Lack of camera is absolutely not a problem since you can buy an external one with the specs that you need. In some sense it’s even good that it comes without one because if you don’t need it you aren’t paying for it, if you need it you’re going to buy the one you specifically need
I have last year's model, only in 17", and AMD 5900. It is a beast. I run a 36" external ROG Tuf monitor, screen recording with Unreal Engine, and other 3D software all running, and it rocks DaVinci Resolve Studio exporting in 4k.
I used to have a Asus SCAR II with the i7 8750h and GTX 1060 , hands down the best keyboard i have ever used , great screen and pretty nice thermal solution + actually surprisingly good speakers . If i am to ever buy another Laptop i would definitely go with the SCAR again .
Great review, but we kind of hovered over the temps, I think since it's a laptop I would go deeper in content around the TDP & the heat associated to the respective TDPs would be useful. It looked like 55w TDP you were drawing 82C. Is that PL1? I'm sure to hit those cinebench scores with the 12900 you were spiking to high 90s, and if not then I would truly commend ASUS on their thermal management of this chassis with the 12900. Performance measurements highly depend on the TDP settings nowadays due to the different tuning from every manufacturer for their chassis. For example, pinning the cinebench scores of this vs the MSI GE76 doesn't mean much if you don't consider the TDP values they were running with.
For the sound test actually you can use dolby atmos and set to dynamic. Believe me the sound become a lot better ;). ROG give dolby atmos why don't use ^_^
The Dolby software really does make a world of difference after taking the time to tune it to my liking. It's actually rather surprising how good these speakers can sound with that software.

Hey Matthew, would it be possible to do a comparison between the ASUS ROG G14 and the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 showcased in this video? I have not seen anyone do a comparison between these two gaming laptops and I would be interested to see how you would critique them side by side.
I bought it a week ago. Is is one beast of a laptop. Not too bulky for my taste. I have an issue with the screen being registered twice from time to time causing flickering. I am not sure if it is a hardware or a software bug. I feel it is mostly a software bug though as it seems to happen when I switch the laptop to eco mode for longer battery (aiming for those 10 hours) and closing the lid. When I open the lid or reboot the screen starts to flicker and display settings show two screens which are duplicated. Disabling screen two make things work normally. I get a feeling it is some glitch with the i9 igpu and the nvidia gpu switch
@@Baba_Muni I do not know if they are comparable. There is no swiss army knife in gaming laptops I am afraid. The laptop that does it all if you get my drift. I bought this exact model a couple of weeks back. My main desktop runs a Ryzen 9 5050x and MSI Supreme 3090, and I really wasn’t expecting too much from this wee thing. But at 2K, this wee laptop is an absolute monster. It will smash out anything at native 2K ultra at min 60 FPS. Aye it’s crazy expensive, but it’s well worth it if you travel a lot and live in hotel rooms.
I'm torn right now between a 2022 Strix Scar 15 or 17 and the 2023 Strix G16... The G16 Has QHD but maxes out at 32 gb... The 2022 Strix Scars have FHD but go up to 64gb.... The other difference is the graphics card, 3070 ti vs. the new G16 has a 4060.... I don't know what to do.. Its my first gaming laptop. I'm torn on 1) the size, is 15" too small to play COD effectively? 2) will the 4060 basically be the same as the 3070ti? and finally, 3) will i regret not having the ability to go up to 64gb (or do i even need 64?) Hoping you can help narrow it down for me... I've been down a rabbit hole for weeks and still haven't pulled the trigger on one, I've purchased and canceled both numerous times worried i'm making the wrong decision... lol.

No webcam is actually perfect, laptop cams usually are fucking garbage anyways, hell if i could get a “gaming” laptop without a cam and without a trackpad i’d buy it. Hell I’d buy 3.
Can't decide between this, the new legion 5i pro (if you can find it anywhere), or the new Helios 300 model from best buy... 2020 model of helios has treated me well for 2 years of heavy use so I'm leaning towards the new model but I cannot pull the trigger..
Hi. I´m going to buy a new latop, and I am between MSI GE76 Raider (1440p panel, and 3070Ti), and the Asus scar 17 (same config). Which one it is the best?
With that thunderbolt, a clip on camera would do just fine, sure it's a little more hassle, but it will be much higher quality and less limiting than a built-in camera because you can actually move it and angle it how you want.
*GOOD FOR MUSIC PRODUCTION* i refunded my $2000 razorblade for it because the sound has good bass and audio quality especially for gaming but even better for music if you wan to be a producer i recommend this laptop. the battery life is pretty good when I'm working on it too, like 3 hours of work before it gets low
But... and no reviews that cover this. Is this besides gaming suitable for using something like Handbrake for video converting, let's say 24 hours non stop, 3 times a week? Can it handle that and stay healthy over the years i would use this?
I lost interest when you said no webcam. Laptop manufacturers are so out of the loop; even with covid, which caused so many people to work from home, laptop manufacturers still release laptops without a webcam.
BS. Vast majority of laptops come with webcam. In fact, no webcams is a rarity. Usually it's just a shitty webcam, but that still makes you wrong. So why can't there be a few models with slim bezels for those who don't want webcam??
@@BillyBob_McSanchez Yeah. I rarely use one but I have a small clip on that's directional. More convenient and better than what is usually included in a laptop.

I just got one on sale during Black Friday, this thing does laps around my desktop CPU and the GPU is basically just as good as the RTX 3070 I had in my desktop. The laptop must be pulling some serious wizardry to get this much performance with that amount of power draw, I mean the whole package draws less power than my desktop GPU was rated to draw alone. I am going to hopefully main this thing for years to come.
I have the scar 15 laptop, intel i9 / RTX 3070 Ti. Can you please help me, I need an expert. (I got this ASUS ROG Strix Scar 15 (2022) Gaming Laptop, 15.6” 300Hz IPS FHD Display, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti,Intel Core i9 12900H, 16GB DDR5, 1TB SSD, Per-Key RGB Keyboard, Windows 11 Home, G533ZW-AS94 from Amazon)
Looking forward to Strix G15/17
To avoid the transparent keyboard layout

Good video, it's a beast of a laptop, between the Asus Rog Strix Scar 15, the new HP Omen 16, the Asus M16 and the Asus G15 amd which would be better, and seeing that the Asus M16 gets very hot I don't know if it's true
How many external monitors can you hook up to this? I see 3 ports but can you run all 3 at the same time?
I used to have the Scar 3 and planning to upgrade to g14. Would you recommend the g14 6800s or this one?
he actually approved an stickerjob
Its very rare but it was aligned i had to compliment them!
great video man!!! can u do a comparison video between this the strix scar and the new razer blade 14
I really miss the Original first-gen Scar 15 Design. Asus ROG scar gl503vs.
Trying to decide if I should grab this or wait for the 40 series laptops
I bought this exact model a couple of weeks back. My main desktop runs a Ryzen 9 5050x and MSI Supreme 3090, and I really wasn’t expecting too much from this wee thing.
But at 2K, this wee laptop is an absolute monster. It will smash out anything at native 2K ultra at min 60 FPS. Aye it’s crazy expensive, but it’s well worth it if you travel a lot and live in hotel rooms.
for that price you could have built 2 desktops that would have been twice as fast and lasted 10x longer. congrats
@@bealight5141 oh thanks for the advice mate!!! What a mistake I’ve made, prob gonna get the self harming kit out tonight.
My Wallet to me:
Just watch the video, don't even think about the price. Buying is totally off limits.
I've been down a rabbit hole for weeks and still haven't pulled the trigger on one, I've purchased and canceled both numerous times worried i'm making the wrong decision... lol.
When and where can I buy this?
Intel i9 12900h with rtx 3060 or Ryzen 9 5900hx with rtx 3080? Which is better
Is there a 17 inch model? How do you think it would compare to the 17 inch Zephyrus?
Where is the link to the laptop? Thanks
When will this be available and for how much?
Good job
Btw plz make a video about the required system for 3d modeling and if a gaming laptop for example can meet the needs
And also about different display aspect ratios like 16×10 and 16×9 etc and the benefits of each
Tnk u so much
when will this be available to purchase?
great video that I was waiting for, could you please compare gaming performance with 2022 Zephyrus G14 6800S, at 1440p with raytracing, with a modern game like Battlefield 2042?
No webcam is actually perfect, laptop cams usually are fucking garbage anyways, hell if i could get a “gaming” laptop without a cam and without a trackpad i’d buy it. Hell I’d buy 3.
Any word on you getting any Ryzen 6000 laptops soon?
Can't decide between this, the new legion 5i pro (if you can find it anywhere), or the new Helios 300 model from best buy... 2020 model of helios has treated me well for 2 years of heavy use so I'm leaning towards the new model but I cannot pull the trigger..
Well made video. Instant SUBB
Thank you! Welcome to the channel
Hi. I´m going to buy a new latop, and I am between MSI GE76 Raider (1440p panel, and 3070Ti), and the Asus scar 17 (same config). Which one it is the best?
Didn't last year's Strix come with a vapor chamber? Or was that just the G15 Advantage Ed?
I would like to see a camera, even a very basic one. Love the cybepunky design
A clip on is better anyway and is directional where one built in is set.
With that thunderbolt, a clip on camera would do just fine, sure it's a little more hassle, but it will be much higher quality and less limiting than a built-in camera because you can actually move it and angle it how you want.
HELLO, NEED HELP. IM CHOOSING BETWEEN THIS AND THE NEW ZEPHYRUS M16 2022 I7 12TH GEN. WHICH ONE IS BETTEr?
*GOOD FOR MUSIC PRODUCTION*
i refunded my $2000 razorblade for it because the sound has good bass and audio quality especially for gaming but even better for music if you wan to be a producer i recommend this laptop. the battery life is pretty good when I'm working on it too, like 3 hours of work before it gets low
Just wish it was actually available for sale
Update. I bought it.
Don't buy it from Amazon. One of my biggest shipping nightmare ive ever had.
It's already out for sale? Where to buy this?
So what's better the raider or Asus scar for gaming and content?
But... and no reviews that cover this. Is this besides gaming suitable for using something like Handbrake for video converting, let's say 24 hours non stop, 3 times a week? Can it handle that and stay healthy over the years i would use this?
@MatthewMoniz check this reply out ⬆️
Asus: “We didn’t have space for a webcam”
Also Asus: Designs the laptop with massive chin with nothing useful on it 🤔
Hey Matthew, new subscriber here; would love to know where you got the Neon name plate?
Why no direct comparison to the Razer 15?
I lost interest when you said no webcam. Laptop manufacturers are so out of the loop; even with covid, which caused so many people to work from home, laptop manufacturers still release laptops without a webcam.
BS. Vast majority of laptops come with webcam. In fact, no webcams is a rarity. Usually it's just a shitty webcam, but that still makes you wrong. So why can't there be a few models with slim bezels for those who don't want webcam??
@@fobusas They can do whatever they want but I certainly won't be buying one.
Webcam was a huge turn off for me but the performance it gives more than makes up for it!
You can always buy an external webcam
@@BillyBob_McSanchez Yeah. I rarely use one but I have a small clip on that's directional. More convenient and better than what is usually included in a laptop.
@@garyt2185 Tbh I'm actually ok with not having a built in webcam on this laptop. I want my privacy, I don't want some hacker or the NSA watching me. Even though it's the NSA's job, it's still creepy
@@BillyBob_McSanchez Same, although many laptops that have a webcam also have a good old physical slider that blocks all video. Even if it doesn't, a little adhesive metal sticker does the job as well.
@@_shadow_1 True, I have tape on both my Surface Pro 4 tablet and Lenovo Think Pad. I'm not comfortable having the NSA watch me take a dump
This laptop with mini LCD screen would be a real beast, and the best option for graphic designers and gamers. Of course this is only my personal opinion :)
Is this better than g14 (2022)?? Asking so I can cop myself a gaming laptop.
Is it out already? How much could be a range on this?
I have this exact laptop but I don’t have the num lock on my touch pad. Do some just not come with it or is this enabled somewhere?
Info on pricing and release date?
I have the scar 15 laptop, intel i9 / RTX 3070 Ti. Can you please help me, I need an expert. In armoury crate my GPU usage stays spiked up to ROG Boost OC while playing csgo which is a not demanding game. GPU temp in around 60-65C. I play in low settings, 4:3 res 1280x960 stretched. I know the GPU boost OC is a feature if this card however is this overclock necessary? should I disable it, if so how? should I be worried about having the Boost OC spiking constantly while gaming?
Can you turn off all those lights to save battery?
Hey , what do you thing on the rtx 3060 model ?
I want to see a comparison with the strix 15 advantage with the rx 6800m... See how much were paying for the NVIDIA badge
How about thermals/time? I dont want to open it too much, only to clean fans maybe.
You get an external webcam with this model, they ship it depending on region, I am from India i bought it a year ago, my heart aches when within a month after purchase RTX 40 series laptop and i9 13 gen were released😅 but no worries my laptop is still best
one of the things people dont mention but it actually really sucks is that the screen cant go above like 120 deg
