for the people saying undercoating is bad, that is only true if prep and coverage is done incorrectly.
for older cars with rust, salt, dirt, tar etc, remove those contaminants and remove loose rust then spray rust converter on both sides of the rusted parts. after that has cured for the alotted time (usually 24hrs) then spray a 2k primer and let that harden. once that is cured you can then prep for optimal undercoating adhesion by scuffing the area, cleaning it, let it dry, then mask off and paint

WARNING: rubberized undercoating your undercarriage will trap in moisture which will result in accelerated RUST damage.

That's a fact. Rubberized Undercoating is the worst thing you could possibly do to your vehicle.

@Joshua Joshua stone chip is to be used close to the wheels i think. Not on the frame and all of that. So its a bit the same i think but its not as thick and softer as far as i know.
But honestly just use some normal paint and some clearcoat stuff if you dont drive around that much way easier to keep looking new and working on.
Ive did some rust repair in the weel wells of my peugeot 205 from 1992. Anf it had some really thick rubber coating. But it rusted right trough the netal . While the paint from the top still looked new and shiny. Screwdriver poked right trough.
So i removed all fhe shit and put new plates in and some hammerite now. Ill see how long it lasts.

I agree. Paint/enamel is much better at protecting your undercarriage. Undercoating is actually more useful on the interior, underneath your carpet, as a minor gap and void filler to reduce cleanup times between surfaces for when things spill. Be sure to test a small area that your undercoating dries to the touch before doing your whole project. 😊🌎✌️

is this magic moisture? When prepped done correctly there is no moisture and it creates a barrier. Amateurs...

Rubberized coatings doesn't encapsulate like dipped e-coat & powder coating from the factory. Whole body car dipped in an e-coat done act the factory creates a contiguous shell with no breaks. The rubberized spray coating creates a rubber cup for water to sit in since you can only spray what is visible. All it takes in one entry point and it rust under the coating. Same concept as a break in the paint surface is the entry point to rust bubbles under paint.

Don't zeibart your car. It traps moisture under itself and your car will rot out even faster than without it. Look at the 1990 Taurus recall. And check out South main auto TH-cam channel. He has a video showing how zeibart ruins your car...
The other products are ok though. None do much of anything for sound deadening though no matter what they claim...

The problem with that is they have to install it when it’s brand new. If there’s dirt and moisture they yes, it can cause damage. I had an old Corolla that had the rubber undercoat when new and it was well worth it! No rust at over 10 years.

Why would you say that, without at least backing it up with at least one reason? If you’ve truly commented to try and help others, give your sords some credibility, and people may just do what you said. Try it out irl, experiment both ways (back up w/proof/facts/data vs not backing up), and see what happens.

It starts to dry up after a few hours but its optimal do the job only summers and on high dry and for at least 2 long hot days Else forget it Also choose a day without wind at all or do it indoors !! And dont apply too much and too thick bcz it will take very long time to dry up Just a good layer ! After you go out for a drive avoid dusty roads stay at asphalt paved ones ! soundproofing and also rustproofing effect with that is FUNtastic

Idiots talking about rubberized coatings trapping moisture and causing rust.
    Does PAINT trap moisture? NO!
This video instructs those wanting to use rubberized coatings to do it when the vehicle is NEW. If you can't figure out what the need for "NEW" is, you might shouldn't even be driving a car.
Stop thinking with the LEFT side of your brains, people.

Wtf rubberized undercoating turns into one big rubber peice usually. Paint doesn't does it? If it adheres right it won't. But idk. I used rubberized undercoating on the plastic parts of my truck. Bedliner for the metal undercoating

    • @DiyNuke
      @DiyNuke 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Paint opens up an doesnt allow the rust to continue all the way.
Ive done some repairs on my peug 205 with some sort of rubber coating but damn. It travels deep and far. While the standard painted parts just show some snall bad spots and thats it. Which is an easy patch job. Why not leave how it came from factory and just check and correct once a year. Should be plenty
