+Lunar Orbit Is it a joke when the people who comment on his reviews genuinely believe this? Or at least state this belief ad nauseum? If it's tired then the comments on his reviews are to blame
***** Perhaps but it gets to certain peoples' point quicker. Whoever they are in Fantano's comments their beef can basically be summed up as, "This dude's white so he doesn't get Rap like I do"
6 inch may sound shallow at first (as I thought it did) but it's really about a woman who leaves her man and tries to distract herself with working and her "grind". As her voice gets progressively higher on the track Beyoncé begins to sound more and more unsure of herself as she breaks down with the final "comeback". She reviews her life and returns to her roots with the next track, "daddy lessons"
Not only that but the genre bending she did with Lemonade was to reclaim black culture, as most of the genres were pioneered by black artists and Formation the albums ender proved exactly that.
Yea I think it's wonderful. I think it showcases her discomfort in finding herself jealous to someone so liberated. She feels like people desire this woman and she doesn't feel valued in her own marriage, and she's conflicted on what her life will become
Daddy Lessons is meant to have all that hollerin and sounds in the back because it's an homage to the country back in the slave days where they would be shouting and ad-libbing in the back yard.
"Motivate you, call me Malcolm X." May sound silly, but given the disrespect and disregard that black women face by society in general and by black men specifically (which is a big part of this album), her reference is actually very important. "Hurt me, hurt yourself" also reflects on how black men treat black women. I mean yeah this whole album is more than "just" social justice, but it's definitely woven throughout. Nothing exists without context, yanno? The issue with Jay Z MUST be seen from within the frame of American racism, because it expresses a severe disappointment and hurt at being disregarded by the very men who are supposed to be there for black women. Curious if you saw the film with it, because the visuals are an extremely important part of the expression. I wonder if it would affect your review? Thanks again for another thoughtful, thorough review! :) Always a good watch.
I agree with you. As a black woman, black men despite us a lot and dont support us in our fights which is ironical because black women do fight for men. Its black women who creative the movement BLM, and stand against injustice systems in jails etc.
I LOVE reading these comments because a quarter of it is filled with music snobs who think if an artist has 3+ writers on a song it is absolute GARBAGE and doesnt show true artistry and doesn't deserve their attention. Another quarter involves guys who don't really listen to female artists and are VERY critical of female artists because they are women. Another quarter involves people who actually don't care who the artist is, if the music is good then they will like it. And then the last quarter involves people who hate mainstream artists and view them all as trash and illuminati priests that plan on taking over the world with racy lyrics and fast hip movements.

Benjamin Ljunggren I did watch it. I wasn't referring to Anthony. I was referring to the ignorant people online, many which are on this comment section, which attack some artists for enlisting so many songwriters and producers, yet conveniently ignore other artists that do the same yet give them so much acclaim.
I'm not normally a fan of mainstream pop but damn this is one good record. Firstly the instrumentations on the majority of the record are right on point. They are full of creativity and very dynamic, not at all like the generic sounds you hear on the vast majority of pop records. Those sounds that she decided to have on this record, along with the featured artists (Kendrick, James Blake, Jack White, The Weeknd) and the lyrical and musical collaborators (Boots, Diplo, Ezra, Father John Misty, MNEK, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Jack White, James Blake, Wynter Gordan, Jimmy Page & Robert Plant from Led Zeppelin, Panda Bear, The Animal Collective, spoken word artist and poet Malik Yusef, Just Blaze, Kendrick, Rae Sremmurd plus others) really shows she has her finger on the pulse of who is making interesting and great music not just in America but around the world; not just in the mainstream but in the alternative music scene as well. She could of easily just chosen to collaborate with the standard mainstream acts that dominate the top 40 of the Billboard charts to get easy fan approval purely based on name recognition. But she decided to go diverse and work with a large base of alternative musicians, with the results being a very eclectic sound. On top of those beats you have lyrics and singing that is full of emotion and pure heart break that is somehow still created to be catchy as hell. You can hear her pain in so many tracks which draws you into the narrative and the struggle she is dealing with. I found how forthright she was in detailing her story to be quite stunning, especially with the standing she holds in the music and celebrity world. That was one of the keys to this record - the degree in which she disclosed this drama - which was expressed in a thoughtful and articulate way, causing it to be such a gripping and intimate listen. Listen to this record no matter if you haven’t listened to a Beyonce album before; even if you have a disdain for pop and mainstream music. It’s worth the listen.
I totally agree with that statement. I always knew who Beyoncé was because...Beyoncé but I never listened to her stuff. A couple months ago I got "The gift" and watched "Black is king" and I was fucking stunned by that project. I heard a lot of good stuff about Lemonade so I gave it a go this week (mid March 2021) and I have honestly listened to it about 12 times in 4 days...this album is just really really good. She is all over the place in terms of genres, sounds, collaborations and she is the magnificent glue to binds this whole thing into a beautiful, absolutely cohesive gem. You are right, that list of collaborators alone shows how talent recognize talent. I'm fucking stunned again! Guess what I'm bumping on my way to work tomorrow morning? Hell yeah!
Dude. He's given lower scores to other popular artists with terrible fanbases. Just look at the dislike/like ratio on his Forrest Hills Drive review or his MBDTF review. I doubt he'd give this album a high score just to not get attacked again.
He could have given Kanye a 0 for all I cared, but my gripe with this review is he seems to be inflating the score to pander. The Kanye review was well done and I completely believed he wasn't being controversial and this was his honest opinion, but he points out more flaws on this album than a lot of albums he gives lower scores and that just rubs me the wrong way.
Hate to break it to y'all, but LEMONADE is the most critically acclaimed album of the year so far; it has a 92 on metacritic, beating out critic darlings like David Bowie's Blackstar and Radiohead's A Moon Shaped Pool. Pop stars are capable of releasing quality work, which may be a surprise to the /r/music demographic that you ignorant people are.
honestly if you don't watch the Lemonade short film you will not understand or grasp the greatness of the album. her most cohesive and transparent album yet.
you know, i don't normally love beyoncé, yes her voice is unacheiviably amazing, and most of her music is just a bit of fun that i could sit down and enjoy. but holy shit, this album was awesome. very interested to see where she goes next.
Not gonna be for everyone, obviously - but I think she earned respect from a lot of people for making her first honest record when her persona has become almost ridiculously 'flawless.' People can nitpick, complain about the number of people involved, but she made a really interesting piece of work at the end of the day. It's not just 'good for a pop star' or 'good for a Beyonce album' it's genuinely well crafted, sung, and performed. I personally think it worthy of the hype.
haha Lemonade forever!!!! I loved your review. I actually saw Love Drought as the beginning of the reconcialitory side, becuase she is talking about how they're trying and human, and how powerful their love is. Sandcastles wasn't sad at all to me; I thought it was beautiful in that it spoke to forgiveness and healing. She says "I know I promised I couldn't stay...but every promise don't work out that way". And on the documentary this is where her and her husband are together again. It made me cry 😢 but in a good way. Such a beautiful album.
Wow, he was so nice. I wasn't expecting that. But at the same time I find it hard to criticise this record. I would give it a 9 myself but strong 8 is good enough😂🍋🍋🍋
+Topher Glenn sadly, a lot of people are offended by opinions different than their own. It's pretty pathetic. it's not being mean when you're criticizing someone.
Morvicks I never suggested anything about being 'mean', that guy was just trying to be snarky. I used the word 'nice' as a synonym for 'positive'. I expected more critiques, but he had very few, in fact, he hardly criticised it at all, and I was surprised. That's all.
Skynetz no, its fact. of all of the 59 people that wrote this album the majority of them are men and around half of those are white men. and the only track on the album that refers to anything about race is freedom, which 8 people wrote, of which only 2 are black women
Jordan Williams You're referring to an incorrect photo you saw on 4chan, you should get some knowledge and better yourself because you aren't a bad person.
damn, i liked your review so much, that I actually gave that record a listen and I just find this type of music and instrumentation unbearable. in my mind it's just so hardwired to meaninglessness that it's an instant turnoff. still, great review, keep up the good work, planthony.
+Tomasz Matuszczyk the video was just uploaded and you listened to an entire album in less than an hour, then formed an opinion. Something's not adding up.
Different strokes for different folks man. I can't tell you how many times I've listed to metal albums after seeing a him do a positive review of it and to this day I still can't stand metal. I want to like but I'm still nope.
I'm in the same boat. I have nothing against this type of music, I can understand that it takes talent just like any other form of music, I just can't get into it. It just feels to "plasticy" to me. Maybe it's just because I'm a fan of things like Punk, Metal, and Alt Rock that I'm used to a more raw and aggressive feel
Re: the mention of "the stripper angle" I thought that track/video referred back to Partition. The last time we saw Beyonce dressed in lingerie in the back of a limo she's enjoying the with Jay-Z, whereas this time it's darker and solitary.
of course it's not "groundbreaking", but even though their style has been attempted by other bands since doppelganger no one does their style better than they do, and by they i mean these 3 musicians together. its still a really enjoyable album and its free so nothing to lose
If everything is true you are right she took those lemons and made a very diverse lemonade that will suit "mostly every" music lovers tastebuds on the ice.
Maybe he's not a fan, I know I'm not and that doesn't mean I hate the guy. I just don't like that kind of music. And, yeah I've heard some of his tracks but I was pretty bored.

Also known as the most overrated album of 2016
nigga stfu
L
Ive seem you more times than my dad....smfh
Nigga out here trynna call out the Beehive.
yeah, it's pretty good & all, but at the same time really over rated
haha Lemonade forever!!!! Such a beautiful album.
i was so impressed with Dont Hurt Yourself, maybe i just like jack white
That style was used by funk singer Betty Davis.
Beyonce should called this "Iced Tea" with all this shade
+Red Robin I wondered if anyone else thought of that.
+Joe Curendero (Magic Plants) Nope Im original
"Because you are white, your opinion is not right"
-Isiah Rashad, a rapper with a predominantly white audience after fantano gave him a 5
😂😂😂😂
Wow, he was so nice. I wasn't expecting that. But at the same time I find it hard to criticise this record. I would give it a 9 myself but strong 8 is good enough😂🍋🍋🍋
+K- Ainmé Not liking something isn't the same as being mean. I don't like this album, that doesn't mean I'm being mean to Beyonce.
Topher Glenn Most stuff I like he doesn't like so I was surprised so I assume whatever my opinion is his will probably be the opposite!
That's all.
WHERE TF IS THE LIL UZI VERT REVIEW
🚮🚮🚮
+Joe Johnson it's a music review channel, he reviews hip hop
Lil uzi is garbage
+COMMA$ theres literally nothing he could say about it, its not an interesting mixtape
Lil Uzi is garbage as fuck
least favourite track is don’t hurt yourself........like??? make it make sense
Great review but kinda curious as to why he doesn’t wanna mention black empowerment or include race related themes from the album into it
TJ Martin what the fuck
15:20 he covered it a bit there.
Replace the battery of your smoke detector
Holy shit, I'm late to the game. This album was amazing and one of the best of the year damn
bulletfastspeed best of the decade!! 🐝🐝
+andrea collins easy now..
I’m super late... but it kicks ass
Colton Hachey but it is
@@lovejotted no
smart call giving this a good review, even though you can't ever fully understand it because you aren't a black woman
+Skynetz a black woman didnt write this album so why wouldnt he understand it????
+Jordan Williams that's misogynistic of you to say
Skynetz no, its fact. of all of the 59 people that wrote this album the majority of them are men and around half of those are white men. and the only track on the album that refers to anything about race is freedom, which 8 people wrote, of which only 2 are black women
Jordan Williams You're referring to an incorrect photo you saw on 4chan, you should get some knowledge and better yourself because you aren't a bad person.
Skynetz im refering to the writing credits of the album hunny, posted on tidal, a company she owns
damn, i liked your review so much, that I actually gave that record a listen and I just find this type of music and instrumentation unbearable. in my mind it's just so hardwired to meaninglessness that it's an instant turnoff. still, great review, keep up the good work, planthony.
OK.
+Tomasz Matuszczyk the video was just uploaded and you listened to an entire album in less than an hour, then formed an opinion. Something's not adding up.
neat
Different strokes for different folks man. I can't tell you how many times I've listed to metal albums after seeing a him do a positive review of it and to this day I still can't stand metal. I want to like but I'm still nope.
I'm in the same boat. I have nothing against this type of music, I can understand that it takes talent just like any other form of music, I just can't get into it. It just feels to "plasticy" to me. Maybe it's just because I'm a fan of things like Punk, Metal, and Alt Rock that I'm used to a more raw and aggressive feel
Melodrama and Lemonade are the best of the decade for me, I love them
Sad that Jay-Z has to create all these fake accounts to talk shit about this album
+Luis he paid a lot of trolls to shit on this album
Wait, so this gets an 8 and G-Eazy doesn't get a 10? Please stop reviewing classical music, Fandango.
Salt
+The Sloth. I think that's sarcasm, I hope
L
G eazy is fucking garbage he shouldn't even get a 1
Sarcasm?...I hope this is sarcasm
bruh you know you gotta do the drake album now
Fantano is scared of the beehive
+ss140 why shouldn't he be, the beehive is ruthless
+dallashood67 they're like trump supporters
FANTANO IS BECKY WITH THE GOOD HAIR
Recently bought this album and listened to it. Really exceptional album. Definitely agree with you on that.
Just glad Anthony had something to enjoy after he had to sit through ASAP Ferg's album
Re: the mention of "the stripper angle"
I thought that track/video referred back to Partition. The last time we saw Beyonce dressed in lingerie in the back of a limo she's enjoying the with Jay-Z, whereas this time it's darker and solitary.
This whole album is both vulnerable but then extremely empowering.
What type of smoke detector is that?
😂
+DoctorPretender I think it's a CO detector
The Weeknd's verse on 6 inch should've been longer
I know right, it should've been at least 7 inches
I really liked Don't Hurt Yourself...
To all the people asking about a Lil Uzi Vert mixtape review....

Review Aesop Rock's new album!!
+555 Gear hell yeah
Hi Andrew! When is your next video coming out?
Why did 1.1k people dislike this review? He gave it an 8/10 which means it’s great (at least in my opinion).
Cuz there’s people who hate Beyoncé
@@1no435 ok
Change the batteries in your fire alarm... but beforehand, review the tonal qualities of the beep.
do the fall of troy's new album, it's free. you'll probably hate it because i love it though like usual
THIS
+Mark Lapis he totally should do that one. :))
lol what, lovesick sounds nothing like anything they've done. there are some other unique moments but some callbacks too, still sounds like tfot.
of course it's not "groundbreaking", but even though their style has been attempted by other bands since doppelganger no one does their style better than they do, and by they i mean these 3 musicians together. its still a really enjoyable album and its free so nothing to lose
though i suspect hed give it a low rating just bc of the style, he seems to really hate this style of vox
If this was called “To Ade a Lemon” it would be a 10
CHANGE YOUR GOT DAMN SMOKE DETECTOR BATTERY
Told everyone this shit was good, but I caught slack for liking a Beyoncé album. Guess they're just mad she lowkey ripped off Gucci Mane.
+foxking39 FREE GUCCI
foxking39 BINARY STAR !!!!!
If everything is true you are right she took those lemons and made a very diverse lemonade that will suit "mostly every" music lovers tastebuds on the ice.
Freedom is straight 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I was really happy you watched and reviewed this album. I thought you weren't going to like it lol due to you give her last release "BEYONCE" a 5.
*chirp!* Time to change that smoke alarm battery! :)
This not only best Beyonce’s album but one of the best concept album of all time.I give it 10/10 oh shit is it 2018 already.
Tbh... Wish he hated this one
+Alexander Johnson so he could validate your wrongness?
+The RAGER the irony in this comment.
The intro to this video was perfect. "That's just your white guilt talking right there" 😂😂😂
Justin Crawford Cal Chuchesta is much more truthful then any Kanye's deepest interview.
Sophie's Lemonade is what I think of every time I see this album
love the prince albums in the background
It's good album and shows a lot of growth from Beyonce as an artist but people are going wayyy overboard like holy shit.
BLACK BASKET CASE Indeed
You're delusional
What do you mean overboard
Why hasn't the Needle Drop spoke about the Death of Prince ?
+Michael Blackshire He does have the albums behind him, so maybe he's planning on talking about it soon.
Maybe he's not a fan, I know I'm not and that doesn't mean I hate the guy. I just don't like that kind of music. And, yeah I've heard some of his tracks but I was pretty bored.
+Dan Yorks "maybe hes not a fan"
didn't look at what records he had on display in the back, did you?
That moment when you realize Cal is actually a metaphor for us.
