Great reaction. NOW YOU MUST LISTEN TO 4:44 by Jay Z. It’s the first time he sheds the gangster persona and comes fully clean about his mistakes marital and in life. A response of sorts to this album, and a therapeutic hip hop album that almost paves the road for an album like Mr. Morale. One of the best albums In his catalogue, and one that you can likely relate to as a father.
The next time you guys listen to it needs to be the visual album. It adds so much. This is an album where if I put on the first track I have to listen to the whole thing through.
Love how you guys were able to understand that Pray You Catch Me was about her Intuition of thinking their was infidelity happening because the LEMONADE film is broken up into chapters channeling the stages of grief and this chapter was titled "Intuition". Loved it!!! Also yes, Beyoncé co-writes on all her music and she also produces. She has been producing and writing since Destiny's Child (she wrote their biggest #1 hit Independent Women Part ll)
On 6 inch, she’s talking about her alter ego… it’s Sasha fierce. She’s on tour. Jay z explains on his 4:44 album. that she was on tour ignoring him after he cheated. “She murdered everybody and I was her witness” Beyoncé was the witness to Sasha. she really wants him to come back, but she’s keeping herself busy working.
I encourage you to watch with the visuals and poetry additions it’s so nice. Even if you can’t film and share it but for your personal experience it is amazing.
This was actually a really good idea to listen to this with your wife. Her takes were so interesting!! She understood this album just from the title alone, which is impressive!
As a Beyonce fan it's really cool to see new people admiring your work. She is amazing at everything she sets out to do. This album is incredible, visceral and intense. A true work of art. I suggest watching the movie Lemonade. With the film they feel free and appreciate the songs in a much more intense way. A hug from Brazil!
This album is basically a thesis on healing from generational trauma in her family's relationships & between black men and women. Also looking to black history to find herself and go back to her roots. [i feel like this is better explained in "How to make Lemonade" which is her limited edition book]
This was epic! Great chemistry! Great job! 👏🏿 This is the first time I've ever heard a whole Beyoncé album. I understand her artistry a little more now thanks to you guys.
Can y'all please react to other Beyoncé albums too? Especially Renaissance. And PLEASE react to some of her live performances. That's where she truly shines.
Beyoncé is known to be extremely humble to the point where surprises those who meet her because they expect a diva. Her ability to be so private and keep a circle of people that she can trust is a testament to her humility.
I appreciated this. Hearing their takes on the art just make me want to experience *Lemonade* again. I love the observation that each track can stand alone and has an individual sound. But when you listen to the full album, an entire story is being told threaded together by the songs. Beautiful concept album.
You gotta react to the visual album. Beyoncé won a Peabody Award for this film. I think so many people try to listen to lemonade in pieces and towards the end it really starts to make sense that the album is about retribution, redemption ans most important healing.
Love Drought was a fan favorite when the album debuted. The song writer said she wrote it about her frustration with Beyonce/Parkwood continually not selecting her songs. There’s an interview clip on TH-cam. It’s the part in the story when Bey is moving towards healing and repairing their relationship.
I have been a Beyoncé fan for more than a decade and I can say I really love transparency and intention put behind the thoughts shared on this video. It’s not a clickbait kiss-ass review to please fans, but credit is truly given when it’s due - also love the personal interpretations both of you give. I happen to revisit this album every now and then and I’m glad I did it this time by watching this video. Thank you.
The film is essential because of the visuals and special to me because of the spoken word by Warsan Shire. It’s amazingly clever and adds to the depth of this album and reflection of each track. Recommend !! Y’all already pick up so much on the gender focus ofc and thread between each track
What a great video. I loved every minute of listening to you guys react to this album-one of the best, most cohesive albums to come out of the past decade IMO.
This is the first time I have EVER watched an entire reaction video to any musical album. I love how you both offered your own thoughtful perspectives while alao leaving room for where your ideas didn’t quite align. I also loved when Bob said "It's about the appreciation of the art, not whether or not you like the art." What is also really interesting is seeing people outside of the Black /African American community dissect things that would be very obvious to us but maybe not so much (or at all ) to you. This is what art is all about. Connection and expansion. A lot of this album was about Jay and Bey's relationship, but so much of it was also about existing and overcoming as a Black Woman. This album is an ode to the culture of Black Womanhood, and our people, and what we face, endure, and overcome as we navigate life. I really ejoyed watching this ans you have a new subscriber @bobthepoppop
Great summary of their review. I’m surprised I watched the whole video because I was expecting something cringe to be said about the album that is so personal to our culture.
While I have never seen you react on your own, your wife and you play off of each other SO well. One person has some insight the other had not thought of, the other then spins it into another direction. And it's not "This is my view and I am right" but "Oh, I like that, I had not thought about it from that angle". I don't even need to see you on your own (which I am sure is great as well) to know that you guys are better together. Amazing video!
You’re spot on about stages of grief. That’s what the film is about essentially. It’s clear which song goes with a certain process of that grief in the film.
You’re right, Diana Gordon is the female vocalists on 3 of the songs on Lil Yachty’s album. But other than a great singer, she’s also a great writer. She co-wrote Don’t Hurt Yourself, Sorry and Daddy Lessons & she co-produced Sorry. She’s extremely talented, but very underrated. Loved your reaction to this album!
"Love Drought" wasn't super well received by the general public when the album was released but has grown to become a fan favorite and with great reason. It's ethereal and very raw. I also think the visuals help tie everything together, you really do have to watch the Visual Album.
It was one of my favs when it came out. I don’t listen as much anymore but it hit me the first time I heard it. I didn’t care for “all night” like the others.
Love Drought was my favorite from first listen. The women that wrote it is describing her relationship with the record label. There's also reference to when artists used to calm riot crowds with music. She's speaking to what her songs could do for the world with the label behind her but they are cutting her out of working.
@@Molonlabee_oooo I like this. I always saw it as the beginnings of trying to patch everything starting with her forgiving him but she doesn’t feel like he’s trying and he’s completely detached after he’s been caught. He’s not even pretending to love her
@@Molonlabee_ yesss shout out to Ingrid Bergman the writer of "Love Drought" and an incredible talent in and of herself. Check out her song "Flex" ft Sevyn Streeter
I will never forget the experience of hearing don’t hurt yourself for the first time. It was just insane to hear her so directly address everything he had done to her when she had been silent for their whole marriage. So out of character and just incredible and empowering to watch unfold.
Lemonade changed the way I consume albums. I now know how crucial it is to consume albums as the artist puts it out. In the sense that if they make a small trailer/film then release a single watch that trailer/film first etc. Lemonade is so much more then the cheating that went on. The art that she made and displayed the visuals they all tell a story. I am so glad I watched the entire film when it came out. It gave me a deep understanding about how she and JAY-Z came out on the Otherside. How she healed and her as a person. - Lemonade visuals - Lemonade poems from Warshan Shire - Lemonade album Truly album of the year is my book! I haven’t experienced anything like Lemonade. And everything that Beyoncé has put out since then has been up to par or even better and never the same. I’m such a fan I know… But we all should be this woman is mindblowing! 🫶🏾🥰👏🏾
I appreciate the wife's comment on the cello. Instrument's communicate a different emotion in each person. Saxophones can be soulful but can also be flighty and mischievous. My son played double bass which can be very mournful. But underestimated cello's are modest tone setters which I love to seek out and appreciate.
I'm not sure whether that's an album they'd necessarily get/be into. I think "Beyonce" is probably the only other solo album by her they'd be able to get into.
@@tink6225 I'm not sure they'd be super into 'Bday' either, more specifically Bob who usually reacts alone. He's said many times that he doesn't really like standard pop or R&B music, especially if the content isn't lyrically dense. Albums like Bday and Renaissance aren't really lyric heavy so he might have a problem getting into them. I think he'd enjoy her newer projects more for how experimental they are but I honestly think he might struggle with Renaissance. Self-titled is the only album, apart from Lemonade, that's close enough to other non-rap albums he's enjoyed.
definitely one of my favorite reactions so far, the emotion of this album is incredible and to see it become something reminiscent is why she creates these sounds
It's probably my favorite review of an album so far. I really enjoy the critical sense that comes with the maturity of both you. Your visions are interesting and both bring some new perspectives. Since this album was designed as a visual one, the film is actually an important part of it's artistry and bring a depth to the lyrics that I'm pretty sure you'd really like.
I’m so glad you guys enjoyed it. Bey is such a down to earth person and people ALWAYS assume she’s super snobby etc, but she’s very humble despite her money. Huge on respect and love. Thank you for giving her a listen, super surprised to see y’all do this. And btw Blue is her daughter’s name, and she also has a set of twins named Rumi (a girl) and Sir (a boy) born the year after lemonade dropped.
I love how this is a true reaction and you guys dive pretty deep in convo to try to figure it out. Also, it’s cool to see how each of you here and interpret the songs.
Maps was the inspiration for the lyrics to Hold Up! The producer Ezra Koenig tweeted the lyrics hold up they don’t love you like I love you and later decided to use them in her song! ❤ love that your wife caught that!
The haunting strings/ instrumental of Pray You Catch Me is such a great mention! Such a wonderful album opener. The softness of her voice introducing the album and contrast to her vocal fierceness in other tracks is just amazing
And I just want to say how much I appreciate this reaction! Having your wife here was so smart and great insight! Having a female perspective for this album is crucial! And why did your wife and I have the same reaction to daddy’s lesson. It hit so deep for me too. Keep up the good work ❤
What I love the most about Beyonce is that she is able to make her music speak for herself. She always manages to make it about her craft, rather than getting attention for her personal life.
this was so so fun to watch! incredible album, now you 100% should watch the lemonade movie! it brings the whole message behind this album together incredibly and perfectly visualises it. you will love it
I watched this video and it evoked warm memories of moments I spent with my boyfriend, simply enjoying each other's company, sipping wine, and analyzing this album together. It's truly wonderful falling in love
6 inch was interesting to hear from your perspectives but I feel it demonstrates Beyoncé as the sexual stage persona touring around world vs the vulnerability and innocence she exhibits outside her work at home - at the end to be both “pleading” for her husband back while being able to demonstrate and capitalize on her desire for everyone including her herself
Just found your channel via watching Beyoncé reviews and I’m so glad I did. This video makes me want to watch more from you bc you gave such an honest review and analyzed pretty well.
Her dad cheated on her mom & got another woman pregnant. It caused a strain on their relationship & part of the reason why she let him go as her manager. Their relationship is better now
Yeah the album 4:44 by Jay-Z was a good response to this and shedding of Jay's persona. Then Everything is Love is the third album to this unofficial "trilogy" from both of them (under The Carters). Bey is involved in the creative process in ways but a lot of the writing of the lyrics is from other people. I believe Beyonce does have input on what the content will be though.
What a great, thorough and nuanced reaction!!! This is one of my favourite albums of all time (I literally skipped school the day it came out to listen to it😅) so this reaction made me super happy. I wish y’all reacted to the music videos though!! The visual album really adds a second layer to this work, I’d reccomend checking it out ✨🐝
Yay! Love that you finally did Lemonade!!! What a great reaction. I would like to know more about which instruments I can trust. Lol. The pictures for each song are from the Lemonade movie/music videos. I would suggest watching that. Hopefully you will also listen to her sister Solange- A Seat at the Table.
Love the video. In the song "Hold Up" she is referencing Jay-Z's song "Song Cry" where he even says that women didn't talk to him until he had money. Also Lemonade is part 1 of an album Trilogy by them. Lemonade 4:44 by Jay-Z Everything is Love by The Carters
The visual album for this is stunning and really adds to the story that is the journey of this time during her marriage. She uses the poetry of Warsan Shire and it is perfect. She also shows a lot of the aesthetic of black culture across the south and its gorgeous. High recommend doing maybe a patreon post of it since its likely to get blocked on YT.
Forward is so underrated but never fails to make me tear up. Especially in the film. Usually a skip from fans but makes the transition to freedom both make sense in the conceptual sense and in the political aspect. Call to action anthems like Freedom and Formation.
Funny thing this actually started as a joint album for them. But as it progressed it turned into Bey’s story what would be Lemonade. Then JAY-Z put his songs on 4:44 and they both did “everything is love” which was the icing on the cake so to speak.
Loved your guys analysis . Especially appreciated your comments and connections with “daddy lessons” and how you mentioned she nailed the country aspect with the sort of cheesy twang sound that we hear a lot. ❤️

Jay z explains on his 4:44 album. that she was on tour ignoring him after he cheated. “She murdered everybody and I was her witness” Beyoncé was the witness to Sasha. she really wants him to come back, but she’s keeping herself busy working.
So hubby was right in his interpretation
Beyonce and Jay have a joint project called Everything is Love. Highly recommended and probably my favorite album ever.
713 and Friends are goated
Congratulations on slaying the TH-cam copyright dragon
Not dragon 😭
This album is basically a thesis on healing from generational trauma in her family's relationships & between black men and women. Also looking to black history to find herself and go back to her roots. [i feel like this is better explained in "How to make Lemonade" which is her limited edition book]
This was epic! Great chemistry! Great job! 👏🏿 This is the first time I've ever heard a whole Beyoncé album. I understand her artistry a little more now thanks to you guys.
OMG you have to just sit down for a day and go on an emotional rollercoaster with her music
I’m so happy y’all did this… the visuals change everything
The Visual honestly really makes you understand how dope the album is.
“My torturer became my remedy” and “How I missed you my love” always get me 🥲💛
While I have never seen you react on your own, your wife and you play off of each other SO well.
He’s not even pretending to love her
It’s my favorite on the album overall. Glad I am now in great company.
- Lemonade visuals
- Lemonade poems from Warshan Shire
- Lemonade album
Truly album of the year is my book! I haven’t experienced anything like Lemonade. And everything that Beyoncé has put out since then has been up to par or even better and never the same. I’m such a fan I know…
But we all should be this woman is mindblowing! 🫶🏾🥰👏🏾
Your wife getting emotional at Daddy Lessons was so real. Daddy Lessons is such an honest song, the story telling is great!
I appreciate the wife's comment on the cello. Instrument's communicate a different emotion in each person. Saxophones can be soulful but can also be flighty and mischievous. My son played double bass which can be very mournful. But underestimated cello's are modest tone setters which I love to seek out and appreciate.
finally there’s a ‘lemonade’ reaction, hoping that the both of you react to ‘renaissance’ very soon! 💖
Agree! More pop Bob the Poppop!
I'm not sure whether that's an album they'd necessarily get/be into. I think "Beyonce" is probably the only other solo album by her they'd be able to get into.
@@calvinkhumalo9780 or maybe bday
@@tink6225 I'm not sure they'd be super into 'Bday' either, more specifically Bob who usually reacts alone. He's said many times that he doesn't really like standard pop or R&B music, especially if the content isn't lyrically dense. Albums like Bday and Renaissance aren't really lyric heavy so he might have a problem getting into them. I think he'd enjoy her newer projects more for how experimental they are but I honestly think he might struggle with Renaissance. Self-titled is the only album, apart from Lemonade, that's close enough to other non-rap albums he's enjoyed.
I don't think they Will get reinassance cuz this album is inspired in ball culture and lgbt history ... So I'm not sure
definitely one of my favorite reactions so far, the emotion of this album is incredible and to see it become something reminiscent is why she creates these sounds
❤ love that your wife caught that!
yesss i hope they saw this comment cause i love this fun fact
you guys are amazing! as a beyoncé fan, this reaction was one of my favorites!
when/if you guys watch the visuals for this album, you’ll see how each song was a different part of the process for her.
Great reaction! This also was released as an entire visual album to accompany the music that enhances the entire experience.
The fact that you’ve listened to this, is gonna make 4:44 all the better when you get to it
I was in college back in 2016. This album was epic ❤
The haunting strings/ instrumental of Pray You Catch Me is such a great mention! Such a wonderful album opener. The softness of her voice introducing the album and contrast to her vocal fierceness in other tracks is just amazing
Her Renaissance album is the album to experience if you guys have not. It is my favorite album ever.
And I just want to say how much I appreciate this reaction! Having your wife here was so smart and great insight! Having a female perspective for this album is crucial! And why did your wife and I have the same reaction to daddy’s lesson. It hit so deep for me too. Keep up the good work ❤
This is by far one of the best reacts i've seen for Lemonade on TH-cam. Great video
What I love the most about Beyonce is that she is able to make her music speak for herself. She always manages to make it about her craft, rather than getting attention for her personal life.
I cried whenever I listened to Daddy's Girl. I have an absentee dad and the song brought up unresolved emotions and hurt
I LOVED this review. It's my first time watching and I'll definitely be watching more, even from artist that I don't casually listen too.
this was so so fun to watch! incredible album, now you 100% should watch the lemonade movie! it brings the whole message behind this album together incredibly and perfectly visualises it. you will love it
I watched this video and it evoked warm memories of moments I spent with my boyfriend, simply enjoying each other's company, sipping wine, and analyzing this album together. It's truly wonderful falling in love
I love that formation being a celebration of Beyonce being put back together
6 inch was interesting to hear from your perspectives but I feel it demonstrates Beyoncé as the sexual stage persona touring around world vs the vulnerability and innocence she exhibits outside her work at home - at the end to be both “pleading” for her husband back while being able to demonstrate and capitalize on her desire for everyone including her herself
love this interpretation and totally agree
I hope someone has told you guys to watch the visual album because your interpretation of the phases of grief is spot on!
Their relationship is better now
Omg u guys r awesome 4 doing this video. Beyonce is amazing.
Really wish you guys watched the film. It’s so beautiful. Great reaction!
This was great Bob! Your wife gave a very valuable perspective 🙌
What a great, thorough and nuanced reaction!!! This is one of my favourite albums of all time (I literally skipped school the day it came out to listen to it😅) so this reaction made me super happy. I wish y’all reacted to the music videos though!! The visual album really adds a second layer to this work, I’d reccomend checking it out ✨🐝
"They used to hide from you, lie to you" is also a play on his own lyrics.
OMG. O loved this vídeo, I felt so conected with you guys. Tnks for this video, this conversation and everything about it
IM THE HAPPIEST PERSON EVER THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THISSSS
Y’all must watch the visuals to this album as well!! 🤩
Very cool album. Hope you react to Renaissance soon, one of my favourite albums from last year
Renaissance was noise
Lemonade
4:44 by Jay-Z
Everything is Love by The Carters
Your wife speaks the truth about the cello. I never realised it, but a cello is 100% a trustworthy instrument.
This was such a great video!! Loved your takes on the album…. You guys should watch the lemonade movie. It’ll literally bring you to tears.
I reallllllyyyyy enjoyed this. Really. So genuine.
Jay z said he was in the studio with her on some of the sessions while recording..he said it was like therapy for them lol
Funny thing this actually started as a joint album for them. But as it progressed it turned into Bey’s story what would be Lemonade. Then JAY-Z put his songs on 4:44 and they both did “everything is love” which was the icing on the cake so to speak.
Now, THIS was a reaction! I really enjoyed! I am subscribing and checking out more of your videos.
It’s all about the 7 stages of grief.
Beyoncé has three kids! Her first child’s name is Blue ivy and she has twins called Sir and Rumi Carter
Loved your guys analysis . Especially appreciated your comments and connections with “daddy lessons” and how you mentioned she nailed the country aspect with the sort of cheesy twang sound that we hear a lot. ❤️
Beyoncé's great probably one of the greatest living entertainers In Our Lifetime just saying...
This is so cute awww seeing y'all really engage with this and break down each other's perspectives is so sweet
The lemonade film adds so many layers to this narrative. I hope u guys watch on ur own time. 🍋 🍋 🍋 🍋 🍋
The pictures for the songs are stills from the visual album
Omg this is my first reaction I love Beyonce & now I love you guys more reactions please…& the wife is hilarious 😂
