    Here is a video showing my 3 mpc machines and which one might be right for you if you are looking into purchasing your next akai mpc controller or standalone machine. The Akai MPC Studio 2 is an amazing machine to pick up and start making music on your computer especially if you have all your drum sample libraries or splice account linked up in your computer it makes it easy to drag over your samples directly into your drum pads to start sequencing music on the mpc software, beat making on the mpc studio mk2 is so fast and straight to the point. Now on the MPC ONE i just absolutely love it because it is an mpc one standalone machine I am able to make beats on the mpc one without having to be attached to a computer screen. If you want to go completely standalone in your beat making process i highly recommend the mpc one, it's amazing for chopping up samples in the mpc one or even sampling or programing drums on the mpc one. Now the MPC 200xl is my go-to mpc if i want to lock in and take my sweet time making some hard grimy boombap style of beats as sampling on the mpc 2kxl is also amazing it will take some time to slice up samples but it is fun and worth the time.

    I own an MPC X and I love it but I wanted something portable too so I also bought the Live 2. The 3 major reasons I passed on the One, 1. Small pads, 2. No battery and 3. No ability to add an internal storage drive. I'm sure if money isn't a factor most people would choose the X for the studio. For portability, the Live 2 gives you the most options. The first Live, I didn't want to be tethered to a head phone jack while, cooking, shaving, showering, working on the bike/car etc etc.

    MPC One owner here! I luv this thing, my only complaint is the 2G memory. Wish it had more so I could store all my synths from the 2.10 update internally, instead of using an SD card for storage. Other than that it’s great! If this thing ever bites the dust, I’ll probably grab the liveII

      Man brother you’re right on the spot and it’s funny because those since on the 2.10 update are no joke they’re very heavy files. And I’ve been very tempted to getting a live ii just for the simple reason of its internal battery and being able to use it without an outlet.

    Reason I chose the Live over the One and Live II. First, size and shape. The live is quite possibly the perfect shape. It resembles the format of a laptop allowing it to go in and out of the laptop bag easily. I always have the laptop bag anyway for work. The shape of the Live also allows the unit to sit on you lap well when on the road and while in the bed. The One did not have a battery so I would have had to find a place to plug it in to use it. The layout of the buttons, screen and pad did not seem as intuitive to me. I will concede that I am weird in that aspect so to each his own. I did not need the extra size or weight of the Live II. I never use CV and never once needed built in speakers. People traveling do not want to hear what I'm doing any more than I want to hear their mundane conversations. I always use headphones as a courtesy.

    Is there any drawback to using the MPC software as a VST in Ableton if you're planning on controlling it with the Studio 2? The way I make things is by juggling projects between Ableton, Serato, and the MPC. I use Ableton link to sync Serato DJ Pro to Ableton and I have an RME interface with a software mixer that allows me to send Serato's audio to Ableton, so if I can use the Studio to control the MPC software in Ableton, that ties everything together for me.

    I'm a tried and true MPC user... Got introduced to the workflow on the 2000XL back around 2005 approximately... from there I've worked on every unit EXCEPT for a 5000 😩 and now I'm on the "X"... it's the perfect combo of standalone and controller... so for you to use the MPC One just seems redundant to have that overpriced toy lol as well

  • @user-mb8rf7qk5q
    @user-mb8rf7qk5q 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    MPC one is EVERYTHINGGG. But my complaint would be: I wish there was a linear mode. If you’re used to making music left to right, it’s a major learning curve. Otherwise I love this thing more than life.

    • @malobeats
      @malobeats  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great observation I never really thought about that since I’ve adapted to its workflow and feel very comfortable with it, but having a linear workflow as you mentioned would be very interesting to see. If I’m not mistaken I think the force has a linear workflow that it offers so there might be something similar to what you’ve mentioned.

    MPC ONE is the best, the only downside is that it isn't portable as an SP-404, you can buy a external battery but it's better to connect it as it is, but that's it, MPC ONE is perfect frfr and also Akai keeps coming with updates and that's a super plus for the community!

    • @malobeats
      @malobeats  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey brother I absolutely agree as it is a completely different machine to our standalone units but I still feel like it fits in the category simply for the sampling workflow the mPC software offers, i’ve done my best sampling in different software’s and it’s never been my vibe until I use the mark ii I felt right at home being able to use the controller and the software to chop up and slice samples I did not feel that awkward feeling I get when I’m sampling using other software’s. So I’m still able to do sample -based hip-hop beats using this controller along with the software.

    • @LukezyM
      @LukezyM 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The feel of using it is just the same as the standalones, with added functionality of 3rd party VSTs, good audio warping and better sample management. Plus the Studio and a laptop, are less bulky to carry around than the Live 2.

  • @lundsweden
    @lundsweden 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The MPC One is very complex, more or less a DAW-in-a-box. That turns some people off it. I've also heard that its a good machine to complete full tracks, the idea that you pretty much know what you want, the MPC will get your track finished fast!
    Some people prefer the Elektron Digitakt, which is MUCH more limited, but people say you get results you could'nt have even imagined before using it. Its like an inspiration machine. The sound of the filters and effects are impressive too IMO.

I have the XL and I truly love the XL because I have an emotional attachment to it but I hardly ever use it since these newer and MPCs truly give me everything I need from workflow to Sound

      @@malobeats Thanks man. Really appreciate the response. Most of these producers on TH-cam don’t ever respond.

    I'm going to be honest, I do think the small pads on the MPC One are kind of meh. Even the Maschine Mikro MK2 has nicer pads, even when they lack the MPC feel. Not saying the pads on the MPC One don't work. They work fine, great even, especially when adjusting them to personal taste (I don't smack these small pads as hard as I'd do on my MV8800, so they have to be more sensitive on the MPC One). But if you want to do more advanced finger drumming, there really is less pad surface to work with.

      This is interesting observation and I’m sure for finger drummers it might be a different point of view, as of for me I’m horrible at finger drumming lol so I’ve never put the pads to the test in that certain way. Thank you for sharing his input

    Only negative on actual MPC standalones is the time strech function in my opinion. It sounds crap. Both modes. It‘s not state of the art. Rest is Great.

      Hahahahaha this comment, 👍🏼👍🏼 I feel you with that as $800 is A pretty heavy price but compare to other sampler‘s on what it offers I feel that $800 is a bang for your buck. But still $800 is close to 1000 and that’s a lot of mula $$
