    Great in-depth tutorial. Personal opinion : (Some) people should stop with the "no quantize" dogma. It's ok to quantize, then add swing or humanize... and sometimes even not. There is no rules in music, as in art in general.

    • @malobeats

      Thank you for taking the time and sharing this I absolutely agree, when I was just getting started I will try to do my natural groove but it was really bad lol so quantizing save my life. My method is always different sometimes I quantize and sometimes I won’t but it’s whatever sounds better at the end of the day.

    I usually play my hi hats naturally keeping the random velocity I play and end up nudging em to places that I want to be but this right here certainly something I will be implementing because I already use this in Ableton. VERY DOPE! The destine on the sample is fire too!

    Hey just wanted to say thank you for these videos!
    I have had the mpc live for a while now, but I never got into it like my other gear.
    I have even had it up on a re-sale website for the last few weeks.
    But watching your videos have gotten me to re-think the mpc and use it in new ways!
    the videos you put up are well produced and get into the meat of the topic.
    In a way that I have not found elcewhere.
    keep it up and thank you!

      @@malobeats Your actually right about quantizing and the difference between using it and not using it. My take on that is, what are your intentions why are you quantizing your drum tracks and why are you not using quantize on a specific song/beat.

    Can Humanize be applied to the standard quantize swing, or does it need to be a post-processing thing?

  • @esaint7
    @esaint7 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What effect did you use for the sample? bit crush? did you slowed it down? Thanks for the humanize drums tips also!

    • @malobeats
      @malobeats  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I’m glad you noticed that small detail. I added the vintage emulator SP 1200 ring, I also added the Lo Fi plug-in and had my bit depth at 12 and my sample rate at 44.1 and that’s pretty much it it gave it that Lofi sound oh and one more thing I also went to the outlet falls on the program edit section and turned on the amp in a bit of the pitch variation so I can sound like if it’s wobbling a bit giving it a vinyl record type of wobble.

    Thanks for all your great tutorials! 🙏👏 The bass here, is it a 16 leveled bass tone or a filtered bass line from the sample? Thanks, Amund

    • @malobeats
      @malobeats  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey brother, great question in this track are used a filtered baseline from the sample layered on top of the original sample. I’m actually working on a video very soon putting together different base lines for our beats.

    Humanising drums is simple just keep the midi slightly of the grid, same for piano, most DAWs have a humanise or groove function.

    • @malobeats
      @malobeats  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This human eyes function has been so useful my workflow since I am not the best finger drummer this really does help me out in creating some interesting grooves when my performance sounds a bit too boring.

    So this is like drum swing just asking I’m new at this and really trying to get my sample game on point with the drums to match

    • @malobeats
      @malobeats  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey brother, thank you for taking the time and dropping by. It’s a bit different but it still comes up with some sort of swing which I really enjoy but the MPC has its own function where it’s actually focusing on the swing of your performance this feature right here we’re just randomize your notes and it’s technically does still feel like it’s creating its own swing. Hopefully this wasn’t too confusing
