You've done a great job saving your Thai Con, you should be super proud of yourself 👏👏🎉 And look at everything you've learnt along the way 😀 She'll be big and beautiful in no time 😍💚🪴
WOW Your plant came out beautiful! I bought a tiny Thai a few months ago, but the root ball rotted and detached from the stem. The stem and leaf were so tiny i couldn't see if there was a node. I took my chances and put the stem in pon and months later it finally grew roots and now it has a second leaf 😭 I'm so proud of this little plant. They are very determined plants haha.
Mine has been struggling. It was imported with 3 large leaves. Fair abouts of roots. She potted in spag moss. I Ieft it for a few months. Lost one of the leaves. The roots really grew welll. I needed to repot it because it was in a small cup, about a month or so ago. So I put it in chunky soil. The leaves started to look droopy and sad. I just unpotted it, to check the roots, a couple were dead, nothing too bad. I sprayed with hydrogen peroxide just incase. I repotted in a smaller pot, since I think the first one was too big. And I made the soil mix even chunkier, because it seemed to be retaining water. I used soil, prelite, coco bark. The leaves seem to perk up a little since then (Sunday July 7th). Also to note, I have not had any new leaf growth in the 6 or so months I've had this plant. Anyone have any recommendations, I would really hate to lose this guy!
It sounds to me like you're on the right path. I would focus on root growth for the time being. These tend to be the first to go and chunky soil is a step in the right direction. I would also suggest throwing in some Mycorrhizal Inoculant into the soil.
@@ashleigh_ann Hey there! I've got a fairly young MTC. It took me around 6 months [perhaps longer] of very careful watering, and allowing the leaves to begin to curl at the edges - slightly - in between waterings, before I saw my first leaf begin to come through. Oh the joy when that happened! I've persevered with the underwatering and she began to send out new leaves slowly but regularly. So I thought I'd share my experience with you to encourage you to persevere. That new leaf will come eventually. It's ridiculous how happy that new leaf will make you too!😅
After watching many videos and noting that the most popular concensus was how easily prone to root rot the MTC was/is, i finally got one [I think it was] in 2022. Because of that plant I'm now a chronic underwaterer. I wait until it's leaves just start to curl and only THEN will she be allowed a drink. Like you I am quite measured in how much she gets, and even then I don't allow her to sit in any over-spill. She's still in the tiny nursery pot she came in. I've tucked her 2 x aerial roots back into her pot. We moved around 4 months ago and she's still getting used to her new surroundings. Not as much light as before, so I'm waiting until she pushes out her first leaf in her new location then I'll repot her, and then only into a slightly bigger, see through pot. I'm not as skilled in the various techniques to try to save her should anything go wrong, so I've been so so EXTRA vigilant in giving her just enough water to get her leaves straightened out and this seems enough that she had started to send out new leaves not frequently BUT regularly.
Goes to show that even when you think you’ve lost the plant, it’s worth trying something else. Nice save there for sure, the plant is gorgeous now ☺️
I couldn't have said it better myself

I just got my Thai a month ago so this is all good info to have just incase lol
You're welcome! Best of luck
Your determination to save that Thai has paid off; you did well Lethius! Ive not bought a Thai yet!
Thank you!
I still think this is a lovely plant to have and once you know its weaknesses and its strengths you can get it to thrive
Wow 😍 I hope, my monstera will be just as beautiful
I hope so too 🤞 hopefully you can avoid the downsides that I had to go through

@@RootsReady perfect, thanks so much for the advice 🙏 I'll definitely pick some up!

Goin thru this right now. This gives me hope LOL. It has put out a teeny tiny root so ita makin moves!
The teeny tiny root is the massive first step in the right direction

Thanks for sharing. Very insightful and sounds like a strategy that is working and one we can all learn from
Ive heard that’s common with Thai cons- root rot 😑 but you did well by persevering.
It is very common so hope this video of my experience can prepare people for it
💪🏽👏🏾👏🏾🪴
😁💪
I’ve rotten my small one. Saved it. And it started rotting again. Still working on it 😅
You can do it! Try adding in some Mycorrhizal Inoculant this time
Put it on a moss pole!
Good idea! Thats my next step
