I too bought a baby Burle Marx Flame. It’s been a slow grower (my ambient humidity around 50%), but I have gotten a new leaf with another on the way! I look forward to my first split leaf 🙏🏼🤞🏻. Your prayer plant is amazing! Have a great 2025 with your plants 💚✨

Hi Lethius! Great vid again. Really enjoyed it. Those marantas are cast iron aren’t they? I’ve got to say I agree with your plant of the year whole heartedly. Mine is sending out a new leaf…. Again! I am trying to bring back a hoya kerrii from a stem piece with lots of nodes. It has rooted nicely but no leaves yet. Your plants certainly show the love you put into them. It's my birthday and at our Walmart (US big box store) they had 4' Thai Constellations for $75. Happy Birthday to me. Now I need to add a room on my house for it. The last thing I needed was a monstera but how could I say no? My plant of the year is a crazy always blooming streptocarpus.

Water your plants with water and hydrogen peroxide, doesn’t harm the plant and kills the eggs. Have to hear the crackling sound when you water them

They're easy to care and hard to kill! One of the most resistant plant i ever know. Not to mention they grow wild in my place. Sometimes people kill them because they can be invasive

Philodendrum Spiritus sanctii é uma especie endêmica de um região restrita do estado Espírito Santo. Bem distante da região amazônica. Bem raro até mesmo na natureza, pois muitos coletadores estrangeiros saquearam o habitat seu habitat e levaram par fora do Brasil. Inclusive, o último que tentou levar 28 mudas foi pego e as plantas foram para o Jardim Botânico do RJ, onde 2 ficarão lá e as outras 26 serão tratadas para retornar ao seu habitat.

Hehe, I've got one of those disappointing Pink Princesses, too 😆 It has loads of pink variegation on the stem and petioles, but most of the leaves are that horrible muddy colour, and it just gives the odd splash of pink on the leaves when it feels like it. Thankfully, it was free, so it can just sit in the corner and do whatever it wants. I'm past caring at this point 😏

You're not wrong about the Pink Princess. I blame Planterina for my pandemic-obsession with the PP. (Man, I really miss her!) She had such fancy ones! So disappointing when I finally got one. Many were calling them "poo princesses." The newest thing is Pink Princess "Marble." Supposedly, the color pattern is so much better than the original. The one I saw on a YT video was so nice! Yep, the philodendron marketing gods got me again. It's not pretty either. 😂 At least the prices aren't what they used to be.

Moss is good for the soul😇 I know your over moss but if it's ever crispy dry, you'll need some kind of sprayer to force sphagnum to absorb the water due to water pressure or use warm water when watering. I always say sphagnum moss is for the over watering, heavy handed parent i.e. ME 😅

9:30 The soil is probably drying out too fast because its in a terrra cotta pot. Terra cotta pots absorb water and are porous so it sucks the water out of the soil. Good for a standard potting mix but not an aroid mix. That combined with the small moss pole ( not enough moss to hold water longer than a couple days) is what's causing the plant to lose leaves. Just my observation.

Ooooo, Lethius you’re a brave man. Your problem was the clay pot. It literally sucks moisture out of the soil hence why it’s quite good for certain orchids and why the pots always turn green and covered in salts from the water. There is also an argument that the clay pot acts like a fridge through evaporation and keeps roots far too cold for these plants. I think you’ll have much more success in plastic. But of course this time of year leaf shedding is not always a disaster. Great vid again 👍🏻👍🏻

It would help if it was planted in ceramic or plastic. Maybe add some tree fern to your potting mix as well.

Why a terracotta pot if you are trying to retain moisture?

Why not used a no drainage pot or self watering pot. With Moss Pole with a cup on top. Moss wrapped around tree fern fibers. That plastic cling look is trashy looking. A eye sore. Maybe try a larger bottle with the top cut off.

I just got 2 for $10, what do you do for the spider mites? The tag says it’s grows along the ground but I watched a YT clip that had one growing up a pole, are there different ones?

I'm so glad you like the rugosum, aka, the pigskin philodendron 😊 Those leaves will size up in no time. Have you thought about trying to activate some nodes on the bare stem by air-layering? It is a plant that does like to drop lower leaves anyway. I chopped my mother plant right back after air-layering the top again, as she got really bare at the bottom. She's even grown a little pup. I adore this plant, and it's definitely worth its place in your top 5. I can't wait to see yours in a year 😁 My current top 5 plants are my Philodendron Mayoi now that its leaves are maturing, the same with my Philodendron Golden Dragon, which is just such an easygoing Philo. Then my Alocasia Metalhead, which is growing into a real statement plant with huge, dark, metallic leaves. And the last two are two of my big leaf hoyas; the Hoya Sp. tanggamus and the Hoya Sp.Glabra. Both of these are really taking off, and the amount of leaf growth has really surprised me. Also, they've made my top 5 because it's like they don't even know it's winter 😂 Oof, and that new veitchii leaf is spectacular 👌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻💚

I would be willing to bet money the reason got your forgetii was yellowing was due to it being so root bound. She definitely couldn't take up as much water as she needed. Combine that with your grow light that you had, its water requirements were higher than it could absorb ❤
