“My former assistant in matters of impalement.” Is it just me, or was that a super subtle reference to the fact that Butcher used to smash Jenny?

Bill Cutting is easily one of the best dramatic characters to ever grace the screen, largely owing to the insanely substantive prowess of DDL.
You'll know a great actor when you wouldnt recognized him in each role he portrays in any movies he was in..

This trio played very, very, very well here as did the rest of the team, Great scene.
Cameron Diaz acted "I would crying full of tears right now if I wouldn't be terrified like hell" perfectly.
Day Lewis killed it (ironically enough, and pun only halfway intended).
Incredible and otherworldly, he gave one of the finest and most mesmerizing performances ever put to film, over the past century, as Day Lewis became Bill The Butcher!
Most people say Daniel Day Louis in "There Will Be Blood" is his best acting performance but in my opinion, his portrayal of Bill The Butcher is the GREATEST acting performance ny anyone that I have ever seen.
Violence was the only way he knew how to connect. He loved her. What a moment.

It was like Oscar night with drunk Ed Harris and Lady Gaga hosting, they kept prick-teasing him over Django but then Kung Fu Panda 2 takes the award instead.

Daniel Day Lewis definitely captured "creepy" in this film.
I don't think of him as creepy... that's not the right word. He had some kind of honor and he wanted to teach the young lad. But he is scary definitely though and unpredictable and broken beyond repair

This guy really knows how to make one stressfull and anxious, My nails almost didnt make it.
Only Daniel Day Lewis could have played that part. Maybe Oldman but that's about it.
Very few could bring the character to life as Daniel Day Lewis did.

Agreed. You could tell she wasn't who they really wanted but she gave her it her all which was commendable. IMO they shoulda got Kate Winslet for it. She and Leo always had great chemistry together and being a natural UK'er she coulda done the accent better. Her with the red hair and the period outfits woulda been amazing. But for what it was Cameron wasn't awful like a lot of people claim.

I wonder if Daniel Day-Lewis ever mocked Cameron Diaz's bad Irish accent while in character during filming because it would've been interesting to look over considering Bill is known for his prejudice for the Irish and would know an Irish accent when he hears it. So you'd think from HIS perspective, Diaz's character is actually an American pretending to be Irish. Lol.
well cameron diaz is part irish, she's also english, scottish, german, (from her moms side), her dad's side, she's Cuban [Spanish, including Asturian, possibly other], one eighth Spanish-Venezuelan.
