  • Howdy everyone!
    I recently had the privilege of installing the Active Autowerke performance midpipe into a gorgeous 2018 F30 M3. Its an incredible car that really is going to benefit from this upgrade. This is something I can say you should ABSOLUTELY install on your F8X car, and hear and feel the difference. It truly is dramatic both in sound and immediate pedal feel after installation. I literally don't know why you wouldn't do this on your F8X platform.. the difference is truly that good!
    Make SURE to check out the before and after sound clips at the end of the DIY, and my camera mic doesn't do it full justice! Yeah.. the difference is amazing and you can hear me laughing in appreciation at the new growl and pops!
    Thank you to my partner Active Autowerke and my buddy and owner of the M3 Andrew! This really was a lot of fun!

    Did this require any cutting? Thanks

    • @BMWDIYGuy
      @BMWDIYGuy  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes.. you will need to cut your existing midpipe just short of the exhaust. I cover that in the video.

    I want to get one of these AA midpipes for my M2c. Thank you for the video. I have seen some people put spacers underneath that brace so there is alittle exhaust room for the AA exhaust. Thanks for sharing!

    • @BMWDIYGuy
      @BMWDIYGuy  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      This makes an unreal difference and I can imagine for your M2c as well! Amazing car there btw! AA says that about 99% of setups will be just fine with the stock brace, but WORST case scenario they make a brace with an angle in the middle to give a little more space. I set it all up, and then adjusted slightly a couple of days later to make sure clearances (top AND bottom) were good.

    • @Tacoexplorer
      @Tacoexplorer 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      BMW DIY Guy awesome thank you! Are you still running this AA midpipe? I think I will just put some washers between the bolts and the brace just to get more clearance when I do mine.

      @@Tacoexplorer Absolutely yes, and is a fresh installation. The difference is absolutely worth it. I will have a follow up video with sound differences and a before and after dyno run as well, posted soon.

      BMW DIY Guy your DIY video inspired me to make my own video when I install my midpipe. Especially the sound differences. Keep the videos coming! I do all my own work in all my cars as well.

    What's the difference in loudness? Have you done any db measurings, readings?

    • @BMWDIYGuy

      I didn't take any readings but definitely louder. Not overwhelmingly loud, but noticeable

    hey Stephen, how you doing bro? So did you have to do any ECU Coding. I asked the question because you remove the cats can you do this upgrade without coding the ECU?

    • @BMWDIYGuy
      @BMWDIYGuy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So just the midpipe alone doesn't require coding. If you go catless, you will get s CEL for sure, so best to code that out.

    Great video! So it looks like you don't move the catalytic converters from the stock midpipes to these ones, is that right? Will the car still pass emissions test with this midpipe?

    • @BMWDIYGuy
      @BMWDIYGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your primary cats are actually in the downpipes. I don't BELIEVE you will have issues with emissions changing the midpipe.

    @kenny0271552505 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Did you use gaskets for the connection between the midpipe and OEM downpipes? If so did the AA kit come with the gaskets?

    • @BMWDIYGuy
      @BMWDIYGuy  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesn't come with a gasket and you can reuse the previous.
