That gunmetal grey is sooooooo clean! My e90 335 is the same shade so I've always had a soft spot for the super darker grey cars! I couldn't agree more with your comment brother! I'm trading my m550 in this week for a slightly darker grey then this one w only 45000 miles on it. I'm siked! Seeing this video is making me not sit still 😂😂😂😂! Stay safe brother great video and beautiful car!!!!
I have mine since 2016. All I can say is enjoy it, beat it, use it as intended. It won’t break! I have 75k miles and well over 100 track days and she is still perfect
Remus axle back is the way to go. Definitely not the most budget friendly but you get what you pay for, and retaining the valves was a big selling point for me
yeah, remus or the dinan is on the top of my list. However, I very rarely use the valves. They are open 99.9% of the time. Currently debating on some other options as well.
So I basically have the same car (Gray 6 speed f80comp but with red int), and I did the same midpipe for the same reasons as you. Too much hype for equal length when you have to ring it out to high rpms to hear it sound good. The single midpipe lets you enjoy it all the time and gives you the deep sound that this car lacks otherwise. PS what's going on with your fuel gauge 21:40 . Is it indicating boost or something like that?
Love the sound! Adds a nice touch to the upgrade, can’t wait to see what else comes along. I noticed when you were on and off throttle you gas gauge fluctuates, is that normal?
Yes, on/off throttle aggressively to hear the hard decel noises. It’s addicting haha. Gas gauge moves as it acts as a boost gauge. This is shown when I did the bms valve controller install.
Bms valve controller. I go over it in that video. Gas gauge turns into a boost gauge over 5psi. th-cam.com/video/Hf9rpQNGnIk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Wu_yvp3CNxGGg9B9
Great video. I’m trying to follow along with the “exhaust language” and I’m a little lost. I couldn’t find your answer to this question but what’s a good set up to get the deeper, meaner tone but not quite as loud and without the popping?
The midpipe in your best bet. But go with the resonated version. The pops and bags is stock mapping and does this with the stock exhaust as well. Just more prominent with the midpipe because of the louder volume.
Haha yeah I was beat up after this. Getting too old for the ol jack stands. Yes, planning on waiting for any holiday deals that come around. Most likely will snag one then.
Fantastic video! I have BMW performance exhaust and was thinking about this mid pipe with resonators and their catted down pipes. I want the deep tone but not to loud. Any thoughts?
Great choice man! I should have went it single instead of equal length but i will eventually go single in the near future. Ur F80 is coming along great so far keep up the F80 content 👍 where in jersey are u from?
Iv personally been contemplating on getting a Dinan muffler for my car to pair with the single midpipe but I'm curious on your thoughts of the mad max from active? I wish more ppl had it to get a better idea on it
@@Autofreakgarage I did some research and the calculated air pressure for those tires and axel weight is 41.5 PSI. I have been running 39 front and 36 rear and the car handles better. Recommend doing research, 33 is too low.
Not the only one to notice. With the bms valve controller, you can turn the fuel gauge into a boost gauge. Over 5 psi, it shows the boost level via fuel gauge.
It hasnt really solved the raspy dull tones these things make. It seems to be very difficult to solve. Most exhaust just make these things sound louder and its really not a good thing. Phil from Driftworks is working on some fancy exhaust downpipes and other bits to try and make these things sound more like an n55 screamer or more 2jz. The parts maybe produced for sale too which is promising. I know the equal length exhausts work well on these too.
Inline 6’s have a natural rasp that can be solved, but usually still is transparent on any setup. Ever experience an s54? Now that is rasp haha. But the aa single rectifies a lot of the bad tones and makes it way better with a simple solution. Should be interesting to see what Phil does, but usually when people add downpipes, it gets more raspy unless you move to a resonated mid section.
Sweet looking M3 there buddy & a manual….😳. Sound nice until the pops & bangs started, got the titanium M-Performance system on my CS & comp cab, sound awesome 👌
If you ever decide to get rid of that big can in the back Active makes a muffler called the MAD MAX it’s what I run paired with the single mp and it’s easily my favorite sounding set up for the S55. Great video as always
@@Autofreakgarage what are you running now & are you happy with whatever switch you made & are you planning to change it further? & what kind of sound are you trying to achieve?
I went to a full inked custom’s setup. Yes very happy. Wanted to get rid of the rasp and buzzing associated with the s55. Check my other videos on my exhaust changes. Have a new video coming out next week with the latest change. th-cam.com/video/qCDRt5_zTYI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Yb_PjpLZG6Tpi-uL
This has to be one of the cleanest F80’s I’ve ever seen. What a build man.

Crank hub ?
Great to hear reason I got mine was going to get a Mercedes c63 but one my homies had a m4 and it was to reliable not to get
“It makes the car sound 10x louder. Phenomenal” 😂
Probably the best video with all the explanations I had in mind..I need to do this to my f80 🔥🔥
This thing is starting to sound MEAN! Can't wait for the WOT pulls and curvy road POV driving!

This sounds really good. I agree with you that louder is better. Excited to see what mufflers you choose

Yes. I was running the bms canflap module and you can turn the fuel gauge into a boost gauge. Anything over 5psi it kicks in.
Heck yeahhh man... sounds sooo good! The cold start was drastically louder and sounded mean!
Wait until you see the video coming out of the comparison between stock to this. It's a huge jump in volume!
This is an extremely well-done video
Been watching since the sti. I know youre such a great person

Did you notice your fuel gauge jumped @21:50? Normal occurrence or just random?
I had the bms valve controller on the car. The fuel gauge acts as a boost gauge. That’s why you see it move when under load.
Looks good Chris, but I think it’s time to buy yourself a quick Jack. So worth it when working underneath the car or even just switching wheels
Haha you’re telling me. Every single time I have to do work on the car I yell at myself that I need to get them. Definitely in the near future!
Just finished watching your Vlog and me watching you crawling underneath your car made my back hurts lol ..
Just watched out for the Home Depot Black Friday deal, I bought my 5000lb quick Jack last year and it was $400 off , can’t beat it
Haha yeah I was beat up after this. Getting too old for the ol jack stands.
Yes, planning on waiting for any holiday deals that come around. Most likely will snag one then.
So in this video are you running stock dp, single mid & stock muffler?
Correct
Did you tune your car to get it to burble on shifts and revs or is that all from adding the single mid pipe??
In this video it’s on stock mapping.
@@Autofreakgarage im trying to get a single mid pipe for my f82 and this video has really helped and explained all there is to know about it. Thanks
Sounds great! Curious, do you notice a performance hit with a single mid pipe due to potentially less flow?
Didn’t notice a difference at all. I have since changed the setup since this video.
Fantastic video! I have BMW performance exhaust and was thinking about this mid pipe with resonators and their catted down pipes. I want the deep tone but not to loud. Any thoughts?
It’s a great piece to add some serious volume but keep the drone away and it still driveable for everyday.

I’m considering the madmax as well. Seems to do a good job and offering the best of both worlds. Just a bit funky looking, but definitely an option.
What air pressure you running on your tires? I have same wheels and tires. I find BMW recommendations to low.
33 or so
@@Autofreakgarage I did some research and the calculated air pressure for those tires and axel weight is 41.5 PSI. I have been running 39 front and 36 rear and the car handles better. Recommend doing research, 33 is too low.
I don’t run these tires or wheels anymore
Great video, would love to see a POV driving video with the new exhaust setup!
Coming! Full exhaust video will be out comparing stock to this. Lots of clips!
Hey did you use the oem gasket where the downpipe and mid pipe meet? Just bought a use one not sure if i need to get new gasket
I reused mine. Only 19k miles on the car and they were in great shape. If you have more miles, I would recommend getting a new set.
21:51 am i the only who noticed the fuel gauge go from zero to half tank??
Not the only one to notice. With the bms valve controller, you can turn the fuel gauge into a boost gauge. Over 5 psi, it shows the boost level via fuel gauge.
how do you always get a sweet shine on your cars!? they look amazing! I can't seem to shine my wrx like that

Non
Will I be able to pass smog in California lmk somebody
Yes you’ll be fine as the cats are not touched and will still be emission friendly.
What’s wrong with your gas meter
Bms valve controller module allows you to turn the gas gauge into a boost gauge. When it his over 5 psi, gauge will move based on how much boost.
is this with stock DP's ?
Yes
I actually love stock sound of f80 m3 kept my m3 f80 fully stock and I'm glad I have!! Stock is best 👌
Sigh I really need to sell the Tesla & buy one of these. 😢
I support this decision.
