one of the biggest things I’m hoping for with the next Nintendo console, switch or not, is changes to the controllers. the layout and overall feel of the controllers is fine, but the mechanics of them can be unreliable, especially over time. joy-con drift is the biggest of these problems, but i would hope to see improvements across the board.

They should keep the form factor and screen size. Performance, Bluetooth, Wireless, Bigger external expansion memory, Fast Charging and crispier resolution is all that it needs to improve on. If they can make a dock that would help support 4K games that would be a bonus.

@@OHKOKyle Just a slight correction to your misinformation: Although it's true that they support 4k, Nintendo has no plans to create 4k Switch 2. The reason the docks are 4k is because it was cheaper for them to buy the 4k HDMI ports/cables, and they are very good for just 1080p output. They DID NOT make them 4k as to future-proof. They have no plans for 4k Switch 2. It's pointless for 90% of Nintendo games, and costs too much money and power to be an option until at least Switch 3/2030. The Switch 2 would struggle to even offer native, stable 4k and 30 fps. You're living in a fantasy world, completely blinded by high-end PCs and the PS5. Even the Steam Deck only does about 1080p and 60 fps for most of its games, and it only lasts 2-3 hours before you need to charge it. It's also big and heavy, and is pretty much a portable PC. The Switch 2 will struggle to match this in some areas, though will do just as well in other areas.

To your point of Nintendo not releasing a version 2 to any console; their handhelds have done so (GB to GBA, DS to 3DS). Seeing as how their handheld only offerings no longer exist because of how much more effective the hybrid concept is; I see Nintendo becoming the hybrid console manufacturer for a few more gens to come.

This guy has no clue what he's talking about. TeraFLops isn't any sort of accurate way to determine the output of a console. It's absurd to say "HOW IS IT POSSIBLE FOR THE SWITCH 2 TO PUT OUT 1.4 TFLOPS???"
Well for starters, at single point 16 bit instructions the Switch already puts out 1TFlops. These numbers are meaningless and the video is meaningless. He makes random predictions and presents them as fact.

It was backwards compatible, but the 3DS games were not playable on the original DS. I hope the next “switch” will do something in line with that. I just want 120hz/FPS even if it’s just 1440p. @SwitchTalkChannel ปีที่แล้ว +15

You're NOT getting 120 hz and 1440p. And you don't need it. You need to play PC and stop demanding this with consoles. Nobody needs 120 fps for generic gameplay, and it's a fairly minor improvement over 60 fps, yet requires an obscene amount of power. Of course, you don't need 4k... nobody does, again. Very few games even run natively at 4k today, and a large number of gamers don't even have high-end 4k TVs, which makes it a minor improvement. It costs too much money and power. 1080p on a tiny screen (7"?) is more than enough to be very crisp and clean (equal to PS4 in general, if not better due to new A.I. and AA methods and other dev tools/tricks). What matters more than raw pixel count is how polys are handled and AA and otherwise. Pixel count itself means very little, so just saying, '1440p' doesn't mean much. The controls are also very important as to how it actually plays!
The Switch will be the level of PS4. Likely 60 fps and 1080p. That's it.
I would be shocked if it's higher, as the PS4 is not even that high -- yet it's powerful and massive.
The Switch 2 will be tiny and handheld.
Name me a handheld gaming device that's 120 fps and 1440p? The Steam Deck is only about 60Hz and 1080p?

I think it would be genius for Nintendo that if they were making another mobile console, that they would implement 2 bluetooth systems into the console: One dedicated for the controllers and another dedicated to wireless audio devices. This would fix the current issue that us consumers are dealing with because there's already a noticeable audio receiving delay even when the controllers are directly on the switch and if you were to take the switch controllers off, that would practically make it even worse for both the audio delay and now a delay in the controllers.

In terms of backwards compatibility, Switch's Tegra X1/X1+ uses AArch64 (ARMv8/v9) instruction set which is very much up to date. Cutting-edge ARM chips are using AArch64 - like Apple's M series SOCs, newer Snapdragon SOCs and ofc, NVIDIA Orin series mentioned in the rumors. Software compatibility will likely not be a problem, since all they have to do is just to keep support old system API/ABIs on the newer model. I doubt they will drastically change Switch's OS anyways, so most games might just run on them as-is.

@@JevoKitano Why not? That is how the mobile market has worked for a long time. You can buy a newer android/iPhone and have old software still work, as long as the code has the correct ARM instruction set target. Android for instance has 4 targets: intel 64 and 32bit, which are not really used in cellphones, armeabi-v7a, which is old and includes three instruction sets, and finally the arm64-v8a which is the current one and supports AArch64. Everyone is using AArch64 these days so old software should still work provided the OS keep the old ABIs and API for backwards compatibility. Graphics wise, IDK how the switch did it with some games, because of the lower-level graphics APIs, but as long as it had some sort of API/ABI then it should be a software problem instead of a hardware one. And if not, there should be a way to create a low-overhead compatibility layer, like the sorts of dxvk and MoltenVK that exist in PC and MacOS. It's very likely that the games don't "freestyle" talking to the GPU and instead talk to a driver software (super common nowadays) and drivers being software, they should be easily adjusted to adapt old games to new hardware, specially more powerful new hardware.

      It's not that simple.
ALL PCs use X86 instruction. This is what the CPU decompiles.
The Switch uses an ARM instruction. But there's no chance the Switch 2 will use an ARM processor, literally zero. However, ARM is very easy to emulate on X86, but it's impossible to "run it natively". You'd have to rewrite the games from the ground up essentially.

  • @BillSherry
    @BillSherry ปีที่แล้ว +11

7:00 It's not a completely new architecture though. Tegra Orin still uses ARM CPU cores and Nvidia GPU cores just like Tegra X1. This is akin to upgrading your PC from an i7-6900K with a GTX 980 to an i9-13900K with an RTX 3080. Now you can suddenly turn on DLSS and/or ray-tracing and your fully modded Skyrim can run smooth in 4K. This is nothing like when Sony moved from that custom cell chip in the PS3 to a bog standard x86 AMD chip in the PS4, which is what really broke their backwards compatibility.

Thank you, so much for giving proper info on any updates related to any potential new consoles from Nintendo. Many TH-camrs give minor updates or their title says update but says one sentence. You did not do this and that is super appreciated. These are just a couple of thoughts on your video and if my comments come off rude I do apologize.
I understand where you are coming from overall. Yet, the switch is more of a portable console allowing the closest option of both worlds. If you look at the mobile gaming systems from Nintendo you will notice that they do come out with different versions like the Gameboy and the DS i.e. dsi and 3ds. They do have a history of making repeat devices that improve upon the previous generation. Also, to keep the portable part, you can't go too large because, unlike most tablets, these devices are thicker, i.e., Steam deck, etc. If you go with the thinness of modern-day tablets most of them when gaming for extended periods throttle down due to passive cooling instead of active cooling. Nintendo is not a newcomer to using emulation to bring older games to newer hardware. Any thoughts on this please respond. I hope everyone has a good day or evening.

Totk is made by Nintendo after telling developers to wait so it’s not too much of a stretch to think of them releasing a patch unlocking totk’s full potential or that they just made a second version for the new switch

I'm quite excited for the successor to the switch. PS4 performances is totally fine to me. I consider the switch to me be mainly a handheld console, expecting a switch 2 to have ps5 performances is not realistic, at least at a reasonable price

And also unnecessary. If you want PS5 performance - just get a PS5. :)

My idea of a perfect Nintendo console would be close to what there is now, but I think the portable one should be the “lite” version, and the regular console should be like a traditional console, with the ability to use the portable one as a 5th player on it, like the wii u but not limited by a wifi/BT connection.

I think we're about at the point of diminish and return in regards to how powerful a gaming system could be. Whether handheld or the ones we play on our TV. I think we passed that point after Xbox 360. It was some pretty advanced hardware. And great graphics, features, etc. has been a given after that point.

The Wii u gamepad needs to be nintendos next switch 2. With a few adjustments this could be the perfect handheld =
    - Propper analogue triggers and backbuttons. Halleffect joysticks both joysticks on top and games made to be played with both joysticks!
    - Get rid of the camera, the nfc reader, the stylus and the horizontal line in the back.
    - Make the gamepad just a tiny bit smaller with bigger dpad and buttons like the gamecube controller.
    - Bigger 120 hz variable refresh rate oled screen (but not too big that it doesnt leave space for joysticks and ur hand to rest on)
    - A good fast mobile chip inside with lot of gpu power to play all games 720p 120hz, and a big battery.
    - Matte black color with rubber grips and red green blue yellow matte buttons with purple brown triggers each button its own color !

Would love a larger display, at least 9". Switched from docked to handheld mode the other day and the size is hard to play games on. Had the console right in my face, which is tiring for my arms and impractical. I don't mind a bigger device since the switch is more transportable than portable - a backpackable rather than pocketable device

1: All my old games available
2: Better joycon, the current ones are cheap and uncomfortable, I had to get a Satisfye grip to play comfortably
3: A fun new console menu that really just screams unique, like the Wii or the PS4
