What about just releasing the pressure on your bristles as you get close to the corner? That way they’re not loaded up with all that spring energy to flick the paint onto the floor in the first place.
That could work, however often times the energy still exists in order to smooth out the paint properly near the corner. This is also more to make people aware that this can happen and to be aware of it. It doesn't happen every time and there are ways like you suggested to minimize it from happening.
