Had to leave you a comment after such awesome success. I have painted ceilings before and they always came out blocky and with visible lines, no matter how many coats I applied. Used your method and they are flawless. Not one single line on the entire ceiling. Used a 14” roller and Behr Ultra Flat. Couldn’t be happier. Thanks again!
I had never painted a ceiling before. This is by far the best ceiling painting tutorial I found, after applying a first coat of ceiling paint, which wasn't so bad. But after following these directions to the letter, I managed a perfect streak free second coat. Thanks so much :)
Thank you this video saved my sanity .. I painted my 20sq meter ceiling dark charcoal . 3 coats later it still had so many streaks and marks it looked like the roof had leaked through to the plaster... I watched your video, got some pep in my step and One coat was all it needed to cover all the mess I had made .....There is not one streak or mark or anything It is perfect. . Thankyou so much ..... :)
I have to do a ceiling where they already painted the walls. How do i protect the walls? Will cutting in with a brush first leave a difference to the rolled part?
It’s funny, I tried to do a 5’ square pattern as another video recommended but it is nearly impossible to keep a wet edge and I ended up with streaks. About half way through the second coat I decided to go 1 roller width across the room at a time similar to what you’re doing. I’ll need 1 more coat because half the room has streaks from the grid pattern. I’ll use your tips and expect it will go on smooth this third time.
What if the ceiling is good except a small section can i fix it by adding a bit of a touch up in that area only ? I am not going to do the entire ceiling again .
Worked great for me! We must have had put 7 coats on and it was all patchy still, done this once and looks good now! Those marks have done my head in for 5 years since we painted when we first moved in!
What if your doing a huge ceiling. Family room, kitchen and living room combined. I've painted it and have struck marks. I'm wondering how I'm auppose to go about it. Do I do it in patches or from wall to wall. I tried will to wall but the paint on one end dries on me before I can get back to it. Would love your opinion.
Looks like more like 4ft of coverage from one dip rather than 18-20 inches but maybe its the camera angle. You're main points are spot on; flat paint, maintaining a wet edge and backrolling to smooth out any ridges. I need to work on the pep in my step 🙂
I wasted over $500.00 to get my room painted this year. They botched it really bad (roller marks, drips, patchy walls). I keep watching these videos to fix it myself, but I've always been very intimidated by painting. I'm so discouraged.
My ex wife was so lazy and she wanted her ceiling painted. I bought everything for her and laid it out. It took her 1:15 minutes to paint a 12x13 ceiling only. Needless to say, it looked awful! She had absolutely no pep in her step 😂🤣🤦🏼♂️

A good job takes someone like yourself, you care about your work.
Much appreciated!
Thank you so much. My ceiling was a mess. Now it looks like a professional job!
Nice work. I wish I would have watched this before I painted.
Practical advice on ceiling rolling...…...nice work.
Thanks!
Good advice Im going to try a 3rd coat doing this to get rid of patches and streaks. Took me a day to paint the amount of ceiling you did 😂
Good technique, good efficient explanation! Thanks
I am glad i found your video, the lines are giving me gone!

I was looking for someone to explain it the way you did...thanks man.
Awesome channel
I put a gallon and half after 3 passes. I think the 3/4 nap is what I need. Was using 1/4. Using bear premium.

I would say you have too do it in sections.
Thank you very much for your expertise.
Some good tips man. Stay safe in NYC
Can I use premium flat paint on a kitchen ceiling?? Thank you
Definitely trying your way. Thanks
Bro. Any good tip for black ceiling paint? If we'll try half- half part thn definitely joint will show..so any suggestion?
Great tutorial video! Appreciate it! Wish me luck!!!
is it possible to do this with the regular 9 inch roller? That's all I got. I imagine it's harder with shorter roller.
Absolutely
What if it's a really big! Ceiling?
Cheers for the how-to :) Stay safe.
Wouldn't your cutting on be going off already?
How do you get rid of streak marks if it is dry ?
Probably cannot. Unfortunately Would have to repaint fully.
I have painted my ceiling 3 times still see roller marks
Nice job
Thank you for your help!!!
Was this ceiling flat

18-20 inches width, not length. Lengthwise he's doing about half that ceiling.
Thanks, great advice.
👍
I’m the union we are only allowed to use 9” 3/8 sleeves I’m about to sneak that 18” bad boy in 🥴😂
Lol. But this is a 14.
Seriously?

Don’t be you will be fine 👍
I could paint walls easily,
But ceiling is a lot harder too do.
In NZ 90% of ceiling are just gib, no texture
Gotta work those tarp skills.
