Audi S5 3.0TFSI part 2. DEcat , X pipe, Tune on dyno. Did it sort out the cylinder disabling?

    Part 2 of this S5, checked the catalyc converters with camera , didnt see any damage properly so we decided to remove them for visual inspection. While the exhaust was of , we installed X pipe so the middle silencer was removed to give it better sound. When we looked inside of the downpipes this is what we found. more in the video .....

    Had the same problem 4 weeks ago with my A6 3.0 tfsi stage II, misfire on cylinder 4,5,6
    After making the cats empty, the problem was solved! 💪🏼✌🏻

      I have it on my sq5 2105. Misfiring 3 2 1 random. Spark plugs checked...coils checked. Nothing changed. It can be the passenger side catalytic convertor???

      did u need to remove whole engine or is it possible to remove cats without pulling engine up?

      I had the same issue on my A6 3.0tfsi, misfire on different cylinders. Didn't have a clue what it was until it cleared itself. Checked the cat and it was completely empty. £ months later during first lockdown and engine completely seized on my while driving. According to these clever fellas it was the blocked cat that causes heat issues within the block.
      So if you have this issue, check the cats pronto.

    Usually the exhaust manifold gasket blows after this situation, because manifold backpressure gets so high. You should be happy that your engine did not seize.

      Yes ! It’s wasn’t that bad as the one before but that was the issue why it disable the cylinder

    Hey nice video ! I have a b8 avant 2.0 tfsi , timing chains and turbo been replaced . I do in the near future want some gentle up grades , like
    Airtec intercooler and Intake , what is your opinion on exhaust ? I really
    Like the way you removed the guts from the cats! Can this be done on 2.0 tfsi ? Also most importantly I’d like possibly injector service , intake valve cleaning and possibly balance shaft delete .

    So in the end, the real cause of the missfire cylinder six, was the clogged catalyst in bank 2? Tks so much!!!

    could also be the plug gap needing tightened up as my B8 S4 used to blow the spark out when the gap was set by the book but no good once mapped

    you returned empty shell of cats into car?, did you install tube through, because is not good to have that big change in exhaust diametre

    I wish you weren't across the ocean from me. I took my S4 in suspecting timing tensioner issues and just wanted confirmation and an estimate. They told me to change my oil. Come on guys it says Audi repair above the door you must know this is a common fault. It has classic cold start rattle for a full minute on a cold day.

    My buddy has the same problem except hes on test pipes and a stage 1 tune. Swapped the coil packs around and still have misfires on cylinders 1&2

    So I get mixed feedback on adding the cold air intake. Multiple people have said it reduces reliability but also is less effective for high performance audis because there isn’t the same air flow restriction you may get on something like a Chevy Cruze etc etc where the cold air intake would then make real performance gains. Thoughts?

      Gains are better when it comes to air flow to the engine , when it comes to question if it’s good on S4 yes , but not open one , too much heat from engine bay , rather high flow one in box

    I know this is an old video, but was the misfires and P130a code caused buy the cats ??

      Yes. If you get a different miss fire across the cylinders you must check the cat. If you don't and you keep using it your engine will seize. Ask me how I know. 😒😒

      And if your betting the code p130A with no cats whats the next problem? Cz I have no cat

    How long does the dual mass and clutches last on these cars? Loving the videos can watch the timing chain changes all day long..

      better to remove the clutch delay valve if you want the clutch to last longer

    Hey. Having the same symptoms with my 2017 A6 3.0. I know this video is a bit old but would you be able to confirm that the cats were the problem? I’ve changed everything you have with mine (except the cats) and still have the issue. I’ve been trying to hunt down the cause forever now and would really appreciate if you could help me out.

      Not yet, I’ve logged a passive code P164E00 with my Obdeleven. Comes up as “oil pressure regulation valve”. Many people have suggested changing the oil pressure switches. So far I’ve done the one under the supercharger. Still have the problem. Most people say it’s the one by the oil filter housing (purple)(PN is - 06E919081F) which I went to change today but the dealer gave me the wrong switch. I just ordered the correct one and will be changing in the next day or 2 depending on when it’s ready for pick up.

      2nd lambda was mapped out otherwise you will get catalyst fault codes

      @@080darius 168k on clock , we’ll we shipped the car back to owner now , next up some upgrades for brakes and if you have a look at the graph from dyno the power is going down above 5k Rev . So for more power he will
      Need new injectors

    Me and my 5 year old son love watching mechanic videos. Your videos are great apart from the foul language that’s spoken at times or edited clips that’s thrown in with foul language.
