There are also statements in books and comics regarding variable power settings on handheld blasters, star destroyer point defence cannons, and turbolasers.
Yeah, there is a long history of that in the EU. In the movies and TV shows though, power settings were implied by variable destructive outputs and the ability to generate much higher-energy blasts compared to normal, in order to perform ad-hoc demolitions, but variable power settings were not directly mentioned in the original movies (but had to exist to explain those high-powered blasts that were produced with intent, and not by random). It's good to see blaster power settings acknowledged through some dialogue in Mandalorian.
Good to see you upload something. I’ve missed your content on Star Wars weaponry and such. I always had the headcanon that blasted had various levels of power as well, it just makes more sense to have the added versatility IMO. Anyways, how have you been?
Hey blas I have been watching your videos and their awesome, I have a question about point defense systems, where were they located on the venator and what purpose did they serve? You seem to know a lot about this stuff
Cheers :) Here in link 1 you see an active Point Defence laser turret in the lateral trench of a Venator star destroyer, similar to the Falcon's turrets in scale. Note that big gun in the first couple of seconds of the clip is a turbolaser, an anti-capital ship weapon, and not the PD laser turret we cut to right after, which is much smaller. th-cam.com/video/dMvhREG4jsQ/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=VocaProductions THis video shows you the location of several light turbolaser / PD laser weapons on a ISD . Light guns pockmark the trenches and hull in the form of bunkers, pillboxes and small turrets. th-cam.com/video/cPYzf_whPXc/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=BlasTech Edit: the cross-section also shows turreted light laser cannon point defences situated along the trench. i.pinimg.com/originals/09/1b/a3/091ba3587cd785587b43553736d7bc9d.jpg
@@blastech4095 thanks so much for responding man. The venator is said to have 52 pd guns, would that mean that theres 26 of those pd guns in link one on each side of the venator? Also do you know if there all grouped together in one spot in the venator's trenches or if they are distanced evenly.
@@aaroneasow865 Maybe there are some on other surfaces but a lot of them are spread out in the trenches. The linked cross-section shows several pairs of turreted light laser cannons situated along the trench as well, different in form to the PD gun shown in that TCW example. The TCW example was firing through a port in the trench wall, whereas the cross-sections show several enclosed turrets outside the trench wall. Both are PD lasers though. i.pinimg.com/originals/09/1b/a3/091ba3587cd785587b43553736d7bc9d.jpg
