Man this record was an instant classic, Paak has to be the most underrated artist of the last few years, the guy has been so consistent and this album is the pinnacle of it, front to back this thing is just perfect and the vibes are unmatched
I feek Paak's voice is like torn silk. His grit and rasp don't provide a super aggressive tone to his voice, it glides into anything he does but you can't ignore it
There is so much good Anderson Paak material out there, lol. Between his solo stuff, NxWorries, and Silk Sonic, dude has built one of the more impressive discographies of any artist of his generation. And the man is only 37. Good lawd
And in such a short time too. Dude was homeless with a family with a wife who didn’t speak English and never gave up on the music. Amazing come up story

I feel like a late 90s-early 00s neo-soul/hip hop dive would be a musical joyride for y’all idk. That (Erykah Badu/D’Angelo/Common/Mos Def/The Roots Soulquarian) era. There’s so many good releases to choose from in that regard
Anderson Paak is criminally underrated. He's such a talented drummer and on top of that mind-blowing singer and rapper. When I saw him for the first time in a festival, I still remember the happiness and energy that exuded from the performance. So much talent!
Track number seven actually samples the song molasses by the band Hiatus Kaiyote, naipalm is just the lead singer. That would be an amazing album to listen to for this channel. Choose your weapon by Hiatus Kaiyote. Definitely a cult classic
I love Andy and this album, but that track always made me want to turn it off and switch to the original. The only really great Hiatus sample flip is the "Atari" sample in Kendrick's "DUCKWORTH." imo.
If he likes Nai Palms voice so much then PLEASE react to Choose Your Weapon by Hiatus Kaiyote. I think he'd really enjoy the instrumentals and vocals on that album.
I saw Anderson paak live in the Uk and he was unreal. One of the best performances I have seen and he gave some much credit to his team he worked with which is amazing👏🏼👏🏼
a few recommendations you might like: the bucket list project, apollo xxi, harlan & alondra, 99,9%, innerspeaker, yesterday’s tomorrow, nothing happens
I was lucky enough to see Anderson .Paak and the Free Nationals for the first time live at a festival, back in 2019. He was a headliner and the people I were with didnt know much about him, and I only knew him from Watsky's "Ink dont Bleed" and Mac Millers' "Dang" so I told them that he might be pretty good. It was a blast. One of the first songs he played was "Come Down" and that cemented my love for his music. It also helped that he was charismatic and funny on stage, the Free Nationals were in Kiss costumes, and he said he had met Kiss on the way there. To top it off, he ended his set with "Dang" as this was about a year after Mac had died, which was nice. While I agree "Parking Lot" doesnt GO, thats why it's probably my second favorite song off the Album. It's a sit back and chill song, especially with the story part of the lyrics. Hes talking about a night where he sat and talked in a parking lot with his love for the first time. I hope you guys get around to his other two albums.
Instant thumbs up before watching. Your dad will LOVE this. One of my best friends bought me this on vinyl for my birthday and I’m still thankful years later.
With the song "Without you" Nai Palm is in a band called Hiatus Kaiyote which I think you both would love also, crazy good vocals, instrumentals and the drummer is an absolute monster!
it would be dope to see NXWorries at some point. Suede is what introduced to Anderson .Paak. Had already been rocking with Knxwledge, but once I found they were a collective as well, I was hooked. Then Malibu soon came, an instant classic for sure, especially with Madlib, 9th, and HiTek on there. Three of my favorite all time producers. BJ The Chicago Kid, Schoolboy Q, Talib Kweli, Rapsody, all dope features. This album is one of my favorites for sure.
I was listening to him back when he was called breezy lovejoy thinking how the hell his songs only had a couple thousands views. I'm so happy to see the well deserved success he is having!
I listened to this album years ago, but my taste must've changed because I'm just now realizing how good this is! Anderson Paak gonna be in rotation all week, i've got some albums to revisit.
Nice review as always guys!! I think you should do an episode listening to Little Simz's "Sometimes I Might Be Introvert" at some point, it's trully an wonderful musical experience and I think Kevin would go absolutely crazy over that record!
So happy you listened to an Anderson .Paak album! I’d love it if you listened to Ego Death or Hive Mind by The Internet. Such a cool band that deserves more recognition imo
i learned about this album cuz Paak featured on Mac’s album “Divine Feminine” which i loved. ever since then, he’s been my favorite artist. thank you so much for the review and i hope his other projects make it on the list too! 👍🏻 ❤
Great reaction. Malibu is one of my favorite albums ever. It was my introduction to AP. He's a special artist, he's impossible to pigeon-hole because he can flow effortlessly through any genre he pleases and never sound out of place or overpowered. I'd love to hear your reaction to his album Venice - it was released before Malibu with little or no budget but it still has some amazing tracks on it that have massive replay value.
Love the review as always fellas. That rapspdy verse made me think that you would both love the rapsody album Leila’s Wisdom. I think Kevin would dig it and Connor if you haven’t heard it, it’s phenomenal. Love 🔥❤️🤙
Loving the videos so much guys. Andy is my fave artist and this is one of my fave albums of all time. Been having a pretty rough stretch of days and just found out today my family dog passed but this video made my whole day. Love you guys, keep up the good work
i was just watching the swimming reaction yesterday and wondered when you guys would cover this record after you mentioned the road trip lol. excited for this one

I remember loving this album in 2016 and it's only grown on me since. Anderson .Paak is so damn talented I feel like he doesn't have a bad song or feature.
There are standout tracks, but this is an album I almost always put on front to back. Let it run. The whole damn thing is good. In a way, I almost see this album as one entity, instead of single tracks.
I first heard Paak at Dr. Dre's Compton too and already love it. Since then i follow everything this man do. Hes one of my favorites artist of all time
Man this record was an instant classic, Paak has to be the most underrated artist of the last few years, the guy has been so consistent and this album is the pinnacle of it, front to back this thing is just perfect and the vibes are unmatched
I swear I couldn’t stop playing this all year
100%, im so glad he had big success with silk sonic
Wouldn’t call him underrated - over 20 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
@@chiefhardy6312 luckily hes gotten a lot of significant mainstream popularity after silk sonic
@@chiefhardy6312 silk sonic definitely helped but when I say underrated it’s cause I think this guy should be one of the biggest names in the world

"torn silk" is an incredible, and accurate way to describe.

This is one of my favorite albums ever. Helped me through a deep depression.
has helped me during some tough times as well, great vives
Same!! I was living in my car when I first discovered this album. I listened to it every day for months.
Underrated and often overlooked song on this album is for me is Parking Lot. It’s a brilliant expression of nostalgia and the groove is tight.
That song has such a nostalgic vibe to it for some reason. I could never out my finger on why though
One of my favorite songs oat
best song on the album
EXACTLY. SO special to me
One of the best songs of all time

@@bennynthedecks maybe brown sugar?
They need to do J Dilla’s Donuts after they get through some of those!!
The Season/Carry Me still my favorite from Anderson.

just recently listened to this album for the first time. i can definitely agree with you on this
He told a great story with that song during his concert this October (2024) lol
10:53 went right over kevin's head, that side look from conner had me rolling.
Loved the Vine reference
The groove of this album is insane. It never stops, but it never overwhelms the listener. .Paak puts on a clinic here. It's a 10. Thanks, y'all!

so glad your dad liked this record, can’t wait for the eventual “Ventura” reaction.. one of my favourite albums of the 2010s
Track number seven actually samples the song molasses by the band Hiatus Kaiyote, naipalm is just the lead singer. That would be an amazing album to listen to for this channel. Choose your weapon by Hiatus Kaiyote. Definitely a cult classic
100000% what an album, what an incredible band and vocalist 😍

The replayability this albums has on me! So happy to see you both react
His tiny desk version of heart don’t stand a chance is ❤❤❤
If he likes Nai Palms voice so much then PLEASE react to Choose Your Weapon by Hiatus Kaiyote. I think he'd really enjoy the instrumentals and vocals on that album.
Even their debut Tawk Tomahawk is godtier music, but I’d kill to see them react to Breathing Underwater and Atari
Yes please

Honestly this! I’d heard two songs on a work playlist but didn’t know home well. I saw him at wireless in maybe 2014. I was mind blown 😌
First discovered Anderson on his iconic Tiny Desk concert. Listened to this straight after that and thought it was an absolutely awesome record.
I want Celebrate played at my funeral. Song always helps me appreciate my life whenever it comes on
