What really separates this reaction channel from others is the fact that y’all don’t pause the music often, if ever. You take in the full song/experience & share your thoughts at the end. Don’t get me wrong, I like certain channels that pause the songs and react to the bars/lyrics, but seeing it done differently is very refreshing.

Your dad is cool no question about it and the son is mad chill. If your dad can do an in-depth analysis on yeezus and 808s and heartbreak to understand the emotion behind it would be amazing. I like how you don't mind your Dad speaking his mind. I respect that. As I listen to these albums again with you both I'm starting to realize the concept behind kanyes progression in production on the albums being related to the chronical progression of his album titles from college drop out to graduation... after graduation he breaks out into full exploration in his production.

808’s and Heartbreak is next and I cannot wait! Kanye changed the game with that one!! The one thing I would like to say about Graduation is that at that time 50 Cent was killing the rap game. I specifically remember Kanye switching release dates on his album to come out the same week as 50’s Curtis album. A bold move on Kanye’s part. 50 laughed it off and basically suggested Kanye was crazy to try to challenge him at the time. Low and behold Kanye sold over 900,000 units the first week to take the #1 spot. 50 sold 600,000. Their careers have never been the same since.

Smart move right there, that's why 50 making great business deals.

Rappers beefing creates sales, the same way you ll be seeing Kanye beefing with drake before dropping an album and afterwards partying together. Gullible kids tend to believe anything that's told to them.

The use of the quirky, high pitched "na-na-na" from Michael Jackson's PYT (pretty young thing) in Kanye's "Good Life" is one of the best cases of sample usage I have ever heard.
It fits the song so so well! Just wanted to leave that here.

Also in reference to the 50 cent line it was actually a pretty “big” moment in hip hop culture. Because Kanye released Graduation the same day 50 cent released his second studio album “Curtis”. before that Dat 50 cent was probably the most popular rapper in the game at the time but he was still making “gangster rap” whilst Kanye was making a more conscious form of hip hop. Both artists appeared on the most popular hip hop show at the time called “106 & park” which was a “top 10 music countdown show”. 50 cent basically put out a challenge saying Kanye couldn’t outsell him because he wasn’t making gangster rap. For obvious reason Kanye won lol

Curtis wasn’t the second. The Massacre was the second. Get rich or die trying was first Curtis was the third. Fun fact: "Stronger" by Kanye West isn't just one of the most popular Kanye songs, but one of the most popular songs in music history.
On October 6th, 2021, the song went certified diamond, making it the 64th song to ever do so.
Going diamond is the equivalent of a song going platinum 10 times, and is one of the rarest achievements in music that only some the most popular artists in the world like Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, Adele, Drake, Bruno Mars, Cardi B, Lil Nas X, Katy Perry, The Weeknd, Billie Eilish, Sam Smith, Maroon 5 among others can accomplish. So the fact that Kanye is one of the only ones to do it and did it before artists like Michael Jackson is a testament to how much of an impact he has made.
