    @Chris Kelly- A nuclear stress test was ordered for March after an abnormal stress test today. I am nervous about the nuclear stress test. any words of reassurance? I guess I am nervous about getting medicine injected to increase my heart rate but I am able to use the treadmill. Do they only inject the medicine if a person cannot exercise on the treadmill?

    Some questions I have after watching this great video:
    1. My understanding that the 11mSv for a stress test is usually for a single dose. In my experience most stress tests do a double dose (at rest and then again when stressed - as you mentioned). In that case the exposure is trending toward 15-20mSv. Could you confirm this? When I asked at my regular nuclear stress test (no major abnormalities - just some chest pain) they said I received 44milliCuries in dosing in total which seems to be around 20mSv when converted.
    2. Radiation exposure also depends on the type of tracer. Most seem to use Tc-99m (what I got) but looks like Thallium-based agent can also be done which is higher effective radiation.
    3. Some stress test imagers also do a calcium CT scan which adds additional radiation exposure (~

    Very informative video. You have me concerned about the radiation exposure. I’m going to take about 6 or 7 of these . They are required annually for my job. Is this truly dangerous?

    Thanks for this video. Very informative. In particular, the radiation part was very interesting. I was diagnosed with TTP less than a year ago, and I had to do several CT scans, nuclear lung tests, MRI scans, x-rays, etc. because I was in critical condition. And I have a stress test coming up. These tests saved my life, but who knows what's all this radiation is going to do in the future.

    What if they only waited less than 10 minutes after each injection, should I be concerned? Also, I immediately became winded and was breathing very rapidly and when it was over I vomited. During the process I felt a lot of pressure in my neck and my arms down to my hands. Do you see anything I should be concerned about?

    Hi can anyone explain this I’m so stressed out thanks in advance FINDINGS:
    The stress and rest images demonstrate mild fixed defect in
    the apical through basal inferior wall, favored to represent
    attenuation artifact over prior infarct (SSS: 3, SDS: 0).
    There is no evidence of myocardial scar or ischemia.
    The left ventricular ejection fraction was calculated to be 55%
    Wall motion is normal.
    The left ventricular cavity size is normal.
    CONCLUSION:
    Mild fixed defect in the inferior wall (SSS: 3, SDS: 0), favored
    to represent attenuation artifact over prior infarct
    No evidence of ischemia.

      Your heart findings seem to be quite good by what I've been able to learn! But Always ask your doctor to carefully explain the results to you in a layman's language! (After all, we are not trained in medicine or medical terminology!😉)

    • @JohnnyOU08
      @JohnnyOU08 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You have part of your heart missing on both your rest and stress images, but the Dr. thinks this is most likely due to an attenuation artifact because your heart wall motion is normal. Attenuation artifacts are usually caused by your bowels and liver taking up the tracer and blocking the bottom side (inferior) wall of the heart.

    • @gloriamaryhaywood2217
      @gloriamaryhaywood2217 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JohnnyOU08 Oh, thanks for this info! I think the same thing happened with my own imaging. My cardio doc said the very bottom of my lower chamber had a darkish spot but said he wasn't overly concerned as the results looked pretty good and that darkish spot could be just a slight shadow cast by my abdomen? And so with the results he wasn't ordering more extensive testing or any stents either.

    • @JohnnyOU08
      @JohnnyOU08 ปีที่แล้ว

      You will be given a chemical stress test instead. You will be given a medicine that will dilate your blood vessels causing your blood pressure to dip slightly for a moment and your heart will compensate by beating faster like you were on a treadmill. It only lasts a few minutes and drinking a caffeinated beverage afterwards will help any symptoms you have to go away.

    I had a Nuclear Stress Test in the past and the results were ok, no problem. How, several years later my cardiologist wants me to have another one, but here is my problem: "I don't want to go through that experience again". With the use of a chemical my heart rate was push to the limit. Now, I told that to the new cardiologist. In response he said that this nuclear test is new and will not increase the rate, it will not be fast. Is he telling me the truth?. It's there an alternative?.

    During my stress test, the young assistant kept trying to take my blood pressure. He would remove my left arm from the bar which would cause me to lose my balance. He did this three times. Each time, his supervisor told him "Don't do that!" I had an abnormal test. I only lasted 5 minutes on the treadmill.
