I cannot thank you enough for explaining the difference between a normal stress test and nuclear stress test. I am having Lexiscan in the morning and was very worried about it and the adverse side effects possible.

please go read my post refering to this qaucks post. he is not telling you the truth!! the nuclear stress test is dangerous. its not the same as a standered exercise stress test. you get real time results with the exercise one. the nuke test gets your heart rate up with chemicals. its a phony way of doing things. its not the same as exercising. believe me your body knows the diffrence. the nuke one is equal to 400 chest x rays worth of raidiation. not to mention the fact that there have been folks die right then in there taking that cocktail they give you to race your heart. it's dangerous. i mean 400 chest x rays worth. come on now. you do the math. that doctor aint telling you the truth.

Why would they order such a risky test for someone who complained of horrid arrhythmias and whose EKG showed a few different conduction blocks ? My problem wasn't clogged arteries it was a conduction block which turned into heart failure. It would have been more beneficial to me if they sent me home after the EKG with a Holter monitor so they could capture those arrhythmias and schedule a pacemaker procedure instead of it being a big emergency and almost dying. I've never been overweight, never had a high cholesterol level, or high blood sugar.

I was always led to believe that a standard exercise stress test can detect 70+ % blockage, not 90% +.

This was an awesome explanation I'm going in tomorrow for a nuclear stress test but I refuse to get the injection to speed up my heart I'll just use the treadmill it's safer

@TheCambra Agreed the "lexiscan" chemical stress test potential risks / dangers are significant . FDA warning of heart attack or death ! Did you have your test ? Thanks

i mean what kind of doctor is he? he is a qauck!! those nuclear ones are for folks who can't walk or exercise. and still i would use caution when doing a nuclear stress test. only in dire need. i mean 400 chest x rays worth of raidiation!! not to mention you could die taking the cocktail. in fact, they get you to sign a waiver before taking the test. there is now in the world i would do that nuke one. if you do, your heart just got raidiated big time!! it's not safe. these doctors sometimes get over reactive on these test. Here's a story about a friend i have. he can't pass an ekg. he fails it every time. they said they have never seen an ekg that messed up. his conduction system is messed up. But he is living!! He has been shocked by electricity so many times , that he thinks it has messed up his electricle system in his heart. he liked to have died one time being hit with 110. the breaker blew and saved him. HERE IS WHAT THE DOCTOR WANTS TO DO JUST SO HE CAN PASS AN EKG. HE wants to kill him by shocking him and stopping his heart and restarting it again!! WTF. he may not survive the ordeal. he is living , why kill him just so he can pass a test!!WTF.

dude, you aint telling the whole story!! i just had a stress test the exercise and standered one. you get real time results. the nuclear test gets your heart rate up the phony way through chemicals. it;s not the same as exercising. i passed mine with flying colors. but I am an avid cyclist. your wrong on the standered stress test about someone with 70% blocking passing the test. there is now way in the world they could pass that test. as soon as they got there heart rate up to 150 , they would fold!! another thing i would like to point out is the fact THAT THE NUCLEAR TEST IS EQUAL TO 400CHEST X RAYS WORTH OF RAIDIATION> That's right. 400 chest x rays. Don't do it. there also have been folks die right then and there taking that cocktail they give you. why you want to mislead folks. what kind of doctor are you anyway.? tell them the truth.DON"T HAVE A NUCLEAR STRESS TEST

Yeah, because letting them shoot you full of nuclear material is a good idea under any circumstances, right? Oh, and then give you a shot that makes your heart race at 220 beats a minute for 1.5 minutes is a good idea, too, right? Gtfoh
