    Real-Time Treadmill Stress Test -
    This video demonstrates the Bruce protocol treadmill stress test. The first 4 stages of the Bruce protocol are shown in real time.
    Someone who is unsure if they can do a stress test should watch the video to judge the level of difficulty. The duration of your stress test will be determined by the person supervising your study and your exercise tolerance. It will likely be stopped at an earlier stage than what is shown.
    In another video Dr Robert Baker explains why you need a cardiac stress test. You can view it here: • Cardiac Stress Test
    General Information about Stress Test
    A cardiac stress test (or cardiac diagnostic test) is a cardiological test that measures a heart's ability to respond to external stress in a controlled clinical environment. The stress response is induced by exercise or by drug stimulation.
    Cardiac stress tests compare the coronary circulation while the patient is at rest with the same patient's circulation during maximum physical exertion, showing any abnormal blood flow to the myocardium (heart muscle tissue). The results can be interpreted as a reflection on the general physical condition of the test patient. This test can be used to diagnose coronary artery disease (also known as ischemic heart disease) and assess patient prognosis after a myocardial infarction (heart attack).
    The cardiac stress test is done with heart stimulation, either by exercise on a treadmill, pedaling a stationary exercise bicycle ergometer, or with intravenous pharmacological stimulation, with the patient connected to an electrocardiogram (ECG). People who cannot use their legs may exercise with a bicycle-like crank that they turn with their arms.

    Thanks for the video, and the tips along the way. But please, for your patients' sake, put a poster of a nature scene, like a hiking trail or even a beach, so they have that to look at instead of a poster about heart conditions, which is the last thing they want to be focused on or reminded of during a stress test. You did put some comics about stress tests, but those don't give any kind of respite from the stressful lab tech atmosphere.

    I had a stent last March and need to complete level 3 to pass my diving medical. Just tried it it in the gym and although I finished level 3 my heart rate went up to 140 which is 11 above 85% of max for my age 69. This video is very informative. I know what to aim for. Cardiac rehab were supposed to do one for me but they’re hiding behind Covid at the moment which is probably just as well because I doubt I would have been allowed to finish level 3 in my current state of unfitness.

I’m still waiting for my appointment for a cardiac MRI at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital nearly two years after my heart attack. On a stress echo, once you hit your max heart rate, they need for you to immediately jump on the echocardiogram bed next to the treadmill and hold your breath for imaging. Yeah, try holding your breath when your heart is pounding at its max. It's great fun.

Shortly after checking on at my appt. time, my name was called by what turned out to be a very outgoing, friendly but prpfessional tech. or N.P. who sat me at a table & attached an I.V. Into my arm/vein, which was used for 3 different injections over my 3 & 1/2 hr. visit. First one, I took to show the flow & actions of my heart after a period of nothing but rest. The 2nd was after I ate some lunch & relaxed for about 40 min. It was bit freakier bc I felt it consume me just about instantly as my heart bagan racing and I felt an overwhelming dizziness throughout my body & head. A bit scary but they injected another little cocktail about 4 or 5 minutes later that brought me back down to earth & normalcy. After that, another calming period of sitting in a chair to fully relax. I then took my final EKG test. That included 10 leads stuck on my chest, sides & abdomen. Not at all painful - just slightly awkward feeling. They sat me (not even lying in a tube) on this machine that scanned & took readings of how well my blood flowed. Then finally I was released to go home. I was not given any results yet. I get my follow up in a couple more days, which is when I will be advised of how we move forward. Btw- there was a treadmill right in the room but, I was never asked to use it. Overall, it was an easy experience. I don't care to repeat it though.

    • @Unchainedful
      @Unchainedful ปีที่แล้ว

      The level is not a incline percentage. Incline percentage is based on how steep the area you’re walking, for example a normal walk will equal 100% incline to climb/walk on a wall. Most mountains are at 75-90% incline. Level 15 on the treadmill at planet fitness equals 40-50% incline. Unless a rock climbing specialist went measure the incline, there’s no real way to tell the incline percentage.

      @miloradowicz 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Incline is defined as rise over run ratio. I.e. if for every meter of horizontal travel you climb 15 centimeters, you get yourself a 15% incline. To convert to degrees you just calculate the arctan of the incline as a fraction. So a 15% incline is arctan(0.15) ≈ 8.5°.
      You can calculate the incline yourself using basic trigonometry. Just measure the elevation of the front end of the deck over the rear end, the length of the deck itself, and then calculate the incline as elevation / root(length^2 - elevation^2).

      Go ahead and schedule a nuclear stress test. It will show if you have any blocked arteries or not. It is easy if you can walk on a treadmill for 12 minutes! I am 68 years old and I walked it! The radio active dye they inject doesn't have Any side-effects at all. So don't be afraid of this test! Do it to help clear your mind about any heart issues!😉

I do not see how I am supposed to exercise like this without a bra when it hurts not to be supported just sitting at a table. Even a sport bra without underwire does not give enough support and I won’t be able to exercise like this video. I am very nervous about the alternative of just taking the Lexiscan from other comments I have read on the Internet. Has anyone had any experience with this - namely being told you can’t wear a bra and what did you end up doing? Thank you

I almost got to my target heart rate they wanted me at and my legs started getting weak so they had to slow the treadmill down to stop it. Then they had to inject me with the medication that stimulates the heart like you been working out. Uuugh, it was weird having a med making it feel like you are working out. So, they said I had like 2 workouts, essentially. Anyways, I'm all done and outta there. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Thanks for asking 😃
