I had this test today. The vasodilator took my breath away and made me a bit flushed for about a minute, then everything was normal. Don't let what you heard scare you!

I had a nuclear stress test today and it made me feel short of breath and dizzy for about a minute but it went away quickly. It made me feel like I just finished exercising. It was not bad and I was pretty nervous about the test.

@@tmillstid Thought I’d let you know my chemical stress test went really well. Two technicians and an NP were with me the entire time talking me through what was happening and reassuring me. It just felt really strange to be out of breath while at rest but that was the worst of it. The contrast material also somehow left a metallic taste in my mouth which took most of the day to wear off. Be ready for that 😊. Don’t worry. You’ll do fine.

That's what I'm extremely nervous about as well, I'm a little upset because they didn't tell me this was the kind of test I was having I assumed it was just another treadmill stress test, so my anxiety is kicking in because I already feel really dizzy because of my heart condition now to stress my heart makes it even worse.

Last time I will do a nuc stress test. Felt like I wasn't going to make it. Could hardly sit up, felt like head would explode, dizzy nauseous, short of breath on a large scale. Everything he said I might feel...I felt them all at the same time. Very Scary.

I don't blame you! I had the nuclear stress test BUT I walked on the treadmill for the stress part!
I have bad artherits in my left knee but I pushed thru it. NO WAY was I going to have the heart stress drug administered to me!😉

@@HotRoute7 No. I got the radio-active dye injection like everybody does so that my blood flow could be traced. In fact you get 2 injections of that nuclear medicine! But if you can walk on the treadmill fast enough and long enough to reach your heart rate target you do not have to have the intravenous drug that chemically elevates your heart rate for you! There are some folks who cannot do the treadmill due to hip, back or knee issues. Or they are just not strong enough to walk fast or for a prolonged period of time. These patients Have to have that medication in order to reach their heart rate target.
Hope this answers your question. My stress test was very easy, but then I work out at the gym on a pretty regular basis!😉

@@HotRoute7 If you can do the treadmill you wont need that killer drug but you still need the Radioactive tracer to for the camera shots though some wacko Dr's say oh we rather you do the drug and the treadmill becuae we need your heart to not slow down after the treadmill until we get the pictures so the drug will keep you amped up till its done :)

I just had this done to me today (Lexiscan), and because it was foreign to me I got scared, but I only felt pressure as if they were filling your body up with something, like in the Matrix and you thought you were drawning and pulling you in different directions. At one point they did ask me if I wanted to call the Ambulance and I said no is not that bad, is pressure, slight headache, dizzy and at the end, you can taste the metal. It wasn't an awful experience at all, but it wasn't roses either, but no pain at all!. My advise? Stop reading the negative comments, is not that bad at all, be strong!

    • @Christynmaine

@@LornaFrasier It did go well. No worries. I had an NP and two technicians with me throughout the test. Being out of breath while at rest was the most uncomfortable part. It’s just so unnatural! But it only lasted for a few minutes and the NP was right there talking to me throughout. The nasty taste of the contrast media was pretty annoying and lasted for hours, so be prepared for that. Don’t worry. You’ll do well. They keep you so busy you won’t have time to panic. 😄

I am supposed to have this test in a few days, and I am very scared. I hate needles, including for a blood test, and the thought of an IV sickens me. I can't sleep at night thinking about it. I am so stressed, which isn't good for my heart or my blood pressure. I was not told in my dr.'s office which stress test I would be given. The treadmill test is out, and I did some research onine and found out about the other type of stress test. It scares the crap out of me. I don't like tests, period, especially if they involve needles. Thanks for listening, everyone. I just may call the place and cancel the test.

@@beautybysalina4261 Just walked out and in my car lol. Went great! Didn’t feel anything at all. Other than the needle for the injection which I barely felt that. No side effects at all. She said there was another injection that used to be used that caused side effects on more people, but now they use to an injection called lexiscan and most people have zero side effects and those that do its so minor and passes in under a minute. I was in and out right at 2 hours. Super, SUPER simple and I am glad it’s outta the way! I have had a regular stress test on the treadmill in the past and that was hard work. This was absolutely super simple easy to do and no side effects whatsoever. They didn’t tell me any results. They said my doctor will call, but they also in the same sentence said if they saw something bad, they would’ve sent me to the hospital, so no news is basically good or better news. If you guys have any questions feel free to ask but if you have it scheduled get it done it’s no big deal. And I am a major wimp when it comes to this kind of stuff I had myself talked into dying on the table and going to have a heart attack and everything else I could imagine and this was so easy. It was less stressful than going out to lunch lol.

And the last time I had a stress test that was just on a treadmill my tachycardia acted up so bad I started seeing stars and felt like I was going to pass out, and instead of sympathizing they said give me five more minutes LOL. I just told him no and jumped off I'm like I don't think you quite understand what passing out means. So I'm afraid I'm going to go there they're going to start injecting me with that stuff and I'm going to have an allergic reaction

The worst part is sitting still the 2 times under the scanning camera. BEFORE test and AFTER...The process requires a lot of waiting time for the nuclear meds to get to the heart. The actual STRESS just makes you breathe a lot more and may scare you a little. It's normal...
