I played a game in the 90's as a kid. I loved it, but could never remember what it was called, just what it looked like. It was Firepower 2000. Holy hell dude, I'm so glad I'm going through every single one of your videos. I don't usually comment, but I had to say thank you for helping me identify an amazing childhood memory of mine. Thanks for all the content. I've got a long way to go before I reach your current vids, but I'm loving every minute of your content.
IMO Demon's Crest belongs in the same category. It got a bit more clout these days, but back in the day it was one of those weird games no one heard of, since it received hardly any marketing. Great game. I highly recommend it.
@@dvxShoeN I am German too. I bought Demon's Crest at a Media Markt purely because of the gnarley cover art. Only once I played it, I realized it was a sequel to Gargoyles Quest
I always felt Pitfall the mayan adventure was a common but hugely underrated game...super smooth animation, incredible visuals, and awesome gameplay. I never understood why this game doesent get recognized more its so good.
You just reminded me of Ninja Warriors with this one,. Great game, and one of the best games on the SNES in my opinion, and that ending....people just have to play it.
Oh, and I have a few more things to add about Run Saber, you can also play it in either 2 player alternating mode or 2 player simultaneous mode and you can also choose from two different characters to play as in the game.
Pieces is my #1 SNES recommendation. The multiplayer content seems like it never ends and the single player outside of the campaign puzzles become addictive to master.
@@thatvideogamesshow , the spiritual sequel of sorts to Cybernator, which is Metal Warriors, is also worth playing as well. Fun fact, LucasArts actually handled the NTSB-U publishing rights, alongside Konami, for both Cybernator and Metal Warriors. Another fun fact is that those two games also have a prequel game, or, in the case of Metal Warriors, a prequel game in spirit, that is called Target Earth for, ironically enough, the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive and it was not ported, developed, or published by Konami, as far as I can tell, but, rather, NCS (Nippon Computer Systems, which technically made the first two games, and is also now known as Masaya Games, which is a division of Extreme Co. Ltd.). Moreover, the first two games are a part of the Assault Suit series. Target Earth was actually Assault Suit Leynos and Cybernator was actually Assault Suit Valken in Japan. Also, despite sharing many of the same styling cues as Target Earth and Cybernator, Metal Warriors is, oddly enough, NOT a sequel to either game, or any other of the Assault Suit games. However, later on, there would be three more sequels in the franchise, the first one being Assault Suit Leynos 2 for the Sega Saturn, Assault Suits Valken 2 for the Sony PlayStation, and two possible remakes/reboots in Assault Suit Leynos for the Sony PlayStation 2 (which is available in PAL regions) and Assault Suit Valken, which is available for the Sony PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows.
I would say True Lies was the first movie-based video game that I truly enjoyed. Later, when I was able to try Willow on the NES via emulation, I found I liked it too, but I could never find it for rent or purchase around me.
Since a couple of days I search for snes goodies. Sparkster was another game I never heard of again but that I loved to play as a child. Huge flashback right there. Thanks man.
Knights of the Round might be dated for those without the nostalgia, but my god dude... My little bro and myself would just run home from school in like 2003 and just play hours of that game. It was the coolest shit to us. Our parents never bought us the latest stuff but we couldn't complain because we got to play on their SNES.
The SNES is an amazing console. It's still my favourite system with the best library of games. As a true fan of old school fighting games, I have to try Battle Tycoon. It looks very interesting! The 16bit aera was the most interesting one imo.
In Japan, the game is called The Ninja Warriors Again, and, for its PS4, Xbox, PC, and Switch remake, it also added new enemy characters, bosses, stages, and two new playable characters, as well as the original Ninja Warriors arcade game as a hidden Easter egg.
I wouldn't have thought games like Blackthorne, Sparkster, Run Saber and 7th Saga would make a list like this. Those games are all quite well known I would have thought. It should also be worth mentioning that The Firemen was one of the few SNES games that were actually PAL exclusive and never made it to North America.
@@thatvideogamesshow , if you cannot get The Firemen (like those of us that live in the NTSB-U region, for example), then an equally good alternate game to get is called The Ignition Factor, which, like The Firemen, also gets overlooked as a game. Alternatively, you can go full gray market and get a reproduction cart of The Firemen to play on an NTSB-U region SNES console.
I didn't even realise Knights of The Round made it to the SNES. That was one game I was looking out for, as I really liked the arcade. How did I miss it????
Blackthorne and The Firemen are really good. I plan on playing the Genesis version of Sparkster after I finish Rocket Knight Adventures. And then I'm gonna move onto the SNES version because I heard that the two versions are very different.
Sonic Blast Man 2 and King of Dragons looks a lot like really hidden gems if you ask me, the original Sonic Blast Man sucked pretty badly but there was a sequel which was a big improvement, but I get the feeling that I'm pretty much the only one in my home town that knows about it... King of Dragon is like Actraiser, Knight of the Round and Golden Axe mixed up together, and as the game's titles suggests it, a big Red Dragon is on a rampage in the entire realm and it's up to the players to kill the Dragon, simple as that, but don't expect it to be easy...
7th Saga was a flawed gem in many ways. Sadly, they created a fatal flaw when porting it to the US. For the US version, in order to artificially lengthen the game, they decreased the stat gains upon the character leveling up. Also note that the battles against the other apprentices automatically set their levels equal to yours. The big issue is that the enemy apprentices kept their Japanese level up gains. In other words, the higher your level, the further you fall behind your fellow apprentices. This almost makes having Valsu as a character essential. Fortunately, there is a hack that restores the original Japanese level ups, making the game much more forgiving, particularly with the apprentice battles.
I had Sparkster and Knights of the Round but one of my cousins stole my copies. I found the Capcom collection 1+2 on ps2 with KotR and King if the Dragons but Sparkster I never recovered.
I've played 7th Saga and Knights of the Round from this list. Knights of the Round was a decent arcade port that didn't sacrifice too much in terms of performance. 7th Saga? Well, when it was brought to the US, they reduced the number of attribute points you gain, but not of your rivals, which would lead to very hard, if not impossible, fights if you tried to power-level. I'd wager 7th Saga is one that might benefit from a re-release on better hardware, and maybe a restoration to the Japanese attributes on level-up.
Super Swiv (Firepower 2000) is nowhere near a "hidden gem" It was a massive game in the 90s, especially on the Amiga. It reviewed really, really well too.
@matt well I guess it is possible to play any game, but it wouldn't be fun for me. I like knowing the controls, the rules, and especially the story. Might as well just play calculator, press buttons and see the screen change

The SNES has a ton of awesome underrated games...Twisted Tales of Spike McFang is probably the one I consider a hidden gem 😄
Never heard of that one mate! I’ll have to check it out, thanks for the tip DGR 🙂

I’m glad this list isn’t just a bunch of RPG’s
Knights Of The Realm is an arcade classic!! Great Vid!
7th Saga is bomb and a favorite of mine. Pro tip: the game splits experience between your two characters and is actually easier solo.
Play the sequel mystic ark

This, Blackthorne plays very much like games like Flashback and Another World, and honestly not much like Castlevania at all.

Cool to see games that actually aren't talked about very much. Usually these hidden gems lists are the same games as all the other hidden gems lists.
Thank you. That's just what I need right now. Very good games.
Can only imagine TVGS traded games in between classes. He must've ploughed through alot of cartridges. Impressive!
