    I watched your video and was feeling like a boss because you made it look so easy and decided to give it a try. I got all the way down to the air box, got all the screws out, and then got put in my place trying to wrestle the air box out hahaha. My air box didn't come out nearly as easy as you guys made it look!!! I got it eventually though, the trick was to just get rough with it and rip it out. Thanks again for the video, it was a great help!!!

    Thanks for posting the video. I just read everyones comments and they were very helpful. Thanks for all the great info. Its 2021 and I just picked up a 2004 ninja 250 hope I can make it run and sound great with all your advise.

    I don't know if you still ride this bike or not, but hopefully this will help somebody. I use the K&N filter with the part # R-0990 and it only costs roughly $41. Its just 1 filter instead of having to purchase 2 separate filters, but it is an oval filter with 2 flanges to cover both carbs. Hope this helps somebody!

      what jets did you go with after installing that filter? I just got a 2003 ninja 250r and I want to use that filter you mentioned.

      jetting is a bitch, I don't fully understand it yet.

    • @mpshags
      @mpshags 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jake Lovelace jetting is kind of touchy and will depend on your location (altitude, temperature, exaust modifications, etc.) but from what I understand, the jet size needs to be increased slightly to accommodate for the increased air flow. I don't fully understand how it all works. On a positive note, the carb is extremely easy to get out now compared to before, so that is a serious bonus and will make experimenting with your jets a lot easier to accomplish and test.

      mpshags cool thanks! I'm reading all about it now.

    • @mpshags
      @mpshags 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jake Lovelace I went with a "Spectre" air filter from Auto zone to cover up the crank case breather hose. It was the smallest filter they had, a little blue a chrome filter. Cost $10 for the filter plus another $10 for hose clamps and brass coupler to join the breather hose and filter. All in all, I f*****g LOVE this modification, my bike sounds like a bike now instead of a moped!! I am indeed having jetting issues, but I need to check my valve clearances and sync my carbs before I dive into that farther. With a little fine tuning, it will be a truly worthy upgrade!!

    I have a 2004 ninja 250 that I want to do this mod to, thanks for the video!!!. It seems like it would save tremendous amount of time when trying to work on the carbs and other components of the motor. I know the carbs on these little 250's can be a pain is the ass to get out. For people who don't have the knowledge to work on their own stuff and have to take it to a shop, this mod can save some serious time...and time is money....especially at $65/hr average shop rate

  • @Vade1313
    @Vade1313  16 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You can tune the carb with 4mm washers. It is easyer to just buy the jets. about $9.00 x 2. super easy to install. most ninjas come with 105 jets. so if you give more air flow you need more fuel flow. i went with 108 jets and now is pulling full power out of my pods.

    "Just a little jet adjustment" more like gotta buy a set of jet kits. In the end pod filters dont help on kawasaki bikes. Keep the stock airbox and do a fog mod or klean mod on it. Helps with the stutter at around 6krpm

    • @Ano_Ba_Girl
      @Ano_Ba_Girl 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +reid davis So it wasnt just me that had a stutter at 6k!
      all I did to fix it was restrict the airflow by adding foam air filter inside the k&n filter.
      I did it for the sound not for any performance gain so it works for me. $40 is cheaper than $400 for new pipes

    • @Ano_Ba_Girl
      @Ano_Ba_Girl 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +reid davis HEY! What did you do with the big tube coming from the engine? just leave it open? along with the other lines 1 clear, another black and then the other black coming from the engine that is curved! pls let me know because I have no idea at all

    • @reiddavis1271
      @reiddavis1271 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +MotoTherapy what part of the engine are these tubes coming from? Not quite sure what you are reffering to aha.

    • @Ano_Ba_Girl
      @Ano_Ba_Girl 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +reid davis well the main concern is the tube coming up from the engine. It used to connect to the side of the airbox

    • @reiddavis1271
      @reiddavis1271 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +MotoTherapy i would try and find a piece of pillow case about 2x2 and put it over top and zapstrap it then cut the excess fabric off. To my knowledge it just cant get any dirt in there and you wont need to do anything drastic to stop from all dust particles from getting in

  • @Vade1313
    @Vade1313  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Its been years when i did that. i don't remember what size. But you can just take off your carb and walk it in to a K&N carrier like "car-quest, auto-zone, checker" and ask them to size the intake side of your carb for K&N pods. They should be able to help you out.

  • @Vade1313

    Holy cow! What kind of fluid? I left that "s" looking hose on the top of the crank case. Its just for the pressure in the case when the engine is running. You shouldn't have any fluids from there. The only thing it might be is oil. If it is oil, what color? If it looks like dirty or clean oil then you have put to much oil in the engine. drain oil and use the eye glass on the side of the engine when filling. If the oil looks milky or white, then you have a coolant leak inside your engine

  • @ISUBAJA
    @ISUBAJA 11 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    and yes running lean can destroy your engine, when an engine runs lean it runs hot, too hot for too long and you will end up literally burning a hole in the top of the piston. of course if you properly re jetted you will be alright

  • @Vade1313
    @Vade1313  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @MrKayak400 its my brothers bike and he changed something in the carb so it dosent run lean. I think it was some fuel jet thing, very simple. Also how would running lean break your motor? might not get the most hp out of it but its not gonna break it, fast idle will wear it out more in the long run but thats something else. Drilling holes in your air filter is never a good idea it totally defeats haveing a filter, dirt and dust can go right into the engine.

    What k&n air filters did you purchase and you just attached directly on to your carbs is what it looks like. Do the air filters stay on tight and have you had any issues since you've done this install

    or I guess Id like to know where you got these air filters too. Cause the only ones I can find for a 2005 ninja 250 is the combined one, not separate pods.

  • @lambdachi3121
    @lambdachi3121 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    probably a stupid question but what is the vacuum line on the petcock supposed to connect to? I can see the main line is short and connects directly to the carb but the other line seems to dissappear behind the carb; where does it end up connecting to?

    just my advise but i would put some dyno jets in there and slap a yoshi pipe on and then you will get to agervate some ppl Xp lol if you get the exsuast you got to get the stage 3 jets tho i cant wait to put some on my yamaha

      Vade1313 How did you get some of the screws out of the airbox (around 7:00) that are super close to the frame? I can't figure out a way to get a screwdriver on several of them straight.

    • @Vade1313

      might use a smaller screw driver or a screw driver attachment with a ratchet or maybe a leathermen tool

      Should be oil if anything, is the oil level to high in your crank case? We just put the old rubber house back on that went to the air box and put a filter on the end so dirt won't get in the engine. It's a vent hole for the crank case, just let it vent and don't let dirt get in

    • @satelitesgomez

      +Vade Hollingsworth i got some pic that i want TO show you of that Yo see if u can give me ideas because the oil smell like gas

    • @Vade1313
      @Vade1313  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't know about that, just put the hose back on and put a filter on the end with a hose clamp, all it did before was go to an air box, think about it

    • @satelitesgomez

    A: 10% more power is probably BS, B: the only reason you should do this is if you bike is tuned for it or runs rich from the factory, because you can destroy your engine.

      It's been years but,
      I think #5 or #7 on the Jets and 10 mm washer. It might need more then one washer. One at a time in tell your power band is at peek.

    6.30 what is that mine is oil caming out of there

    • @ACTIONDANhero
      @ACTIONDANhero 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The S shaped hose hes touching at 6:30 is an overflow hose for transmition oil. Oil will never come out of it unless your bike is lying on its side or upsidedown or some rare big problem with your bike.
      If you cut and remove the air box like in this video to replace with new air fliter. Nothing will then be connected to the S shaped (transmition overflow hose) and dirt etc can get inside. So whats best to do is place some form of tiny filter onto the bare end of this S hose. Or supper easy n good enough (like most do). Is just remove the S hose and replace it with a longer one 25-40cms) that you can lay out and quick tie to your other 2 drip hoses hanging under the bike infront of your rear wheel.

    Okay so this is a really dumb question. But I just tried this today and I got an air filter a bit different from yours. Its one filter with both areas to go into the carb rather than 2 seperate ones but I cannot figure out how to attatch them to the carb with just those metal rings...your video kinda skips over that part. any advice?

    10% no way?

  • @littellsam
    @littellsam 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Incorrect... you have to adjust the main jet size (High RPM), you have to raise the needles (Midrange), and then adjust the mixture screws (Low RPM) in order to adjust to the increased air flow of the new PODS correctly... You will still be losing power with midrange and high RPM if you only adjust the mixture screws...

    I have a 96 and i noticed my airbox was leaking and i thought to my self thaaat should not be like that so i riped out the box ,carborator ,fixed all my gaskeds just cuz it was all there and said why not do the chain . The question i have for you bro is would a single filter to the double carb be better then a double pod? I only ask because im going custom and ima make alot of mods to this area , if you could email me at zabalaurance@yahoo.com
