haha i don't understand why this video isn't a meme. socket set to the face, doesn't know where the o-ring goes and uses the wrong oil. you cheered me up big time. cheers
There's a metal washer on the old filter that you need to swap into the new filter, it usually sticks to it when you take it out. Also when you "prime" the new o-ring, you should just dip your finger in the oil and coat it, run your hands around the entire thing, no need to dip it in the bucket with oil, just makes more of a mess..
The smaller o-ring for the filter doesn't go on top of the filter element, it wraps around the stem at the base of the oil filter plate. It's supposed to be removed and replaced.
The small o ring doesn't go where u put it, u separate the bolt and plate and it goes right before bolt head you'll see the ridge for it and old o ring...
Helpful video, thanks! Does anyone know can this be done without a torque wrench? As in using an ordinary wrench, and just being careful not to overtighten the filter bolt in the end?
I had my oil filter and oil change but when I got it back the oil was still black I want to do it myself as I feel the garage didn’t do a good enough job do I just under the two bolts or do I still need to remove the filter so I get all the old oil out thanks
Hello mate,, do you know if the front suspensión (forks), can be changed for a kind of forks you can regulate preload, compresion, extensión in a ninja 250r 2011?
the oil filter catches any pieces of junk whether it be small pieces of metal or other things so if its full then the oil cant pass through it and wont filter the oil so youll have dirty oil and you dont want that stuff running through your gears or engine.
Absolutely nothing.... Also never change your oil it works better that way. And just drain your all your coolant. Its for bitchs my boosted gixxer doesn't have any fluids. weight reduction.
Also, you want to start the bike up and let the oil circulate through the filter and then shut it off, let it sit for 5 minutes so the oil can drip back down and then top off the oil to the correct level.
Alright, I just got a 98 ninja 250, the oil needs to be changed, I was going to get fram but I have been seeing a bit of hate in the comments on fram... So what should I be looking at?
Dude the ninja uses a wet clutch system where the motor and clutch use the same oil. Use motorcycle additive oil! Your tear all sorts of stuff up. BTW coming from an 09 250r rider who learned a lesson.
FYI... for anyone wanting to do an oil change for this bike, DO NOT follow this video step by step. I understand this is an old video and the mistakes made may have been realized. One the small o-ring gasket goes further down the filter bolt, it can be found upon disassembly of the filter. Also there should be an aluminum washer that goes between the spring and the filter during assembly, it looks like it was missing in this video.
Might want to change that oil again you put auto oil in your bike. oil in a motorcycle runs much hotter than the oil in an automobile engine also a motorcycle uses what is called a wet clutch auto oil will ruin your clutch.
This is so true. Really dude, not trying to troll you bc I do have some sort of a life (but still have time to comment on social media), but if your going to suggest/recommend a certain brand. Please make sure that your suggesting the kind of product that doesn't ruin your bike. That cost a few hundred to replace.
@@landinpetz It cost a few hundred dollars to buy two more liters of oil? The weight he used is the OEM spec for the bike. As long as it doesn't have energy conserving modifiers it's fine. Most of the fuckers with oldgen bikes use diesel anyway.
HE PUT THE SMALL O RING IN THE TOTALLY WRONG PLACE HENCE NOT SEEING HIM REMOVE THE OLD ONE! PUSH THE SHAFT OUT OF THE ROUND FILTER PLATE AND YOU WILL SEE THE SMALL O RING AROUND THE SHAFT IN THERE
Put the oring in the sun for a while to get the kinks out and its half sight glass not the full sight glass .Still cant believe you used car oil. Every sight glass on ALL equipment in the world is standardized to be half full when the equipment is full...so you can see it.Over filling will cause the crank shaft to froth the oil and will starve the motor just the same as if there was no oil.
Thanks, too many videos end up not actually showing what I type, + your commentary made it nicer to watch, thanks bro Edit: oh the reason I watched this was because Im stupid, and forgot to put the cap back on after putting oil in, then got back home and a whole ton of it poured out (I'm guessing from the overflow), I might of put too much in but its not leaking now, but was mainly looking to know how much the max was, arounds 1.7 liters, thanks since the gauge shows oil now and its not leaking =/ heh
Yeah you def should use motercycle oil, its different than regular motor oil because it also lubricates the clutch. Do NOT use motor oil!!!! You can find the filter and the right motorcycle oil at your local Walmart.
That´s what I use in my ZX9R. Thick cheapo oil. I like the promos. But you changed too soon, IMO. It was all too clean by the filter you can see the cleaniness of this oil charge.
Haha! Because I bought it from a girl! Lmfao! Did you not think the oil was gonna pour out when you took the filter off ;). Your to cutie...haha Now let me go flush my coolant and change my oil. Thank you!
One of the engine mounting bolts was missing on the used bike I bought, with two random wrong bolts half jammed in it's place. Also the oil is black. What exactly does "lady ridden" mean in a motorcycle ad anyway?
watching you change this oil was painful..what a fckin mess everywhere..well wish me luck i'm about to make the same fckin mess all over my driveway and hands.. Thanks for the instructional (the moment when u debate watching another video on how to do it but ur like nah fck it. I got this.)
It is NOT better to overfill oil. too much oil put in the engine, extra pressure can be put on these components, which can lead to leaks. ... Overflowing engine oil can also lead to bent engine rods and collapsed valve pipes. Spark plug fouling - Excess oil can find its way into spark plugs, which will then need to be replaced.
Well. I'm kind of curious why it matters that the bike was purchased from a female. I'm also curious why you did this video having NO IDEA what you're doing. The o ring goes on the bottom of oil filter bolt that goes into the housing. Also, you shouldn't use automotive motor oil in a motorcycle. There's detergents that will effect your bike.
Bro you should take this video down and redo it. You put the smaller o ring in the wrong location, it goes at bottom of the shaft after you take the shaft off the plate its on. I mistakenly watched this video and put my o ring in the wrong spot like a jack ass thanks to you bro...smh
P.S.A. DO NOT DO ANYTHING THIS GUY DID!!! First off, NEVER guesstimate on how much oil to use. Second, the O-ring replacement was incorrectly placed, third, ALWAYS put your bike on stands for proper level readings, I can almost guarantee he did not drain all the old oil out. This video is wrong on so many levels.

you totally put the small o ring in the wrong place, and never saw you take the old one out from where it actually is.
I enjoyed watching this because of your comedic relief to your awkward mess ups that would have made me feel bad when I do it. hahaha
"There's oil everywhere!"
That tends to happen.. when you know... you change the oil.

I really enjoyed the video but the comments make me feel like I can’t trust this guy with how I treat my precious ninja
You're right to think that. Watching this like you watch a train wreck :\
It helps if you open the Oil filler cap before draining the oil.
He did this with bare hands
The absolute mad lad
And?
This actually helped me. I just changed my oil about 2 weeks ago. 2012 Ninja 250. I've got 3k miles on it now.
You should probably do this more than once before you make a tutorial video.

Question should I use the oil that you used for this video or should I use the recommended
Dovydas Jackevicius i know this was two years ago now. Don’t follow this tutorial.. use recommended MOTORCYCLE oil. Not car oil.

what does it mean when the oil pressure warning light comes on?... idk what to do lol... i have a kawasaki ninja 250r too :(
Is it on the whole time, or just after you start the bike after it's been ridden/idle?
they are both oil drains yes.

how many liters oil sir for my ninja 250cc 2013 model

Castrol car oil in your bike bro???
ok so it's 10 years old and your doing a break in period?
