I can't believe that i made jowar roti today, I had lost the hope of making soft jowar rotis. Thank you so much for sharing the exact measurements, i have prepared in the same way and it came out super soft and yummy. Keep sharing good content like this.

Tried your recipe today for dinner. Unbelievable! I made soft and thin delicious jowar rotis which I could easily roll out with rolling pin. No mess. No more frustration!
Thanks a lot for teaching this skill. I feel it was water:flour ratio which I never got right.
Believe me I had no hope of getting jowar rotis this good... just gave it a try after you replied that you just made them with 100% jowar flour...
    God bless you dear 👍

Saw this video today and made jowar roti/bhaakri today, rolled it like your 3rd way with a rolling pin,I can't believe it turned out just as yours without breaking and was soft,
I've tried making it many times before, but never has it ever come out this thin and soft without breaking...you finally gave this hope of sticking with jowar roti for long now.Cannot THANK YOU ENOUGH .❤❤

Using boiling water instead of simply hot, and letting the dough steam itself before kneading and cooking seemed to make a huge difference. I followed these instructions precisely and I was rewarded with soft, fluffy roti that puffed in the middle just like in the video. The main trick was making them thin enough and being liberal with moisture while cooking. Having a nonstick or well-oiled tava makes them much easier to lift and flip. The steamed dough also made it very easy to manipulate these before they were cooked, they were not brittle or crumbly before or after cooking on the tava.

Some corrections: No salt is added in boiling water only jowar flour to make sticky. Then it should be mixed well with dry flour add bit water. Take small part of dough of lemon size. Put it on round Wooden plank (mane) start patting by hand then roast on tawa directly as you said.
    Thanks for promoting jowar

Being a Mysore region Kannadiga I never ventured myself into Jowar. Now that you have taught which came out very well Jowar is a part of our life. My daughter who is 2.8yrs wont feed herself but this was an exception😂. Thank you again.

@@marvoht as it's mentioned in the video, apply water on your palms while kneading to avoid the dough from sticking. N when I put it on the tawa, am putting a lil more water than shown in the video... As am not making it on a non stick pan, am greasing the pan before use... I haven't perfected it yet... Good effort and nice video, madam. One suggestion: the rotis must be much thinner when we roll them (or beat them with hands in the traditional method of making). The result will be super good. It is a staple food in the northern parts of Karnataka. Called JoLada Rotti or Bhaakri. Also, jowar is called joLa in Kannada.

Hi Nisha hope things are better now in Kerala. I see that you are uploading your wonderful videos again. I had mentioned earlier on this page how your Jowar roti has become a staple in my kitchen now and how well it suits my husband's palate as he has issues with gluten. I have also learnt from you to add moringa leaves and spices to it. And another ingredient I have started adding to it which is whole gram sattu. This I have found, goes well with other ingredients and rotis are soft and adds protein to the dish. I wanted to share this with you.

Hi pravallika, Jowar roti also puffs up when u do it in a correct way. I started making rotis recently, I also thought same like u before. The procedure is easy but One difficult thing I found is transferring the roti to pan. ThanQ

That is because your mum is experienced. The 1st method is for beginners & inexperienced!

    • @dabsmomos

@@mrsheenaansari7909 Follow all the measurements while preparing dough. Hot water is vey essential for making bhakri. Use rolling pin between clean plastic sheets to make the roti. My advice is not to use 2nd method until u re practiced. These bhakti are not easy. Even I find it difficult but in my experience if u follow the measurements while kneading the dough etc it makes task easier. Hope this helps.
