    This is exactly how I straighten my beard. I learned that going from underneath helped eliminate the curl from only brushing downward. If you want it straight and long this is the way to go. I use a round brush. I need me one of those bamboo brushes now!!

    I wish I had seen this video a few weeks ago. I have a very curly beard and I actually bought a beard straightener and I hate how it left my beard. It looked fried, even when I used it on its lowest setting. I tried your method, and I’m going to have to practice a few times, but it worked better than anything else I’ve tried. Thank you for the advice and video. Y’all’s products are great!

    • @livebearded
      @livebearded  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah bro! We are strongly against straighteners, regardless of the price. Our team member Woody did a split test of one in the 300 dollar range vs one in the 20 dollar range and they both destroyed his beard on the lowest settings. Butter and a blow dryer are where it's at!

    I've discovered it helps a lot to brush your beard into shape every night just before bed. Any pressure from your pillow during the night is then pressing it INTO shape, not out of shape. I also style my beard with a pretty sticky home-made beard wax (60% beeswax 40% coconut oil) brushed in with a hog bristle brush.

    Question: Is the drying in the second step with just the oil necessary? I feel like the drying in the 3rd step with the beard butter should also do the job, so it would be:
    1. wash
    2. apply oil
    3. apply butter
    4. dry
    what do you think?

    • @livebearded

      There are other alternatives, but most will leave your beard tacky feeling as they have wax in them. Personally I've found that the butter and blow dry method keeps my beard straight all day. Mine is a bit longer than this one.

      Water mouse if its curving around ur chin it means ur pulling the hair too tightly in and forcing it to stay with ur chin line before pointing down. Try to not push it so firmly against the skin just being light with a brush and come will fix this pretty quickly. 😎

    Great video and hope that you're still monitoring this post. I shower at night due to getting up so early for work. I usually style the beard after the shower but as it gets longer I'm noticing I need to do more in the morning. Should I still be using both oil and the butter in the morning as well to get that styling? I don't want to damage the beard using too much product.

    • @livebearded
      @livebearded  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question. Not to worry. Just dampen it in the morning, wipe off excess water with towel. Apply oil, make sure you are massaging it into the skin behind the beard. Then follow up with butter. The only thing you need to do that we would recommend before bed is applying a little bit of oil before bed so your face stays hydrated overnight!

      depending on the ingredients, it could definitely work in a similar way!

  • @drewandjeffers5695
    @drewandjeffers5695 ปีที่แล้ว

    In my opinion, you don't have to use a flat iron to straighten your beard there's also the straightening brush that could tame your beard a little bit faster. It has that ceramic coating with them bristles and if it touches your face that thing is warm and it's not going to burn you or anything. Before you use the straightening brush, you have to use some heat protectant made for your beard. Straightening brushes are safer to use on your head hair and your beard hair. That's your choice. Once you're done straightening your beard, you might want to let it cool because when your hair gets cool with the style you want it just hardens the beard however still use some products for your beard if you want like for example beard oil alongside leave in beard conditioner.

    • @livebearded
      @livebearded  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      we personally do not recommend heated brushes. They apply very high, direct heat to the follicle which can cause excessive drying and damage to the follicle. Personally, we recommend a hair dryer and rounded brush or comb, it applies a much lower level of heat that is not direct 🤘

    • @drewandjeffers5695
      @drewandjeffers5695 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@livebearded well it may not be for anyone, for guys I mean. Depending on the type of hair you have if you have a fine or coarse hair texture and you have either a straight or wavy hair type you don't have to use it. Another thing about the heat styling tools *_(I'm talking about flat irons, straightening brushes and combs),_* you don't use it everyday. You use it sparingly. Same goes for hair dryers, use it on the coolest setting.

Whenever I use a straightening comb I put it on the lowest setting and I still get the waves out without maximum damage on my hair.. I just think the heated comb works way better! Hey bro! We're glad you found something that works for you, that's what it's all about. We are really hesitant about heated brushes and combs. One of our team members tested a popular brand from Amazon vs a high end salon quality brush, both absolutely straightened the beard, but both also registered much higher temperatures than what they were reading, causing beards to be damaged. One guy had to cut 4 inches off his beard 😳 So, be very cautious and be sure to use oils and butters! Using butter before blow drying actually helps it straighten as well. Beard balm is more waxy and leaves your beard feeling gunky. We suggest beard butter after you oil and then hit it with low heat and a comb or brush with a blow dryer. This tames even the most unruly beards.

      Time and patience brother. Usually it takes about 4-5 months to start getting a full, nice beard. Being 17 though your beard will only get better as you get older.

    Very nice my friend! I my opinion you should go more for cube shape beard because it would give you more edge especially with you head shape. If you choose to go rounded beard when your head is round or egg like shape you make it looking even more rounded so it is like having a beer belly and wearing tight shirt which ultimately enhance bad points of your body.
    It is just my opinion but your beard and decision to make, do whatever you like. Have a good day ;)

    A bit contradictive video. First he proclaims "DON'T USE A STRAIGHTENER" Because the heat will dry your beard out. Then tells you to use a dryer on high heat, LOL...SERIOUSLY? I've been using a hairbrush style straightener (kills two birds with one stone) for years. Works great on 380° for me. I've never experienced any of the issues he mentioned, NEVER.

    • @livebearded
      @livebearded  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey Brother! I was referring to this kind of straighter. as they use high heat and will indeed damage hair. I should have put a picture or made it more clear. Sorry about that! this straightener literally attacks your hair from all sides with a static heat. as where a blow dryer will cool down every inch from the heating element. but that is more science that most what to hear... Here is the straighter that I was talking about! www.amazon.com/OLANSY-Straightener-Upgraded-Straightening-Dual-Voltage/dp/B07L8JLKQT/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1546899267&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=hair+straightener&psc=1

    ***Heres my Recipe*** Brother i got a curly beard 2 1/2 times longer than yours & ive been straightening, strengthening & softening mine for years. I do my beard doing my beard kinda close to the same procedure as you for years. But i care for & straighten my beard a little differently, heres my procedure: I wash & straighten my beard every other day & sometimes every 3 days. The days in between that i dont put shampoo in my beard I only take a shower & get no shampoo in my beard only water. Nothing beats ur own natural oils in ur beard. But with product i switch up my beard shampoo every time. I use 2 different kinds of shampoos & the 2 best kinds U can use on a beard.(Trust me, & Try This) i been experimenting for yrs & this is what ive found. First off Take some good quality Vitamin C & Biotin & Collegen & keratin pills 💊 every day & get lots of good vitamins in ur system every day! Also take a (One A Day) for men vitamin.
    On my shampoo's i use the 2 best ive found in yrs of experience: U can find these on the shelf at Wally World.
    #1 (Renpure Originals): (Biotin & Collagen Thickening Shampoo)
    #2. I also use; (RenpureOriginals): (Coconut Cream Nourishing Shampoo). Both of these shampoos have Zero...Sulfates, Parabens, Dyes, Gluten, Phthalates & Propylene glycol which is ingredients in alot of shampoos that damage ur hair.
    Ok i use one of the two shampoos one each time i shower & then the next the next time i wash my beard. Then I pat dry my beard with a towel leaving some moisture from the shower. Then i add a small puddle of unscented beard oil or non allergenic baby oil in the palm of my hand. I rub my hands down good with oil & distribute it evenly in my beard & facial skin as you do. But i learned a long time ago to never use high heat on my beard. I use warm heat never high heat. It does just as good as high heat & it dont scorch my beard hair. Then after i dry my beard i add a small puddle of unscented beard oil. And my beard is long and straight & soft as a babys bottom. Ive had so many women that touch my heard say how do U get it that soft?
    But during the days im not washing my beard i also use a Coconut oil that comes in a jar like vaseline. The name of the coconut oil is: (Proclaim Professional Care):( Coconut oil Hair & scalp conditioner).
    Every one knows coconut oil is one of the best things U can put on your hair. I also have a beard comb i carry in my back pocket that is infused with coconut oil that's made into the plastic. So that anytime U are combing ur beard or hair its putting small amounts of coconut oil into the hair. The name of the comb is: (CRICKET CONDITIONING COMB #354021) ( Infused with coconut oil & Keratin). I bought mine from from Sallys Beauty Store. It looks or shaped like the traditional wooden beard comb like U have in this video. Except its plastic infused with coconut oil & keratin.
    If U dont have a
    Sallys Beauty Store around you, then U can order it from (Cricketco.com item # 354021) Coconut oil comb- conditioning comb.
    Try these methods & U will see a huge difference in your beard! 👍

    • @livebearded

      Hey brother! Typically the itch is due to the beard growth. By that I mean, as it grows it actually draws the oils away from your skin. Make sure you are keeping that replenished!
