I'm actually glad they let their be 2 different endings. It feels satisfying to know that not everything the villain does was for nothing, while also letting the good guy have it too
Technically there's even 3 endings if you count the original Liu Kang ending from the story before Aftermath was released

Shang Tsung’s betrayal was inevitable, and he even indirectly hints that out too. The only one who knew was Lord Liu Kang, which is why he spoke with Fujin before they were sent to the past. Everybody “dying” was intended by Liu Kang, so that he can ensure his possession of the crown.
@Enoch Tse It appears Liu Kang's ending seems to be canon, for Mortal Kombat 12, of course. And besides, he's a fire God who successfully defeated 3 remaining revenants (Jade, Kung Lao and Kitana), an elder Goddess who's extremely powerful (Cetrion) and a whole Titan who happens to be the Keeper Of Time (Kronika), all at once. So he shouldn't have any problem in defeating Shang Tsung, despite him wearing the crown. Note that Kronika also wore the crown whilst fighting Liu Kang.

To be honest, I disagree. Dark Raiden was one of those who always fucking up something due to his madness. Also too much dark/possessed versions of characters throughout whole MK history, it became cliche already. And btw, Dark Raiden lost his battle to Shao Kahn once.

Raddish Cow Liu basically erased Shang from existence. So with Shang "never” existing, means the Tournament was never corrupted; which mean GKL lives. Ending of MKX had us thinks Cassie was the "chosen one”, but now we’re back to the actual began.

I am content with the ending because Lui Kang grew as a character from being a rash hothead who couldn’t see the bigger picture in Mk9 to being a calculated, albeit sinister letting his friends die, strategist to save the timeline. He didn’t let emotions ruin his chance to save his friends since he can give them all better lives in a new timeline.
I think it’s safe to assume that Liu Kang’s ending is canon, by the way second!!!

When Raiden fused with Liu Kang, Liu Kang got all of Raiden's memories, and his visions of the future, and started to form his own "Let the Bad Guy win" plan, so he could wait for the opportune time to get the crown from Shang Tsung.

That ending with Liu Kang is awesome! Assuming it is Cannon since Shang's was just "big bad won" whereas Liu's was something is coming next and since I lost track of who is alive, dead, missing, etc., I have no idea what to expect from NRS. My guess would be Onaga's return but with some crazy twist.

Monrhou Maybe, but Netherrealm is pretty adamant on their stance of making Sindel evil. They probably did it because they didn't think that many people liked the character.

Draining Sindel and Shao Kahn must have been the most satisfying thing Shang Tsun has ever done
it's kinda disappointing that you had to see most good characters die or lost. but the thing is that both ending is well, great. And the thing with kung lao actually surprised me with the fact he act so humble and all i would like another dlc rebooting the ending.

LIU KANG my great hero and my example to follow. From childhood I admire LIU KANG the great dragon warrior of mk. Thanks to LIU KANG I learned to love martial arts, constant effort, responsibility, the value of strength and doing the right thing protecting others and not giving up and learning to overcome failures and defeats and become stronger to restart from scratch . Liu Kang will always be the best for me
