Reina being the behind the scenes villain was something I didn't expect at all. Guess we'll see what she's cooking up on Tekken 9... 10 years from now LMAO
To me, it was pretty obvious she has ulterior motives, considering she's one of the bastard children of Heihachi (which was also pretty obvious ever since her character trailer release) and wants to regain her father's glory. Hell, her inner monologues made it even more so. What I didn't expect was that she has the Devil Gene as well

@@ReviewersGuildArSR I think she wanted Kazuya or Jin to use their devil powers so she can absorb it like she did on the battlefield. Not sure how but she somehow figured something out that her father couldn’t.
While I would agree, they ruined the character in 6 when they basically made him a villain. This series seems to think people can just bounce from protagonist to villain at any point - that only works when the villain isn't that bad, if the villain genuinely has innocent blood on their hands then why are we going to care about them being a protagonist. It's stupid.

2:31:28 Seeing that moment in-game was amazing. It took me back to the days of when I played Tekken 3 for the first time. That swap from current Jin to Tekken 3 Jin with the Mishima style is just a great moment in the final battle. Takes me back man...
This is one of those games where you have to suspend disbelief to enjoy. Everybody speaks one of two languages, a bear is part of the roster, hell, a giant robot boxer has been a constant in this series. God, I love fighting games.
The mark is still on Jin's arm, so I'm guessing their devil powers are in suspended animation for the time being, but not completely eliminated. Good thing, too, given what we know now about Reine's surprise lineage and abilities.
I don't think it's a Lineage thing. My Theory is that Kazuya inadvertently gave her the blessing with his beam. Since he has Azazel powers he can be the new source of the gene to others.. though that just me.
We saw that the devil wasn't bad at all and plus the devil power isn't a curse for Jin anymore so.. Yeah That doesn't matter at all.. He'll put the powers in good use
Overall the story was fun and Exciting. And the Fighting mechanics is top level. Also the fact that Jin becomes a angel and kazuya becomes a demon might hint that the battle between the kazama clan (angels) vs the Hachijio clan (devils) might take place in the future tekken. The Mishimas will play major role as well but this time they will shield humanity from the clashes between good and evil. The leader of the kazamas (angels) might be jun or Asuka and the leader of the hachijio (devils) might be reina (if she isn't killed in tekken9) or someone else from the clan. I would love this to happen if Namco and harada decide to do it. It will be the greatest battle in tekken
Best parts off the top of my head: All the Jin x Xiaoyu parts. ALL OF IT! Alisa vs Jack-8. ROBOT FIGHT! Jin's whole anime arc. That last string of fights with Kazuya my gosh! Loving this new story mode format they're doing!
Anyone else remember back in the day when the King of Iron Fist Tournament was just that. And the last guy to beat was Heihachi because he was the owner of it? Yeah, me too. Good times.
Damn, even without the Devil Gene this confirms that Kazuya has just been evil all on his own. And that he was manipulating and abusing his Devil/Azazuel powers a tool, not the other way around.
You know what? I will be fine to watch a full-story movie because I still don't have an Xbox Series S or PS5 yet. Once I get a new series S, I will be looking forward to play tekken 8!

So the Dichotomy between Jin and Kazuya is that of, one is fighting for survival and desires Hope while the other fights for ultimate power, because he has lost all hope a long time ago. the story in Tekken 8 tried to depict a Jin's version of tekken saga much like Tekken 6 where he is absent for much of the story as it is the reactions of others to his actions that makes him a powerful character, that his presence is always felt but never seen. however i feel like Harada just doesn't understand Jin or feel him well enough to be able to create as great of a story for him as he did for Kazuya in tekken 7, in that Legendary final battle. here, we see Jin conflicted, constantly changing forms, from Human, to devil, to Angel and to human again, he even changes his fighting style and uses mishima as well as kazama style. he is a conflicted character that is meant to bring it all together at the end. however what does Not make him as compelling of a character as Kazuya (aside from a story that was too focused on irrelevant secondary characters), is that he never accomplishes his goal of digging deep, but rather each time, he is helped by others to pull through, whether its channeling his mother's angelic power, channeling his responsibility to those who have shown him unconditional love and of course being directly helped by others and subsequently being protected by secondary characters that are irrelevant to his story and give him unearned power and protection. in contrast, in tekken 7, Kazuya had everything going against him, Heihachi controlled the much more powerful Mishima Zaibatsu corporation and managed to setup a trap for Kazuya to be shown as a devil and lose the public opinion, therefore angering him even further and giving heihachi that much needed sense of being righteous, now that others would see kazuya as a devil and recoil at his horrifying visage just like he convinced himself that he did. with all of that going against Kazuya, he managed to pull through, fight after fight, losing his demonic power (momentarily) and even then fighting heihachi to a standstill, and without any outside assistance, on his own, he managed to pull through in the truest form known to any person: to dig so deep inside that you would find the will to simply win, to seize the justice you want for yourself rather than it being handed to you. the fact that Jin managed to cleanse the Evil in kazuya, was surprising, but much more surprising was the fact that he could turn into an angel and recreate himself from the inside. however, in this pursuit he barely even sought any help from his mother who was supposed to be the centerpiece of this Dichotomy, of this fight between Good and Evil. his angelic form was yet another thing that he simply earned rather undeservedly and without much pain and suffering or sacrifice. however, simply going through his history, you can see that this was always Jin Kazama. he was never shown the cold hatred that kazuya received from his father since childhood; in different instances of his life he was aided by his mother, by heihachi, by Lars and by many others who have given him guidance and aid without seeking much in return. and his superior demonic powers have always given him an easy way out of all circumstances without much effort. this in turn had turned him into a weak willed person ! this is quite apparent in the way he fights without his demonic powers, he is not used to not having an easy way out. and when Kazuya gives him the simple cold truth that: "a fight is about who's left standing, and nothing else", in response he once again is aided by his aspirations, by people who have given him much (undeserved) love along the way, and then his truth comes out: "a fight is about survival", and follows up by saying: "those feelings gave me the courage to survive". interestingly enough, Kazuya's cold character outright rejects his weakness by calling it "preposterous". this i believe is the best parenting we have ever seen in this entire saga. think back to the beginning, this fight is not a grudge match, unlike the fight between Kazuya and Heihachi, Jin is in no direct danger of death by Kazuya, in fact Kazuya isn't even looking for him but rather gets interrupted by him and forced into a fight he did not want to participate in. in this entire story, Jin was always the initiator, constantly judging his father as evil and underserving of life. in a way, he is alot like heihachi, in that he is the one hunting kazuya not the other way around and wanting to take his right to live away from him simply because of his nature before giving him a chance. He is the one constantly judging his father, rather than having a father that judges him unworthy of life, the way heihachi did with kazuya. through this illogical mindset, he is blinded to the legitimate motives and aspirations of his father, and so he is blinded to Kazuya's resolve to live, as the right to live was once taken from him. this affected jin in a major way at the end, where he had lost the final fight with kazuya in human form, but was aided once again at the final hour, by the undeserved love that he received by many who saw him as a hero no matter what he had done, a love that Kazuya had never been given or even sought out, as his character is one of Inner Resolve Not of Blind Heroism. and This, is at the very heart of the story, the defining contrast between the two characters. Deep down Kazuya seeks Justice, because the world had never given it to him, therefore a good character despite his demonic visage, whereas deep down, Jin seeks Unearned Favor, because the world had always given it to him unconditionally, therefore an evil character (Driven forward by undeserved love), despite his angelic visage ! And That, is why i've said Kazuya has given Jin the best piece of Parenting that any character had given to another in this Saga, in the beginning Jin says Kazuya's Very existence brings turmoil to the world, and kazuya simply responds with "what a bunch of bull", and in the end, Jin says a fight is about survival and the love others have given him will in turn give him the will to survive, and once again Kazuya responds quite similarly, simply saying "preposterous". because Kazuya, throughout his very sad and Tragic life (and surviving it against all odds), has learned the greatest lesson of all, and he has parted his wisdom with Jin whether he understood it or not. it is the hardest lesson to learn, but the simplest of all: Justice is Seized, not Given !
100% and the best part is, that Jun Kazama is the only person in the world that understand this about Kazuya, hence why she was to stand by his side, to save him from his pain/loneliness that he was force to suffer due to his upbringing by Heihachi, cause she genuine loves him, for she sees him, not as a monster but as a broken man that needs healing.

While I would agree, they ruined the character in 6 when they basically made him a villain. This series seems to think people can just bounce from protagonist to villain at any point - that only works when the villain isn't that bad, if the villain genuinely has innocent blood on their hands then why are we going to care about them being a protagonist. I just beat the story mode on hard and it was the most challenging frustrating exciting mind blowing thing ever I give it an A+++
It was difficult but I did not know that there's a bad ending if you let kazuya win.
Did anyone notice that Jin looked like the Asura's Wrath protoganist in his Angel form. 😅
