Well really, it was Bob Morton who did that.
Ole Dickie boy was none too pleased because he knew Robocop would be a problem, which is why he made sure Directive 4 was in place.

@@AudraBurgess Which was ok’d by “the old man.” In the first movie, he’s a decent character. So he would’ve believed Robocop was a good idea. But the old man’s vision was Delta City and he needed crime to go down for it to work.
Of course, in R2, they turned the old man into a stereotypical evil CEO businessman and in 3, Johnson becomes even worse even though he was a good character in the previous two movies.
As bad as the old man was, it seems that OCP becomes exponentially more corrupt after he is gone.

Now that's what i call a Badass ending for RoboCop. The Prime Directives Foundation merged with the entire Special Forces/Outerworld Investigation Agency, including Stryker united in one effort.

Damn, Peter Weller is such a compelling voice actor; he still has the same hypnotizing voice after all these decades. He really should get into doing more of it, along with audiobooks and podcasts.
I love how he maintains robocops semi-monotone but still expresses so much through subtle inflections.

In it he was stated to be a former cop who defected to Black Dragon after being persuaded by Kano for money which is literally the opposite of what was actually happened in MK9 where he was a former Black Dragon who quitted to become a better person by joining police force which is the common believe that we know. To support this claim even further Cassie said this when she saw his revenant in chapter 1 "Is that one of Kano's goons?" like what the hell Cassie! that guy was in the same side as your parents were in MK9 and died heroic death just like other Sindel's victims and he also had ended his association with Kano. This is a proof that the stupid writers had no idea what to do with Kabal and either know nothing about the lore or just don't give a shit about it.
You gotta like how robocop having all that power still does the right thing
because he hasn't lost that part of him that was Alex Murphy, cop. That kept him grounded and humble, even with Kronika's power coming over him. And Jax, Sonya, Striker and Kabal respected him for it.
That's how you know there's a good person underneath all that armor.
If you want to test a man's character, give him power.

I love that they actually put Cop Kabal as one of the guys helping Robocop at the end. Such a nice detail.
As I recall the movies (haven't watched in awhile), it always felt like the whole situation with OCP was more morally ambiguous. The CEO was a decent person, Dick Jones was a horrible piece of crap, Bob Morton did a good thing by making Robocop, but he did it mainly just to show up Dick Jones's project. And the ethics and programming of Robocop were also partially suspect. Great stuff.
Thats normally how companies get bad.
CEOs act too nice to people, and form incentives the wrong way.
Eventually the sociopaths exploit the kindness, takeover the company, and run it to utter shit.

Every succesfull company founded in the past 50 years has had competent CEOs that were reasonable over treating employees.
Eventually, the CEOs pull out and sell the company.

Eespecially with public companies, the board usually consists of morons or sociopaths, that want infinite short term profits, and run the company to the ground in that manner by selecting the CEO to do it.

So in this ending, Robocop basically became Dredd. What makes it even funnier is that the design of Robocop is based off the aesthetic of Judge Dredd from the 2000 AD comics in 1977

At first I found it weird how Robocop was kinda speaking with more nuance than I would normally expect, but the way they contextualized it as his robotic limitations being erased definitely sold me on it. Also, that outfit in the end looks fuckin' dope.

I mean, Murphy at this point has more humanity than Kronika and the entire company of OCP put together.
I think the main point of Robocop is him accepting that in whatever body he's in, he's still Murphy and still human. He doesn't need his own skin back to prove it.

Great ending. Instead of altering the timeline of him not becoming a Robocop, he just used the hourglass to seek out the truth about OCP and then continue on from what he learned. Not the best ending since I’ve seen others reject the hourglass but definitely better from others who used it to reshape history.

Just having Stryker and unburned Kabal here together again makes this the best ending in the game and entire series for me. I'm dead serious. Love those two.

@ninjastah Basically this iteration of him follows the continuity up to RoboCop 3. The next RoboCop movie that was announced in 2019 is supposed to be a sequel reboot that only follows the continuity of the first film and disregards all the other for movies. Honestly, I look forward to it. lol

Brilliant ending love how they got Peter Weller to come back and do the voice... but anyone else worried about that last line; "Welcome to the future of law enforcement"... makes me think Robocop's gonna become a tyrant... that'll prosecute a jaywalker the same way he'll prosecute a Unrepentant Sadist Serial Killer.... with bullet to the head.
Robocop is many things, but a Tyrant? No. His humanity (his strongest trait) above all else keeps him grouned.

Duty over personal interests, that's Alex Murphy for you.
Something might inevitably happen that would lead to his death. He was lucky to survive being shot in the head by Clarence Boddicker. Bob Morton had the idea to rebuild Alex Murphy as Robocop to clean up crime in Old Detroit. Needless to say the idea worked, but what OCP didn't realize is they had a ticking time bomb on their hands. If Robocop ever broke free of his programming and saw the full extent of the corruption at OCP, it'd be a total disaster. While it is true Robocop COULD have rewritten everything to be human again, but without the circumstances that lead to his transformation, he might not have been able to do what he did. He decided to remain Robocop but put the effort into bringing down a corrupt corporation that had privatized a city's police department. Calling in help from Sonya, Jax, Stryker, and Kabal was a nice touch for this ending. Really is Robocop true to form.
