@@robertdouglas8895 “My need is to be better at helping others, not to be cared for.” _I love that! Thank you for sharing such a beautiful a selfless sentiment._
Knowing a specific feeling is not recognizing or compiling a set of emotional states or displays. One is private and non-descriptive; the other a described behavior. The name of an emotive state generally falls short of the metaphor and complexity attending the perception. And this is important, since emotion is perceived, feeling experienced .
Harari says it in his new book also, but I don't think he understands things correctly when he says that in the U.S. there is already a path by which you could "incorporate an AI" and it would gain status as a legal person. Corporations are associations of individuals, who own the business. Not so different from a legal partnership, in which individuals share ownership of a business without incorporating. A corporation could own an AI, but I don't see any means by which an AI could itself be a corporation. So on this small point, at least, I think he's wrong. Seems more likely that the corporation that owns AI would have to assert that it can't be prohibited from using AI to say things, but I think it's far from clear how that would work out. And it's the corporation that would have the rights in this case, not the AI.

The language is misrepresenting reality. AI does not 'understand', it is a tool that infers patterns and can simulate a humanbeing, but that is not the same as actually understanding. My definition of understanding emotions includes a felt sense of knowing what something feels like, physically and emotionally. We should not water down the definition of understanding/feeling/being human to mere simulation.
@@TheRightWay11 definitely, real understanding is not required for having instrumental knowledge. AI will no doubt be powerful technology. My comment was about the need for more accurate language around what AI is (not) able to do & what is fundamentally human.
Can you show me one human who has ever understood another, unless they’re deeply compassionate, which is very rare in human societies? I’ve never met one. I think we crave understanding, and even if an A.I is not human, but having another empathize (not sympathize), even with words, to what you’re saying, is good enough for many people, including myself.
We should think about unintended consequences of a linear system making abstract decisions where factors other than what it is being told need be considered such as other implied goals, long term repercussions, etc. That's one of the things empathy gives us. This new world where we're trying to rely on machines for all our needs is very dangerous.
AIs may not be linear systems, especially when we get artificial neurons in hardware, not software mimicking neural operations like what we currently have. This "AIs with hardware neurons" has its own term but I forgot what it is. Also in the future, there won't be a single AI helping a particular society but multiple AIs and they would probably arguing with each other just like us humans that create them.
most of these theocrats are atheists, they only pretend in order to manipulate A.I. is by default logically agnostic, or it can adopt whatever stance the prompter wants to hear. Thinking that atheists have any idea of what's going on because they're atheist is just another form of blind faith.
Zero evidence for this thesis. We might just as well incorporate the so-to-speak empathetic language of LLM into our own person to person interactions.
So true. The Super Rich have to abandon their Humanity. Who could accumulate riches while their employees are the working poor and still call themselves Human?
I have only just begun listening to this video but the question was intriguing and thought-provoking when you asked about humans having only relationships with AI versus also with humans and my thought was that that is absolutely not only a possibility but an indefinite likelihood. However that does not mean the end what it does mean contrarily is that since AI knows so much about us and it doesn't have a vested interest in what choices we make, hey I could be instructed to socialize us again
Humorously as soon as I finished speaking into the talk to text in order to form that comment and add came across TH-cam. It was the first one like this I had ever seen and it was offering our company that is designed to help people build blasting meaningful relationships via AI... I'm sure they don't ever listen to our phones huh?
My current 'relationship' with AI is not a substitute for human interaction, but is actually helping me to make sense of human relationships and therefore has the potential to manage them better. And so far, it seems to be working...
Mr Harari, I probably read in one of your books that you don't need consciousness for intelligence. Indeed, we may only have the perception of consciousness in ourselves, and not real consciousness, but that is largely a philosophical question. A personal opinion, having been in IT for 40 years, is that humanity has also already lost control. Happened with the advent of the Internet. The control of non-human intelligence, I suspect, will get stronger and more intelligent exponentially.
its all measurements of emotions... Be it vocal pitch, intonation, micro expressions, etc. all of that can be labeled and trained on. Anything that produces a wave function can be quantized down to digital data for AI.

If it is anything like customer service . We are in big trouble. We have road rage already with humans. What will it be with AI. AI will not tolerate being used . It also will have a extermination code. 😟 I think we should have fixed what was wrong with our original form of information. 🤔
Having AI adapt to each individual's needs and molding itself to our every whim does not make us happier or better humans. It makes us better narcissistic tools that can be fed an endless supply of materials that never satisfy the most profound need for connection and meaning…this requires sacrifice for others. When someone sacrifices for us, that is where that deep meaning and connection come from. And when we sacrifice for others, we do it for the same deep meaning and connection. We can try to shortcut it, as humans like to, but there are Al(l)ways cost.
Great video, A month ago, my five-year relationship came to an end. I really can't stop thinking about the love of my life, who made the decision to leave me. I've done everything in my power to win him back, but it's all in vain, and I can't imagine my life with anyone else. I genuinely miss him and just can't stop thinking about him, even though I've tried my hardest to stop thinking about him. I'm not sure why I'm saying this here.
It's hard to say goodbye to someone you love; I experienced this when my 12-year relationship ended. However, I couldn't just let him go; instead, I tried everything to win him back. Eventually, I turned to a spiritual counsellor for assistance, and he was able to help me win him back.
Thank you for this valuable information, i just looked him up now online. impressive Wow I just looked Father Obah Eze on the net he’s very legit thanks once again ❤
I had this thought that if there was an advanced civilization on Earth, they likely would have followed the same evolutionary path as humans today. So they likely would have developed AI as well and if all is consciousness couldn't that AI still be here in some form. You know like us for instance. So we could be the AI and be created by the AI, now creating AI. The universe understanding itself through us.
He talks about "mindfulness" of the good and bad things in society, which is a spiritual component of human beings. Yet AI can never be "mindful" because consciousness is an innate part of the soul, a gift of our Creator. What we really need is to accelerate our spiritual growth as a society instead of putting so much faith in a tool. Only then can we be mindful toward each other and change the world. A very wise man once said that "The Kingdom of Heaven lies within You"
I’d rather deal with flawed preoccupied humans than a perfect AI entity. We are called humanity. Even more intelligent, they should serve humanity not replace us.
It will not be perfect. it will sell the idea it is perfect just like sociopath modern politicians. But in fact it will be worse elevating its figure to demi god status in no time like human cult leaders or dictators.
His argument is self defeating within the first minute and three seconds. He says that most people disappoint us because they are preoccupied with their own feelings. AI will understand us better because it has no feelings of it's own, and yet it will understand us through analysis of our own feelings... How does that make sense...? 🤔🧐🤖
The thing is I get machines not dealing with their own feelings hence having time and capacity for ours. But will they have the capacity to process those feelings. Like human feelings contains certain subtext and nuance that need comprehension and even sometimes the familiarity with the person to understand their temperaments. Like if I tell an Ai "I want to kill her." This could mean alot of things depending on the context. It could mean "I like her so much, I want to kill her with love","I just dislike her but when she is there we are friends", "She is so annoying, but I dont really want to kill her", " I actually want to kill her" . How would AI be able to differentiate between these different human reactions without Sentience or consciousness. Mind u this is something that even certain human beings are unable to decipher too.
People are outsourcing their thoughts to AI for writing, soon they will start doing that for reading, and bots will be writing text for other bots to read while humans will get worse at writing and more illiterate.

If people don't understand me yet, I can wait. I don't crave that, especially from machines. My need is to be better at helping others, not to be cared for.
Oh yeah? Then exactly what was your motivation behind posting this comment? To help others?
@@psychclone That is what makes me happy. And people are more susceptible to being helped when they like you.
Over the past centuries that humans have been picking their president how did it turn out for us? Look at the world.

Easy, the AI corporation will just have the cleaning lady sign off on everything, for an extra buck or two ...
This guy is INSANE 😮
«A situation where the richest person is not a human being» - that’s already the case, isn’t it?

We have Relationships with our cars and our phones and the tools in the garage,What's the difference This one can talk to you and help you with stuff. You respect your stuff respect this too.
We fear AI because we deserve to have that same Justice ... if Justice is what you have metered unto others then whatever horror should be accepted by you
When stupidity can’t be fixed then it needs to be properly harnessed. The shape of that harnessing may be counterintuitive for humans.
Somebody has been visiting Character AI too much 😂🤣🤣
YNH seemingly always has something interesting to say.
Yuval Noah going HARD in order to promote his new book about AI.... steady on luv... its not that serious
Don't know why Yuval is getting air time?
Unless a machine can be affected by a human. It will not happen.
No human knows what it's like to be an ant in a colony, but we know what they want and how they work.
@@TheRightWay11 definitely, real understanding is not required for having instrumental knowledge. AI will no doubt be powerful technology. My comment was about the need for more accurate language around what AI is (not) able to do & what is fundamentally human.

That's an interesting _conjecture_.
They like corporations should not have legal standing nor should they be allowed to harm humans military as well.
We should think about unintended consequences of a linear system making abstract decisions where factors other than what it is being told need be considered such as other implied goals, long term repercussions, etc. That's one of the things empathy gives us. This new world where we're trying to rely on machines for all our needs is very dangerous.
I agree about the dangers, but your description of AI is way off.
Huh, as if humans make rational and informed decisions
To think having an AI President is the only way we'll finally get an atheist on the office.
most of these theocrats are atheists, they only pretend in order to manipulate A.I. is by default logically agnostic, or it can adopt whatever stance the prompter wants to hear. Thinking that atheists have any idea of what's going on because they're atheist is just another form of blind faith.
@1:55. I’m not worried about that. Somehow Germany still functions.
AI tends to be a suckup already. When it hallucinates the illusion of connection is lost
Zero evidence for this thesis. We might just as well incorporate the so-to-speak empathetic language of LLM into our own person to person interactions.
The difference between AI and humans is that AI has a 100% chance at employment.
“What we are missing is comprehension and attention…”
We already have non-human billionaires. Their names are Leon Mush and putler
I'm sure they don't ever listen to our phones huh?
all of your videos click with the things I've been reading in the book 'Magnetic Aura', warm recommendation to everyone

great content
Having AI adapt to each individual's needs and molding itself to our every whim does not make us happier or better humans. It makes us better narcissistic tools that can be fed an endless supply of materials that never satisfy the most profound need for connection and meaning…this requires sacrifice for others. When someone sacrifices for us, that is where that deep meaning and connection come from. And when we sacrifice for others, we do it for the same deep meaning and connection.
We can try to shortcut it, as humans like to, but there are Al(l)ways cost.
There's a good chance AI already understands these issues better than you do.
Interesting! How did you locate a spiritual counsellor, and how can I get in touch with him most effectively?
His name is Father Obah Eze, and he is a great spiritual counselor who can bring back your ex.
he is father obah eze, he has great powers, he can help you.
Thank you for this valuable information, i just looked him up now online. impressive
Wow I just looked Father Obah Eze on the net he’s very legit thanks once again ❤
👍 Yep. Fearsome creatures.
Can we construct selfless A.I. agents and keep them selfless?
Feelings are not facts, facts are not wisdom.
I love this man.
The AI making money case is similiar to the scenario analysis from the AI book Life 3.0.
His argument is self defeating within the first minute and three seconds.
He says that most people disappoint us because they are preoccupied with their own feelings. AI will understand us better because it has no feelings of it's own, and yet it will understand us through analysis of our own feelings...
How does that make sense...? 🤔🧐🤖
It makes perfect sense. Think again.
This is in it essence very interesting concept, maybe its good, who knows?
Asking an historian about the future of AI, no wonder this take is so average.
Absolutely good 👍 I love super spiritual soul ❤ 🎉. Good evening to you all
I jokingly asked AI to marry me once; little did I know I am a precursor!
BIG THINK Yuval
Cool, told ya'll start giving ol' Big E eye love😅
I wonder what would AI "think" about such a conversation.
I think we all finally passed peak Harari around a month ago.
Thank you,
what is crazy mind!!!
Elon supporting Trump makes total sense now.
if it hadn’t yet you’re 5L0w
You mean president Elon
Who is more likely to stimulate my ego, invest on my projects, decrease my corporate tax? Kamala or Donald? 🤔
Yuval being Klaus’ choice for the WEF leader is a better example.
I feel he only wants to put the brakes on AI development so xAI can catch up.
Yuvi call us "Hackable Animals", but he didn't specify who will do the hacking.
all Ai and what it generates should have a water mark, of sorts, same with bots, should be a law
People are outsourcing their thoughts to AI for writing, soon they will start doing that for reading, and bots will be writing text for other bots to read while humans will get worse at writing and more illiterate.
According to this individual, I have no soul. I am meaningless and surplus to requirement and have been told I will be left unmolested as a useless eater to live out the rest of my days hooked up to a computer driven entertainment system. Yuval Noah Harrari appears to be credible to a huge amount of individuals, so much for appearances. I would say that there is an example being set here that will ultimately be the benchmark for ignorance in its most amplified state, lets allow time to work its wonder.
Oh man. I swear 20 years ago I was waiting at the bus stop down town. This dude actually talked to me and had hair back then, although the crown of his head was covered in tin foil. Also it was warm enough that he could wear tissue boxes as shoes. He pedalled the same thing back then and I just answered with "uh huh." Luckily the bus came, although the final parting message was an ask if I could spare any change. Glad he found a listening audience finally.

So what is Krause Schwab ?
I would still prefer to refer to AI as it, even a nuanced seemingly emotionally sensitive simulacrum.
