General rule is all engine related faults must be fixed and clear before dpf will regenerate.

Modern diesels last 7/8years use glow plugs not in the same way as before , they are used in the diesel injection cycle during normal driving as injector control has evolved , any deteriation of injectors or cylinder sealing will have a huge effect on particulates , an aging DPF will suffer greatly as efficiency drops . yes you are very much correct with this video,
I worked in an MOT station for around 15 years and to be perfectly honest they used to take dpf problems on which i didn't agree with because it was a forced regeneration and 50% of the vehicles used to come back, i said one day why not send the customer to someone who will clean the dpf properly and he looked at me like im a di**head because it clearly about money, i think it's much better to send it to someone who knows what they doing and they have good knowledge. personally i'd say someone like you would do a much much better job, i'll admit you've educated me

Sounds similar to my old boss, so glad I moved on, work at a place now that actually cares about fixing the car and ironically we make alot more money and I get paid more because of that. There's alot of greedy people out there unfortunately
Hi Jimmy you nail it glow plugs do help with combustion even after start up and i had many that dont regen with even 2 glow plugs faulty, you provide a fantastic service.

Hi Jimmy thank you very much for another tutorial video. I appreciate that you have informed the JLM Dpf gun do not have enough pressure compare to the Launch Dpf gun has 5 times more pressure. I am very happy to know it so now I am sure I am going to order a Launch Dpf gun and fluids from Launch Tech. Everyday I enjoy and learned a lot from your videos.
You are soo lucky that you can do this anywhere. Here, in Germany, in the first 15 minutes, the police will come and you'll get a veerrryyy fat fine to pay. But, oversall, very good job. I've started to use also this method to clean dpf after I've seen your videos. Untill that moment, I was very scheptic regarding this method, but now it works.

Thanks Jimmy. I had thought that these inject diesel into the DPF via the exhaust side of the combustion cycle, the vaporiser was news to me.
I must say, the vaporiser reminds me strongly of the innards of a diesel heater.

@@ORileysAutos It's the old saying. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink! I find a lot of customers just want warning/service lights off & aren't interested in getting to the bottom of problems.

Those dpf cleaners we can buy and add it to the diesel tank do they actually work?? Now I don't mean for it to completely unblock a fully blocked dpf what I'm saying is will it help to keep it from blocking in the first place?

Its a monent when the vehicle can stop driving if glow plugs not changed. People ignore the knackered glow plugs and then the engine is both harder to start but also puts out more pollution because its not as effective at using the diesel to make a bang. So scan tool wont let the regen happen until they fixed. Then after so long as a bucket load of other readings are right too, then the regen should happen.
Could you please do a video explaining the inferred closed loop and open loop?

A problem i had with my mk7 transit is the vapourizer fuse popped.
Glow plug 4 had stopped working, so wasnt regenerating properly, we think the vapourizer filled with soot and overheated popping the fuse at some point.
Expensive stuff when it goes wrong.

Why so?
What is the difference between normal DPF regeneration and forced regeneration (for oil quality)?
Forced regenerations add extra fuel that gets pass they piston and contaminates the oil

I have a car with DPF and do mainly town driving - what do I need to do to keep the DPF happy? go for a cruise at 50 for a while every couple of weeks?
I'm not an expert but those who claim to be say it's about ten to twenty minutes (some say longer, 40 minutes) at 2000 rpm on the revs fairly regularly but it's not clear how often but I think your idea sounds probably a fair guesstimate.. Some say you don't need to actually move the car it's just the revs that count.. But others say it's safer to actually drive the car to avoid overheating of components

Dpf is pain, mine just came on now checked in was fine on idle just 8hpa at 3000 though its upto 180-200 says 5g of soot but dont know if thats good or bad. Luckily mines the psa 1.6hdi euro 5 so its fairly easy to take the dpf of because its spilts and only requires 2 clamps and the difference low pressure hose being removed.

insufficient MAIN BEARING SIZE, BIG END SIZE, CAM LOBE WIDTH and SINGLE ROW TIMING CHAIN will all WEAR in an engine where EXHAUST IS RESTRICTED and soot contaminates oil = DESIGNED TO FAIL.
To clean a DPF without the car / van having any fault codes would I be able to clean it with the launch cleaning kit without using a diagnostic device ?
I have same problem on tourneo custom and lots smoke coming out Taken into ford second time said they repaired it and yet it doing same van under warranty had to wait on part from Germany and had van back 2 weeks and problem persists the smoke coming out is alarming. Could you tell me where the smoke is coming from. You had revved van andsmoke came out over the top of enginelike mine. This is ford main dealer and van has to go into repair third time. What causes it to clog upall the time and how is the smoke escaping over engine.
I have a ford mondeo, the vaporiser (5th injector) is under the car near the dpf.. if its squirting the fuel down there. Do I still have to change my oil?.

I’ve done the double flush & lowered the Differential Pressure from 4.5kPa down to 2.3kPa at idle, & at 3,000 Rev’s it went down to 12.0kPa at idle, so still high but I’m unable to give it a final good run as I’ve no MOT on it.
So what’s the best way forward now? I’m guessing just reset the soot percentage & tell it it’s got a new DPF Then do a static Regen? it’s still also in limp mode.
Book an MOT that's a drive away and take it there. No law says how far you can travel to a MOT centre.

I tried to do a forced regeneration on my 2011 Renault Kangoo today. It failed and I got the message "Regeneration failure: The relative pressure inside the PDF is too low" But I also saw a code DF997 " Control unit heating element connections, signal incoherence."

Blocked cooler does have a bad effect on DPF filter. Fix it.

I had a force regen on my cat thought it was a turbo runaway at first .is that possible it was the gen loads of smoke came out the back revs was full then it died down seems fine now but not sure
Honestly, that gets on my nerves that when people offer a regen and not even clean it, then the customer then has to find someone to do it properly and the amount of damaged dpf's I've seen I just stop going if they've said they've had a forced regen done there's loads of people on fb market place with cheap tools offering silly services I just want to message them all haha
Ive got a Renault Captur 1.5 DCI that I’m trying to sort out 2018 done 24000 miles only fault is df1020 engine oil dilution no other codes car is healthy DPF differential is between 3 mb on idle to 28 mb under load all pipes sensors checked but still fails regen ?
The only other thing I have noticed is the coolant and oil temp never goes over 78c under load could it be a thermostat issue not allowing the engine to get up to correct operating temperature
This first happened during the recent -5c weather any thoughts appreciated 👍🏻
Just change the oil and reset oil dilution calculation. If temperature doesn't reach 90 it may need new thermostat

@@ORileysAutos I wasn’t it just keep coming on for no reason, my only explanation for the oil dilution warning keep re appearing is because it’s trying to regen while driving but failing the only thing I can think is its not getting warm enough, car is a proper one owner full history motor its driving me bonkers 😜

My ford ecosport 2021 diesel static regeneration failed at 85-90% most of the time. I have heard from someone that to make the regeneration successful, the soot % should be at 20%. My car soot % is at 59%.
What should I do? There is no fault code on DTC except DPF soot accumulation which I cleared earlier and then start regeneration.
Any advice or suggestions ?

Jimmy when you where using wynns dpf cleaner did u add half water or was it just neat?
Launch fluid is concentrated so 1L can be mixed.
Wynns is already watered down witch is why you get a larger volume

These days still easy to get rid of the AdBlue. Ask your local Indy to remove it. But in fact - here we are solving the DPF issues. Different thing. Learn, read, think. Peace.❤
My 2017 67 Captur 1.5 doesn’t use adblue!
No theses probably don’t have add blue just diesel exhaust fluid instead. Changed at about 100k or so. Diesel exhaust fluid and add blue are two different systems. One doses into fuel tank automatically and the other directly into the exhaust system. If the car is 2017 onwards it will have one of these in the uk that is.
I also have a problem with the dpf filter in the sense that due to the low temperature outside the filter it does not reach a temperature higher than 250 degrees and regeneration cannot be done, I did forced regeneration while driving with the carista and in vain that the ash still does not fall from the deposited filter at this moment I have 27 grams of deposited ash, what can I do in this case?I want to mention that no car error code appears on the tester
Depends on what vehicle or engine you're talking about. There are different ways to heat up the filter, and also many other dependencies. Guess this is a Ford with the low pressure aditive injector/vapo?

Why would you need an oil change with forced regen?
Because gas gets past the pistons and goes into the oil because of pressure during regen.

4 months ago, i did forced regen on my ecodiesel ram 2017 using scanner. Then 3 weeks ago, engine light popped again and i went to do the forced regen, but then it didn't allow. it said i have to fix the code -P0545-00. I didnt work on it right away. so yesterday, while returning home from work, my engine made a tac tac sound and shut off completely. do u think my engine is blown off?
You did not change the oil my man, after forced regen as required. It's on you. Dropped the ball.

Motor Mechanic of 43 years here. Easy way to solve diesel DPF problems is to not buy a diesel .They are false economy and more pollutant than petrol vehicles. People who buy them for fuel efficiency do not realise that they are spending way more money on servicing and repairs (especially repairs). When petrol vehicles are no longer available I will walk rather than purchase a diesel. Just my two bobs worth. Then again after 43 years in the business, what would I know?

If it has glow pugs they should work. Manufacturers dont fit them for fun they are part of the combustion and should work.

Does the dpf cause low torque on first gear? Feels like there is a blockage somewhere
Cheapest option to try would be change the air filter and see if fresh air helps. The older the air filter the more clogged it is reducing air intake and overall power.

If you are going to drive a diesel engine with a dpf in it, you need to take it a run above 40mph for 15mins once a week to clean it out. So if you take short trips all the time its going to be expensive getting the dpf fixed, its part of owning the vehicle.

If the soot content is high and all the codes are fixed will the van eventually clean its self ?

@@ORileysAutos we had the dpf cleaned, car still in limp mode, will not regen. MB wants $800 just to take it out of limp mode. Any suggestions? Recall warranty should cover all of this but they refuse to acknowledge it. Just frustrated!
