    It is worth at least $500k. This bracelet is still in production and this one is one of the originals. Verdura is still in business. Either they or Chanel Inc would pay big money to have this in their archives.

      Well it is like that Patek Philippe pocket watch that is 1 of 1 and it sold for over $1.5 million and is in their museum now. It was appraised at $250,000 and just blew right past the estimated price.

    I wish the back of the bracelet and the clasp could’ve been shown. Her vintage pieces are, in fact, very rare, but I still look around when I’m out at estate sales, yard sales, antique stores, online, etc… “Hope springs eternal in the human breast.” Right? It was amazing to see this clip. Thank you!

      Appraisers in general tend toward conservative estimates. Better a client be pleasantly surprised than bitterly disappointed.

      @@Bulucanagria the expert lady did mention that the one that was nowhere near as good was estimated between 30-35K (iirc) and sold for a hundred grand so if she followed similar logic could be a half a million!

    I would never sell it but someday pass it on along with the history. I love watching Helen Hayes movies and to know that she is in your family is wonderful.

    The 'jardin' in the cabochons screamed emerald to me. The sugar loaf amethyst also indicated a genuine stone. What a treasure.

    Story time.
    Years ago I heard a story about when they met at a gala. Young Charlie was a lowly vaudeville performer or something and she was already a big star.
    He introduced himself and asked her to hold out her palm, into which he placed a handful of peanuts.
    "I wish these were emeralds." He told her.
    Years passed, and it was on one of their big anniversaries (I don't recall which), he took her out to dinner and asked her once again to hold out her palm, into which he placed a pile of emeralds.
    "I wish these were peanuts!"
    Hands down the most romantic story I've ever heard!

      Thank you. Great story and fits so well with this piece. There was also something very special happening as the appraisal was delivered and the excitement built. Then combined with the owners heartfelt reaction and pride, like your story it was all about love and not the monetary value.

      She did talk about it quickly but it was a friend who thought they were fake and then a different friend she showed a picture of it to who said they thought the stones were real and they'd give $1,000. Good thing she didn't sell it that's for sure.

    There is a picture of Coco Chanel on the internet. In it she is wearing a piece that looks similar to this one. The picture is black and white and a bit fuzzy, but the piece looks very similar.
