Not too much..? Ok buy me one then. Also it's stunning in the craftmanship, but the quality of the diamonds esp of the center or big diamond, the color is horrible and the clarity is bad.
I love it but at the same time, not jealous but what snobs lol. I agree about the craftmanship mostly about the platinum chain and setting, tho the center diamond is horrible color and bad clarity :/
..REALLY??? Show show little you know. Might want to check out a couple companies like Bulgari, Avianne, and Cartier... My guess is that you mean (only know of) common "jewelry stores" like Jarred, Kay, and Zales which would never sell anything like a quality diamond necklace let alone even solid gold necklaces/chains over 10kt.
If you went to go buy an equivalent bracelet at a retail boutique, it would likely be double the price quoted. Just a 5 carat diamond of that quality would be 70 to 90 thousand dollars alone.
I bet someone would pay over $200,000 dollars for it at auction. I think it will appreciate over time. It should be insured for way more than $90,000. I think jewelry from this time period will continue to be sought after.
It depends. Old jewelry doesn't mean valuable. Younger people want sparkle and modern technology when it comes to facets. If someone really wants it then they will pay for it.
This is absolutely false. All diamonds are millions of years old, so the fact that someone put it in a piece of jewelry in 1850 doesn't really make it historic. Diamonds DEPRECIATE, they don't appreciate.
@@benc7152 You don't see estate jewelry depreciate. A 5 carat ring same mine, same cut and color, same era will fetch $25,000 plus. 60 is a conservative estimate. I would surely drop 100,000 for it.

Good question. Platinum coins and billion sell for between 40 to 45% less than gold. Gold isn't as rare as Platinum or atleast that's people's opinion.
As an apprentice jeweller, i think i can give a reasonable answer, platinum can be a great metal to work with but also very annoying at the same time. Great since it will not react at all under heat of a torch, so anything you have prepolished in a tight area won't oxidise but you are also working with much higher temperatures to solder it together and melt it(you need eye protection as it is too bright) but the single biggest reason is platinum is a massive pain to get a mirror polish compared to gold, the finishing and polishing stage of making a platinum piece of jewellery can easily take twice as long as a yellow gold piece if not longer on a complex piece, you are also sanding the platinum to a much higher grit than gold too. Sorry for long reply.
Also a jeweler just not an apprentice and I would disagree platinum work is a lot faster than gold but that isn’t the reason for the price difference the same item with exact same dementions in platinum will be significantly heavier than its gold counterpart so even though gold is more expensive per ounce it take more platinum to make the piece making it more expensive
@@Yaoi155 I'm not a jeweler but platinum is only 10% more dense than gold. The real reason is that usually platinum jewellery is 90-95% pure while gold is 60-75% pure.
