Do you think tightening those will help in most cases? This guy was unable to get the throttle to hold position which was a deal breaker for him and myself as well. th-cam.com/video/l2x_D7y-n50/w-d-xo.html
I was concerned at first that the throttle couldn't hold its forward position, but that concern went away after tightening the damper as far as it will go. I've never had a stick with dry clutch dampers before, so my incorrect assumption was that this was expected behavior - needing to max out the damper for the throttle to hold its position. Now that I know completely tightening down the damper is actually unusual, I absolutely should have highlighted this in my review. Thank you for bringing this up.
@@Tuuvas Yeah I tightened the dampers as far as they could go when I first received the sticks. Perhaps this problem was specific to the one I had received. Unfortunately, it kinda ruined my experience with the sticks.
@@radicalturkey I personally haven't seen any major wearing that would be of any concern. They'll hold up for plenty of years. The damper issue on mine might just be specific to the ones I got, but they're present on both.

@@miquelcristinowell so far my only complaint is that I haven't gotten them yet. Went to the WinWing store and pre-ordered them. Still waiting for the email saying they have them in stock.
@@miquelcristino Well I just got the Ursa Minor Stick (not the Space one) and I'm blown away by the build quality over my X-56. I liked my X-56, but this is amazing, feels solid in and responsive. No need for a deadzone in my curves at this point. Really happy with this purchase.
The OH6-A community module is the acid test of throttle (/collective) control with the 30° throw...! Great overview Tuuvas, thanks (from someone who got back into DCS thanks to your controller guides, and now rocks HOTAS and an empty wallet😂)
@@ZaphodTube Then go with the VKB STECS Mini. Not as expensive as Virpil and with some less buttons, but still a premium throttle. Wouldn´t call WW premium anymore. More like advertised as premium, but nowhere close to Virpil, RS, or VKB (Even the entry lvl VKB stuff).
I bought the URSA minor after your last video, got a desk mount as great way to save room on my desk with the 1 stick rather than a throttle too and also its really light too which is handy my x56 was always a pain to move each time , my work desk is beside my gaming pc which means I have to dismantle it each time. I would have def been tempted with this if I had the room. its not that annoying to set up over the controller. Are you just using TOBII for hand gestures or you in VR?
No, Tobii would strictly be for eye/face tracking and only work with the camera. For hand tracking, I'm using my Meta Quest Pro's built in hand tracking.
Very enjoyable review - as always. Looks like an interesting alternative, but not my cup of tea. Sticking to my TWCS Throttle still. I am eagerly waiting for the next upcoming Virpil throttle (VMAX Prime).
i'm looking at those to replace my 4yo T16k hotas, i think it's gonna do the job, my main issue with T16k is it's weakness and a flat throttle axis i think 30° gonna be ok for space flight, cheers and thx for the test
I've ordered this and the joystick for elite dangerous. While I think greater throw would be nice the ability to yaw as well as ascend and descend with left and right and the up and down twist makes overall the hosas superior than hotas for space games. Plus it will annoy my wife I bought more obvious and undeeded "gaming junk" so that's another plus.
i've been looking around the internet and i've heard that the support for the sticks is terrible. so it's going to be a struggle to get something replaced if something is broken
There aren't a lot of options for throttles for left handed people. I have the fighter L stick and have ordered the Space R stick to be my throttle. I'm a beginner with flight sims so hopefully that wasn't a bad decision.
How are you doing hand-tracking? If this had an anlogue trigger, I'd buy it. Literally the only feature it lacks that I want for it to be my dream trigger for precision burns in 6dof.
Basically no difference. It's not 1-to-1 as different molds were used, but the dimensions are the same. DCS One has a great video comparing the two and getting statements from both companies
This is exactly what I needed. A confirmation for my purchase of the Winwing Ursa Minor HOSAS. Thank you very much for the great review. I was most interested in your mapping of the HOSAS in DCS and was wondering if you could share it with us. I have been looking for a good HOSAS mapping for DCS but have not found one yet. It also looked like you were using some kind of VR setup with the HOSAS. Maybe Meta Quest 3? The hands action part was really cool. How did you do that if it's not too much to ask. Keep up the great work.
Yeah, I was thinking about putting together at least some basic profiles for the HOSAS combo since this would avoid having to setup modifiers. Custom modifiers do not transfer well in DCS profiles. I'll be sure to let you know if I do put something together
Winwing definitelly should make normal throttle for GA purpose, as a compliment for Ursa MInor joystick. HoTas, not Hosas. HoTas set joystick+throttle offered for 150-200$ would be true bestseller, best mid-range option on the market.
Agreed! They do have a simple throttle base with no buttons or switches, but the base alone without grips already costs $137 or so. Adding grips will increase that by $115 at a minimum to $252 total. If they could somehow make this cost under $200, that would be a dream for players looking for a higher quality setup but with understandable trade-offs to keep it budget friendly. But a completely new budget throttle for GA purposes? New MSFS24 players would love that I'm sure!
@@comediangj4955 One of the reasons I'm looking for a control with the type of mechanism, a pincer gimbal, is the time of use. I saw a lot of videos where people advise beginners to use entry-level joysticks, like the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, T16000m FCS (I almost bought this one) and Turtle Beach VelocityOne Flight, but all with the plastic ball gimbal mechanism, which doesn't work properly after more than 1 year of use.
I believe that the Ursa Minor is actualy modeled after the Russian 'Flanker' series flight sticks. If you look at the cockpit of the Su-27, they look pretty similar, and the Su-35 has an almost the identical looking stick. Amazing video however, I am thinking of getting a second one just for a setup like this.
IRL, if you try to stick your probe in the little hole on the rear section of the tanker, you'll probably get any further refueling requests declined and send back to mother instead.
this was very helpful as a review. I am a longtime x52 owner looking to upgrade to a nicer stick, and as a person who mostly busts out their HOTAS to toy with elite dangerous, but also wants to play all the new stuff in MSFS2024, this was very helpful in understanding how a HOSAS works in aviation.
