Bomus question, does the rumble have any noticable effect on precision?
Nah, the rumble isn't strong enough to affect precision flying. And you typically wouldn't feel any haptic feedback during any flight regimes that require that level of precision
The haptic feedback is not customizable outside of the standard flight sim games supported by the SimAppPro software WinWing makes. I wanted to play MechWarrior with this controller and give it haptic when I pull the triggers, but there didn't seem to be any way of doing so.
What would be better to start DCS with a full fidelity model and VR: this Stick (without throttle) or Xbox Gamepad with your layout? I would use the mouse in VR to click the cockpit in both cases?
Better? A stick (not this one, get the VKB Gladiator instead - way better quality than WW). But honestly, if you want to get into DCS with a full fidelity model, i´d highly recommend to get a complete HOTAS setup. Just a stick is by far not enough to operate a FF module properly, not even the more simple warbirds. If the FF module you´re looking for is a helicopter, you must get rudder paddles as well. Any twist axis is a pita to control helicopters with. I´m on VR in DCS since 2018, it doesn´t make any difference in terms of what peripherals you should have to get a proper sim experience. VR is just the cherry on top to enhance immersion (wich i rate pretty much useless without immersive controls) and will additionally make things like carrier landings, formation flight and air to air refueling eventually a bit "easier" as distances look realistic and aircraft have a realistic "size" instead of beeing squeezed in a 32" pancake screen. Unless you have enough buttons on your HOTAS and/or other controls like MFD frames or button boxes, you´ll have to click buttons in the cockpit with your mouse, yes.
I’m just having an issue with the setup. I can’t seem to load in someone else’s either, it’s meant I’ve had it for a good few weeks now and I’ve not even flown with it. I could have set it up in that time but I just couldn’t be arsed. This is for msfs

The Super Taurus Throttle had permanent input on the X-axis of the TDC, making a 10% deadzone necessary as workaround. It also had several switches failing within 4 months. The F-15EX throttle grips suffered from the same input problem on the TDC from day one and had a incremental axis not working. Same for the UFC, 2 buttons not working from the beginning, another failing within a 2 months. All WinWing did (after needing 2 weeks to answer my warranty request) was, denial of a warranty case and offering me replacement parts i could purchase for a ridicolous price and crazy shipping costs. Got the parts from a online electronics shop for a third of the price and 3D printed the buttons from the UFC. Sold that one and got a CubeSim UFC now. Double the price, but a night and day difference and well worth the investment. Just go to the DCS Forum and search the WinWing section of the controls sub-forum. I've just got the LG x56 and I know, I know, they can be prone to experiencing issues but I find them to actually comfortable unlike the majority who claim they're un-ergonomic and the fact you get the full H.O.T.A.S set instead of just the stick is a massive benefit considering they where on sale for £160. Apparently this joystick is on sale for £113. I'm not really sure what to do here. I really like having both a stick and throttle but the Ursa Minor for £113 seems like such a steal. The only problem holding me back is that to get the throttle as well I'd be pushing into the £300-£400 overall price range. What do we think here? Do I get x56 refunded and just make do with the Ursa Minor??? Any advice here would be massively appreciated and I'd be eternally grateful to know what a more experienced flight simmers opinions are. Thanks. ;)
You don´t need to use stick and throttle from the same manufactor. I think the X-56 has a separate USB plug for throttle and stick? You can replace your stick and keep using the throttle, that shouldn´t be a problem. But don´t get WW, save a bit more money and invest in a VKB Gladiator instead. If you want a new throttle, i´d say the VKB STECS Mini is the best option when on a budget, but still wanting a premium throttle. The price will be at around £400 for both, as you expected. But if you´re addicted to flight- (or space-) sims, it is very much worth the investment.
I´d stay away from WinWing. I purchased the Super Taurus Throttle when it was released, the F-15EX Throttle grips and the F-18 UFC+HUD panel. All 3 devices arrived faulty and WinWing didn´t solve any of the issue. Go to the DCS Forum and search the WinWing section in the controls sub-forum. It´s full of ppl complaining about winwings questionable QA and poor customer support. This is not the case with other "premium" manufactors. If you´re on a budget, better get the VKB Gladiator and spend a little more money for the smallest version of the VBK STECS throttle. If willing to pay for premium, go with a Virpil HOTAS or VKB Gunfighter + pro version of the STECS. And if willing to pay for absolute top high end and wanna get what you pay for, go with a Realsimulator stick. Best flightsim peripherals i ever had, including its software. And i had a lot over the years...
@@Tuuvas Hey thanks! A belated thanks, I thought I got notifications for replies like this. Late to the party but recently discovered and loving your channel.
@@Tuuvas kind of having a hard time with dcs controls, is there any profiles for this exact stick that one could download and use and if yes, could u please link one if its not a problem 👍
Does it have hall sensors ? ok ...so from product page seems it has. As a reviewer you should be highlighting that as that is most important thing on these things. That tiny usb connector might not be ideal choice (x52 owners know). Still looks interesting.
Yeah, the lack of info depth on the features is something I'm going to improve with future review videos. The only time I mention the stick axes are Hall Effect is after the AAR refueling test. And that's a whole 8min into the video, so not ideal obviously for people looking for quick info from a video review. It's worth noting that the only axes that are Hall Effect are the pitch and roll axes. The throttle slider and thumbstick axes are potentiometer. The only one I'm not sure about is the twist axis. As for the USB C connector, it should be fine unless you're prone to physically throwing the stick more than you should be. Is the concern disconnecting the USB C plug accidentally?
@@Tuuvas Oh kido trust me it is the things that you dont think about that get you. You move your leg badly here one time you clean dust the another day and pul there. It happens on occasion and eventually connection gets bad. Trust me owners of X52 know what am talking about. And that has mini din. This thing is tiny. Eventually i rebuild the entire thing with lot bigger connector. Anyway it looks solid otherwise.
Yes, it has hall effect sensors on ALL 3 control surface axes. This is unlike the Thrustmaster fighter or Airbus sticks which have hall effect on the x and y axes, but only a potentiometer on the z (twist) axis. It also uses a gimbal with ball bearings instead of cams for the pivoting mechanism. The mechanism is damped to give a industrial joystick feel with very little back-and-forth rebound until it settles if you fully deflect an axis and abruptly release it. Other sticks, like my generally fine Saitek X-56, look like springy toys if you try that. The travel on the throttle slider is greater on the WinWing giving finer control but the x and y axes full deflection is less at +/- 15 degrees. The WinWing Airbus stick is heavier than the Thrustmaster Airbus stick and I suspect the same goes for their respective fight sticks in this price class.
alright..... what kind of "gooo" did you put in there Tuuvas? 🤣 wait a minute.... that isn't a gamepad...... who are you!? What did you do to our Tuuvas? Give him back!

Can someone explain in simple terms how to set this thing up for MSFS 2020? I dropped $130 for this stick on the strength of reviews such as this, but nowhere does it adequately explain how to set it up! Show me my money wasn't wasted.
You set it up like any other device. Manually. Learn how to use the controls binding menus of MSFS, DCS, War Thunder, etc. The provision of default profiles is up to the makers of the games.. not the makers of the device
@@Tuuvas I don't have a problem setting up a device manually in the MSFS > Options section, if it is showing there properly. I have done that with CH products, the Logitech Extreme, the Honeycomb Bravo. That's all OK. But with THIS device you can't configure it natively in the MSFS Option section without doing some other voodoo first. Apparently you need to go into Winwings' SimApp Pro software and there it just gets confusing (so seems to me it is NOT "like any other device"). SimApp Pro has totally inadequate documentation. How did you use SimApp Pro so that this stick appeared in MSFS > Options properly?
@@Tuuvas sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if you have any new recommendations for a gamepad for DCS? Your last video on the subject is a year old, and I just wanted to know if anything has changed? Thanks.

More buttons to assign to. This is my biggest issue with a lot of joysticks, you need the Throttle for the buttons alone. I have one of the old VKB Gladiators from 2018 and that is giving up the ghost now. I cannot have less buttons than this.
It you are willing to pay 100+ for a stick, you might as well simply buy one for 350, and quintuple the quality/longlivity. For a minimal budget testing if this is a hobby you like, it is really better to by a 50 bucks stick with a single slider on the side, and stick with the keyboard. This sponsored product - is inbetween the states of "let's try it out first" and "I am ready to invest long-term", and will satisfy none of them.
What kind of take is this? Some guys hop on once or twice a week for a couple hours and just need something that works a bit better than an xbox controller or a keyboard. The guy looking to spend $100-$200 to test out a potential hobby is not someone to go spend $350 on just a stick that will "last a lifetime". It's not the point of the purchase.
@@escalatedpumpkin An experience one! I have had 2 50-dollar sticks with a slider, 1 returned for the lack of buttons. The second one lasted a year, is still working and is in my collection for a potential gift. And because of that, I think it is fair to share my opinion, because the entire field is overprised due to the lack of popularity already! There is no "I hate it" notion here, I just want to point out a more fair solution - having 3 times as many buttons is more of a marketing feature, rather than functional, it won't feel that much better than using a keyboard because of the placement. And if you still find yourself in the need for them - that is a good reason to stick arround and get a good HOTAS.
@@sgtjonzo it is a copy part for part. Winwing took the evo and downgraded the electronics to mass produce at a lower cost but worse quality. look at a teardown or the vkb response.
@@Mike-qp2ot there is a video from a previous reviewer that did a teardown of both, the gimbal is the same design down to the bolt positions. Only slight plastic thickness difference here and there. But it's the same mechanism. The VKB gimbal fits right into the WW housing, that's how similar they are.
This could be a recommended product if only winwing didn't blatantly, shamelessly plagiarize VKB's gimbal from their gladiator NXT joystick. I refuse to support knockoffs like this. The VKB is slightly more expensive, but a much better buy.

I'm pretty sure the 'discount' is a lie, and it will always be at that price. It's been at 105€ every time I've looked.
I couldn't find the keybind files
Can you help, please?
Hi, I'm getting ready to place an order for this flight stick. Can you please recommend a decent throttle to go with it?
@r4dio4ctiv3man9 It's ok. I went ahead and ordered the Constellation Alpha Prime bundle. Of course it's on backorder. Probably 3 weeks out.
@@MarkDavidBlack Good choice. Pricey, but well worth the investment.
Alot of games can't see the weapon trigger buttons.
Hey Tuuvas, what are your curves (pitch, axis, rudder, TDC) when you're actually HOTASing?
I don't use any axis tune settings except maybe deadzone depending on device.
@@Tuuvas Hey thanks! A belated thanks, I thought I got notifications for replies like this. Late to the party but recently discovered and loving your channel.
how did you set it up?
Does this work for war thunder?
Question, does ths work with other flight simulators? MSFS, Xplane12, etc?
And does it support mac?
Yes for other sims. It's just another controller in the eyes of your computer. You'll just need to set up your binds yourself.
As for Mac, no idea.
@@Tuuvas im pretty sure that the ursa minor works on mac
just got mine delivered, how the hell do i set it up for dcs
Like any other flight stick or HOTAS. You setup your binds manually or find profiles online you can download and import
@@Tuuvas kind of having a hard time with dcs controls, is there any profiles for this exact stick that one could download and use and if yes, could u please link one if its not a problem 👍
It'll be on a per-module basis. I can put something together if you let me know what aircraft you fly with this
@@Tuuvas oh, i bought the su27 today just because my stick also arrived today haha. thank you so much for your effort!
How would it perform in war thunder
no.
Does anyone know if this stick is Xbox compatible? I’d like to be able to go back and forth from Xbox to pc.
It is not.
@ Well dang, thought I found it. Thanks so much for the reply and phenomenal review!
ever heard of logitech X52 and X56 on used market?
I was talking about it with you on dcs discord server while ago XD
Now we gotta wait for the throttle. Except for me. I made a LEGO one for myself so I'll only need to buy the stick hehehe :)
Have an Ursa Minor and a VKB Gladiator that it copies and rhe VKB is noticeably higher quality. But the Ursa is def. The best cheap one.
Can this joystick be used with PS5?
Refueled through the SPR!
any have profile question
I think at this point I have to keep using the controller out of spite to all the people that said it couldn't be done lol
this is amzing
His voice reminds me of the voice from DIRT 3 😬
WinWing makes you create an account and log in just to be able to add the item to the shopping cart. Not surprising
alright..... what kind of "gooo" did you put in there Tuuvas? 🤣
wait a minute.... that isn't a gamepad...... who are you!? What did you do to our Tuuvas? Give him back!
8:20 when you were doing A2A refueeling you were upside down....the F16 has its gas cap on the top. Maybe put in a bug report for it?
Or not. Your choice. 👍🏼
Tempted but with only wanting to play Star Citizen Im having a hard time justifying the purchase of two sticks vs a gamepad.
If you cannot get a HOTAS then Play SC with a mouse not a game pad. Are you insane?
Only 3 minutes in but damn. Think my current might be getting replaced.
DCS must fix this bullsh*t so that nobody can ever refuel an F-16 inverted again.
3 times the Logitech stick Either go big or as cheap as possible.
Aaaaaand you'll be back on a gamepad in half an hour.
Already am 😂 I'm tired of all this testing and product reviews I've been doing... time for an actual gameplay video next!
@@Tuuvas sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if you have any new recommendations for a gamepad for DCS? Your last video on the subject is a year old, and I just wanted to know if anything has changed? Thanks.
I highly recommend getting the Flydigi Vader 4 Pro. It is my new mainstay controller for DCS and gamepad gaming in general. Check out my review of it and you'll get to know all the features available on it
@@Tuuvas Flydigi's Vader series of pads are brilliant. Bought my Vader 3 pro on the back of what you told me.
From what I've seen the Vader 4 Pro has quite a few QOL updates.
Just wish you could add some heft to it.
Gamepads are awesome. That dude's submarine may have imploded but his Xbox controller wasn't the reason why
Only R, one more time.....
Literally why buy anything else right now. This stick is a game changer in the price to performance value for flight sticks. The competition will need to step up their game now which will be great for consumers going forward.
There already was a good price performance stick on the market that’s still better than the winwing, and winwing just copied VKB
@@Roller-Coaster_Creations No the VKB stick gimball was not vkb’s design. It was a pattend owned by thrustmaster. VKB has as much “stolen” design as winwing
@@Roller-Coaster_Creations Yea the gladiator was the dominant option for so many years! Glad customers have a choice now and imo the Ursa Minor is a much better purchase.
And if you still find yourself in the need for them - that is a good reason to stick arround and get a good HOTAS.
flying chopper without proper hotas and pedals have no sense at all
That's a blatant copy of the VKB Evo
@@Zayats_MW not really a copy but it does serve the same purpose
@@sgtjonzo it is a copy part for part. Winwing took the evo and downgraded the electronics to mass produce at a lower cost but worse quality. look at a teardown or the vkb response.
I assume you have a copy of VKB's patent on the design?
@@Mike-qp2ot Stop dickriding
@@Mike-qp2ot there is a video from a previous reviewer that did a teardown of both, the gimbal is the same design down to the bolt positions. Only slight plastic thickness difference here and there. But it's the same mechanism. The VKB gimbal fits right into the WW housing, that's how similar they are.
All glory to Chinese Intellectual Property theft!
This could be a recommended product if only winwing didn't blatantly, shamelessly plagiarize VKB's gimbal from their gladiator NXT joystick.
I refuse to support knockoffs like this. The VKB is slightly more expensive, but a much better buy.
thanks for the review! recently i picked up DCS after seeing your controller guide on it and it's so exciting! right now i'm just getting used to the game, while struggling to fly the su25t, but i enjoy it, so thank you for your guide. i may get this stick if i'll keep playing for some time, just to make sure it's worth investing time and money into it
Just a small bit of feedback, don't use the radio compression effect for reviews. It's a limitation of real life that doesn't apply to sims, but makes it harder to understand what you're saying due to the fake compression.
Such a copycat of a device, the grip look, the gimbal...
Compare it to gladiator not this junk
This is a blatant copy of tht vkb evo
Theree bound to be a legsl case here as they literally copied the pincher gimble directly from thr vkb Evo gladiator
Extremely Scummy.

@@vondalo5504 It is an exact copy with downgraded parts look for a teardown or at vkbs official response. Overall its a part per part copy of the evo with flat out worse electronics and worse form factor base. It is not recommendable because winwings customer service is worse than vkb's
