- In this video we show you the basic steps need to bypass for factor amp when adding an aftermarket amp. We show you how to test for speaker wires. Then we show you how to find the positive and negative wires. We also make a factory plug for the amp so we don not have to cut any wires.

I feel like this was way more complicated than it should've been.. I would normally use a wire diagram or owners manual to figure out what wire are what...But i suppose if you dont have any of that this would be good to. I'm keep searching on how to by pass the factor amp/sub hopefully there's a start to finish video that explains more clearly . Good video tho

This is how a shop would do it . I would just run all new speaker wires to the door speakers . Yes it may take half a day but I'm not spending a bunch of money on those devices l'm only going to use once .
Did exactly that today to my explorer new speaker wire runs tossed the old wires to the side someone whoever owned it before me chopped off all the harnesses made a big mess.

Yes exactly A shop told me I needed to do something with my stock Amplifier No need to mess with it just run new wire to my new Set of component speakers back to my amplifier. Simple and easy
You could just look up a wiring diagram for your car radio to amp and it will show u all the information you need to do the same thing

Thank you for the video. I have 2017 Acura TLX base model. Keeping my factory headunit. It has a factory amp. One harness is pre-amp and 2nd harness is post-amp. The pre-amp only have FL, FR (-/+) whereas post-amp has all (FL,FR, RL, RR, TW, and subwoofer (-/+)). I'm planning to replace all speakers and subwoofer using JL-Fix86 for OEM integration. My question is do I use pre-amp or post-amp harness to run to JL-Fix86?. Thank you.

Edwin Valle yes this can be a pain when you have no clue what the wires are. Things we do- most of the time we are replacing the speakers, if this is the case- use a volt meter on continuity to meter between the speaker wire and the amp plug. You can get all the wire colors this way.

your method was good i would've used a 2nd head unit to identify the which wires goes to which speakers. Make a videos bypassing Mercedes factory amplifier with a new head unit.
Well if you want to go ahead and wire a radio drag it around to the back of a car and then identify speakers but not know the polarity(FaZe). I guess that would work but they make tools for a reason because it's professional and cost-effective to be able to use these tools over and over. again as the other gentleman was talking about a 9-volt that puts out enough current to make the speaker's jump but you still have to look at the speakers
Could you teach how to bypass a Pontiac Torrent 2008, the speakers do not sound because the amplifier does not allow current to reach them

On a 2004 Avalanche, pull the radio, trace back on the factory harness and you'll find it is plugged into another harness exactly nthe same. Unplug the one formerly connected to stereo and use the further one back to bypass factory amp. Many othes maybe the same, check wiring schematics.

I have a 98 infinity q45 and I want to bypass the bose factory amp , also replacing all 6 speakers 2 in the front doors ,2 in the back doors, and 2 in the back or you could call it 8 if you count the two tweaters in the front pillars . Good video, I have 2003 Chevy suburban w/bose system I changed the head unit to a pioneer 4200nex. Now wat I would like to see is how would you go about getting rid of the bose system amp & bypass for a aftermarket amp with 2 10" subbox in rear

That is what we did in that system. We removed the Bose amp and mounted our crossovers in the amp location and added amps. Your car may have the amp in the back but same basic idea. Remove the factory sub and mount the amps there.
98 f150 ....factory amp is located under the radio. There is 2 plugs that fit the install kit wire harness. Should be able to unplug them and plug in my harness an bypass the amp to the new 5 Chan. Kenwood

GREAT VIDEO, i have a 2007 acura tl i was going to use the factory sub wires to instal a mtx thunder 240 which has built in high level convertor and replace the factory sub, do i need to do any thing extra to insure a clean sound should i use the amp built in high level convertor or buy a separte convertor
sevi0724 I believe on that car the radio puts out inline level to the factory amp. You may be able to just attach some RCA ends before the factory amp.

I have a 2019 Mercedes GLE and from what I understand the amp has optical cables in. I did add a sub in the previous OEM enclosure , but would like to change the door speakers and want enough power to have clear crisp sound. Am I able to bypass this?

I wanted to do this same concept on an 05 hummer h2 but the front stage is getting upgraded with A set of Focal Components how could I wire the front mids and tweet to the focal crossover but still use the factory wiring so I don’t have to go through the molex? Could I just grab the mid speaker wires in the kick panel cut them in half run one set to the crossover and the other set to the aftermarket amp? And just run the new tweeter wires to the crossover? Any suggestions thanks guys

I've been trying to find a solution for my 2011 Hyundai Sonata Limited 2.0T with NAV and Infinity Premium Stereo.
What I want is to retain this OEM Radio and bypass the built-in AMP (meaning to remove it) and install an aftermarket AMP. Like a 5-channel AMP so I can upgrade the speakers and sub after. I've been reaching a solution for this SPDIF converter from the OEM Radio to an aftermarket AMP. Is it possible for FiveStar to find me this solution? I'm willing to compensate for giving me this solution. Thank you in advance.
I have a new head unit and took out my factory head unit. My harness kit coming out of the dash has 2 ground wires (one labeled chassis ground and one normal ground) and the head unit has 1 ground wire (labeled chassis/normal ground). I don't know if I hook up the head unit ground wire to the harness ground wire, or if I need to ground all three to the chassis.. and if I do connect them, there's still an extra ground wire coming from the harness kit in the dash.
Also, do I need to bypass my factory amp? I am not replacing speakers, but I do plan to put a mono amp and sub in at some point, which I have already bought.

I will be doing this for my 2015 LS460 in a couple weeks. Never installed an amp before but going to be using Crutchfield customer support to assist in the project. Lol 😂
Putting in a kenwood excelon x802-5 and a wavtech link 6 LOC. already upgraded my speakers but realizing it needs better power than the stock amp can provide. Speakers in dash are Audison APX4, front door speakers are Hertz CPX 690 Pro, rear doors are Hertz CPK 165 pro, and rear deck sub location is Audiofrog GS8ND2. Also it will be nice since the front doors are only getting low frequencies right now once the amp and loc are installed it should provide those 3 way speakers with a full signal so they can actually do what they are made to do. And will probably disconnect the center dash speaker altogether so I will be running front door and side dash speakers in parallel for one channel left and one channel right then the rear doors speakers will have their own channel each left and right side and then the sub will get the sub channel.
Keep in mind my car did NOT have mark levinson sound just the “premium” audio junk.
Side note crutchfield did supple me with the wiring diagram for my vehicle so I don’t have to do any of this testing of phase and speakers because I I will know the color scheme in my car

Casey Friday yeah I started wearing them about 4 years ago and now that is all I can wear. They suck for work shoe, they only last about 4 months.
I wore them for about 5 years, and it got too expensive to keep replacing them (the smell!) so I switched back to regular shoes. They are super comfortable, though.

remzsti we stock every plug to replace radios they make and sometimes we get lucky. You may want to take a picture of the plug and go to your local shop and see if the have it. You can also download the Metra book at www.metraonline.com and check there.

So my dashboard in my car works just fine but there's no sound coming out. So I suspect that my amp might be broken or bad wiring. So I took it out and nothing looked wrong. Is there a way use my speakers without an amp. A bypass of some sort
Ryoka Boy no, if the car has an amp it will more then likely have low level output. This not enough to power a speaker. Have you checked eBay for replacement amp

I have done this to my '01 Audi B5 with Bose. The only thing I didn't do was to find a harness plug for a clean install, i just cut the wires and ran it to my JBL BP 84.4.
What amp did you used to run all 6 full range speakers? I replaced all Bose speakers with full range Kicker KS series all 4ohms Front, Rear and rear deck, however I am not getting the proper phase in the rear deck with my 4ch amp even tho the rear deck is wired in series down to 2 ohms. I realize that is not perfect is why am asking the question of what amp to use. Right now I'm looking at a 6ch JBL Grandtouring 775.6, would this help my case with running 6 full range speakers properly even though on the 6ch amp ch 5&6 are for sub output??? I already have a JBL BP1200.1 running a single 12 DC audio lvl 4 sub. Please advise!!! 😀
El_Skippy yeah sometimes you have to cut the plug. I would not get the 6 channel that would be a wast. If I'm understanding this right, you want more power? A loader system.
