- In this video I'll be showing how to bypass a factory external amplifier and just run your speakers off the the amp in your aftermarket headunit!

Love your explanation of the bypass harness. I will be doing this on my son's '03 Ram 2500. You clarified very well the interconnect plug between the head unit and the OEM harness, plus the red wire for power with the key on. I have been watching videos and researching until I'm near blind trying to figure this out. I think I have a handle on it now. Good job! I have been installing car sound systems since the '70s, but the car manufacturers have made things more complicated as the years go by. The Infinity system is an odd one. The door speakers are essentially sub woofers with mid range and tweeters in the dash and pillars...at least on the Ram.

So I basically unplug the stock harness, and plug this new one in and run it to the head unit?

Nice work but I think I would had taken 4 or even 6 RCAs from radio to back. And used 4 channel amp to power factory speakers and D-class amp for woofer. But this shows what is needed if someone wants to just use their aftermarket radio without any amps at all.

Great video, man. I stumbled across it for one reason or another not needing the tutorial (I really like the stock head unit in mine-I have the nav system in my 2007 Overland and 6 disc changer w/mp3 in the 2005 Laredo), but you are well explained and this seems easy to follow!

I'm sure that said, there is an easy way to add a sub off the stock system as well with a second amp, but as mine came with the "Premium Sound" I already make enough bass to aggravate my neighbors Lol

I bought the bypass kit and after a day my speakers went out and I put some new ones in and it started staticing what could be causing that
Nice video but just tap into the power outlets as they are switched and will be more than enough of a "remote" turn on. Those fuse tap things always end up coming loose at some point.
Do you tap the factory wires that were plugged into the factory stereo into the amp bypass wires?

Hi Parker, thanks, good job. Well, I'm French and own a 2006 WH (WK with a diesel) with also a REJ head unit and a Boston Acoustic. Maybe I'll plan to replace the head unit with a touchscreen Android. I guess I won't need to keep the Boston amp. My question is : does it exist a connection harness to connect together the 2 plugs removed from the amplifier and connecting the inputs and the outputs directly after have removed the amp. I mean, that way, don't need to re-install an entire long harness from the back to the front ? Great video. Thanks. Herve.

When the volume is all the way down do you hear any static from the speakers? I installed an aftermarket radio and I hear static when the volume is turned all the way down. I think the factory amp is the problem. This is in a Honda element with factory sub woofer and factory amp. What would you do if you were me?

So if I were to bypass my stock amp and remove it.. if I were to install after market tweeters, where do I wire them to? They're just small 50w rms 200w max ds18 tweeters.
Did yours originally have the boston acoustics system? Mine seems to limit the db on the speakers after a certain point, and the front 6x9s don't play mids

Just buy aftermarket amp and run all new speaker wire and bammm. Factory amp problem solved lol

I have a 2007 Jeep Laredo. My front right tweeter makes a cracking or popping sound at high volumes. It sounds like you’re putting a needle on a record. I replaced both tweeters with aftermarket but the problem persists. I’m struggling to determine what the problem could be. Potentially bad wires running to the tweeters? Bad amp? Do I need an aftermarket stereo? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
If you haven’t bypassed the factory amp, that is most likely what it is.
If you have bypassed it, it could be a number of things. If you’re running more power than the speakers can handle, that could happen. It could be a wiring issue. Look at the specs and make sure everything is cherry

Would it be less work to just run wire from doors speakers direct to speakers and you can use thicker better wire???

Just buy aftermarket 4 channel and run all new speaker wire. And forget about that factory amp. Saves a big headache

If it is the infinity system it definitely does have a factory amp. If it doesn’t have the infinity system them I’m not sure
Parker Dacchille ok thanks. reason i was asking i placed a Sony hi power with all new pioneer two ways & i cant crank the volume more than half ways , if i do it starts cracking popping. distorted sound .
Sid ok yes I would imagine it must have an amp then and sending in high level signals is causing the factory amp to distort.

I'd really appreciate your thoughts! I tried running the bypass wires into a Boss bv9386nv stereo and all of the speakers work, except the front right. Not only that, the speakers that do work are much, much quieter than when they were running on the factory amp. I have two Alpine 6x9s in the front and stock speakers in the rear. Any help at all is REALLY appreciated. I can't figure it out!
Stock speakers are 2ohm and aftermarket are 4ohm. Upgrade the rear speakers

Crutchfield has the plug and play harness that you need. I did this for a 2006 Jeep Commander and a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo

That factory amp sucks.Its a good paper weight.Its not like your beautiful aftermarket Amp.

Just got around to ordering this kit. The problem that I’m having is kind of weird. I had Kicker Ks series speakers installed about a month or so ago and My rear speakers are working fine, but my front door speakers sound like subs and my dash speakers are getting all the highs. Will this kit fix my problem?

Factory amp has 1/3 the power output of most modern cheap head units
@@JameyCampbell_54 so if you don't bypass the factory Amp and you install a new head unit, wouldn't your speakers get power from both Amp sources? I have a option on my Kenwood to bypass (volume gets low) and through (volume gets louder)
Yusuf Jorgenz your head unit should have a wire that connects to the amp out on the wiring harness behind the dash. It only lets one or the other send power to the door speakers
@@JameyCampbell_54 Yep. I "upgraded" to the Kicker amp and could literally tell no difference between it and the BA amp.

@@ParkerTheBasshead, I tried that but, seems no mater what I try I keep loosing my instrument panel and gauges when I turn the stereo.... any idea why? Im getting my harness in a couple of days but still unsure of how to avoid my problem
ruby rl the harness should have your constant 12v and ground so I’d wait till it comes in and see if that fixes it.
