Pupil, 16, took own life after 'hyper-fixation' on first school detention as father calls for help

Caitlyn Scott-Lee was found dead on the premises of Wycombe Abbey in Buckinghamshire last Friday, the day before her punishment.
She had been given a two-hour "headmistress's detention" after vodka and a tattoo kit were found in her music locker at the girl's school just before the Easter break.
The pupil, who was diagnosed with autism last year, was upset at the prospect and it preyed on her mind for weeks before the tragedy.
In her final diary entry, on April 20, she wrote: "I hope this is my last diary entry. I want to kill myself tomorrow."
She was so upset about the detention she ran away from a choral event she was due to sing at in March, and wrote in the diary: "Running away was the best cry out for help I could give and you [Wycombe] responded with 'we'd normally punish you but you’re already getting punished'

Such a sad story. She needed mental help and counseling instead of detention imo. Rest easy sweetheart❤. May her father find peace she was a daddy's girl.

So she kill her self over detention in school. That dozen make any sense. The father was to blame for not looking after her and needed help.

There will no doubt have been other reasons why she felt the need to take such a drastic step. Depression can be complex and rarely arises from a single event. Unfortunately, the press try to oversimplify things but this young girl more than likely had other issues that needed addressing. Such a dreadful tragedy 😔 My thoughts go out to her family ❤

I'm sorry she'd dead but she had vodka and a tattoo kit. What was the school supposed to do? A detention was mild punishment taking into account what she actually did.

Father blaming her autism. She can't have been overtly autistic if she was only diagnosed in her mid teens. She was clearly mentally unstable probably from childhood abuse.

I was diagnosed autistic at the age of 38, despite having clear autistic traits from a young age. I was never abused. Your ignorance is astounding.
