This just abruptly started happening to me, bought 3 new mics nothing works. Turns out all the headsets work on other xboxs. Tried other controller both controllers work on other Xbox and mic works fine. Nothing in this video or the other 30 I've watched helped one bit. Ready to just bash this Xbox into the pavement outside.

What about your headset volume? Your char mixer is all the way up but if your headset volume is down you won't be able to hear anything

Only wireless headphones mic’s work, the wired headphones work but the mic doesn’t, tried on Nintendo switch and the mic works fine, I’ve tried two different controllers on two Xbox series s and wired still doesn’t work, it use to but doesn’t anymore, I tried to return the headset but the store tested the headset on their store xbox and it works fine…….out of ideas

I can talk via voice messages, so my headset works. Just bought it today ( Arctis Nova 5x Wireless). I just can't speak in games for some reason. I tried Cod Modern Warfare III and Rocket League. Neither of them are allowing me to chat. I can't figure out why. Any ideas? No, I'm not chat banned.

Everyone, shutdown your Xbox, then pull out the power cord, leave it out for about a minute or two. Then plug it all back in and turn it back on. Worked for me

Go to your party settings and select: switch to game chat.
