    This is so true so many ppl try to make someone feel better instead of actually listening and understanding their true pain

    • @thepowerofhelpingwithreube4407
      @thepowerofhelpingwithreube4407  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it really is. If we think about the aim of listening for the other person to feel heard and understood, we should try our best to align what we say back to how they are feeling. Love your channel name by the way.

      @thepowerofhelpingwithreube4407  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah empathy is such a key component that is often missed. Not just, 'yeah but' responses, or 'yeah and.' but instead taking the time to acknowledge what has been said and how that must make the person feel.

    You bring up an excellent point...our discomfort when people are feeling bad and being able to sit in that. I'm bad for that because I want to encourage people so much to help them navigate out of that. Not immediately but it makes me ask myself if a part of the reason is because i don't like the negative vibe. Love your content Reuben, cheers!

    • @thepowerofhelpingwithreube4407
      @thepowerofhelpingwithreube4407  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      What you say resonates with me so much! In those moments of praising them, we just got ask ourselves, who is this comment for? Also, what this makes me think is, a simple way of looking at it is, we should be thinking to ourselves 'what is the feeling beneath what they are saying?', then we should try and match that feeling. If we go to the opposite of that feeling, they won't feel like we are understanding them. I'm so glad you enjoy the content Nisreen! Thoroughly enjoyed your catering video this week. That definitely resonated!

    Listening is so so important! as a physician assistant I found that when I focused on listening I really was able to best help my patients. Now as an entrepreneur when I can listen to the real needs of my clients I can best serve.

    • @thepowerofhelpingwithreube4407
      @thepowerofhelpingwithreube4407  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah absolutely! Listening should be the foundation for solution selling, which is client focused. If we bring it back to how people are feeling, not just what they are saying, they will feel heard, understood and like you are truly interested in them!

    You and your father are incredible examples of great listeners !! My childhood of being around a big extended family with a lot of people who didn’t deeply listen to and talked over each other means that I feel such gratitude in the balm and connection of good listeners and inspires me to listen more fully myself so thanks to you for this wonderful guidance
