Ah Ha... Don't throw away your original 2jz gte con rods!!!!!!!!!! watch this video and you will find some tips and advice on the connecting rods of 2jz na (ge) or gte.
I have a 2jz GE and a 2jz GE with vvti. I want to build a na-t . So the combo of the two would be a good fit from what I have read. Other than the vvti the heads are the same correct?
@@Redtag73 sorry I'm not 100% sure about 2jz GE non VVTi head. But I have one video about 2jz gte and ge VVTi heads
Should I go Stock GTE bottom end, Brian Crower, or HKS? I'm Looking to build to around 500-600hp? Do you have Facebook?
@@Redtag73 yeah I do have facebook, the link is in the description. dam all the things u said all can achieve 500 to 600hp hehe =D BC and HKS would be the dream
im gonna prove you wrong boi
Fun Fact: Early 2jzge VVTi motors came thicker rods due to leftover parts. They make up the compression ratio by modifying the head and Headgasket, usually the very first batch of IS300 came with thicker rods.
what about the 05 2jzge vvti
@@chrisboost67707 2002-2005 came with the thinner vvti rods
Interesting, I have a 2001 is300, number 199 on the spec plate in the door. Can't wait to open it up this winter when I do a rebuild to prep for a turbo!
@@notsoaveragejoe2JZ what did you find out?
@@clyde9659 unfortunately I haven't opened up my bottom end yet. Making far less $$ than I used to (worked on pipeline, thanks politics) so I spent most of my money on suspension, brakes and body mods for a mild widebody. Frp front fenders +20mm and trimmed,molded/flares rear quarters too but no major rebuild yet
Thank you! I reference all of your vids for building my 2jzge bottom end
Oh thanks for your support.. Don't forget to subscribe
one more great video! greetings mate
is it ok to put GTE pistons in a GE block?
No problem hehehe.. That's what I did
@@cheapkailaujing oh cool! someone told me the GTE Piston was designed to be used with Oil Squirters, but i didnt think that was true,
Can you install 2jz gte connecting rod on 1jz ge block?
good video my friend
Good morning Tuesday
So just use ur ge piston tops with gte rods and your good to good right?of course rings too etc etc but just change the rods and thicker head gasket your hood to good.
well ge pistons have higher compression ratio, if u are good ( using race fuel/ methanol or e85) then u can go for higher compression than normal gte pistons. =)
Thanks for making this video. You are awesome!
Thanks for your kind words.. Hope my videos are able to help u
I have a Question regarding 2JZ GE NA-T Build. Hope you can help.
I have a 2JZ GE Non-vvti and want to do FFIM and delete the ugly distributor. Thanks to your advice im going to do drive by wire, so i bought a porsche tb and a pedal. I want to know what else i need for this? CPS?
Thank you.
hmm this one i have not done before, but i would guess that u need to use the cam sensor, and maybe machine the place, (be careful of clearances) u may need vvti / non vvti cams because there is a protrusion for the sensor to sense.. sorry i am not very good in this, anyone can help? =)
More awesome information thanks
Hope you all like them
Do you by chance know in what order the rods go in on the 2jz-ge? For example would it by chance be "F-5-2-2-5-1? I know the F rod is the front and #1 rod is the back. Just dont remember where the 2's and 5's go
hmm i dont think it matter, most importantly is the con rod is with its matching big end
Thank you very much! Very helpful!
i have a 2jz GE VVTi that I'm rebuilding. it came from an 02 Is300.
I'm looking to swap in the thicker rods, weather they're from the GTE or the GE non VVti doesnt make a difference to me since theyre the same.
Can and should i just purchase new OEM rod bearings and put them on?
Yeah if rebuilding it's always good to replace the con rod and main bearings.. Yeah as long as they are thick rods, it should be all good.. Get a good tune if u r using standalone or boosting up.. If not they are all good
@@dabitat don't worry, any aftermarket con rods and pistons will be better than original ones. Provided they are good quality
Im building a 2jz ge nat, i have gte rods but do you think i should change the pistons aswell, I’ve been told vvti na pistons are fine
Hmm ge pistons are slightly thinner and also higher compression.. U gotta know ur target horsepower and fuel to use first before deciding on which pistons u wanna use
Hi there, I am planning on putting gte rods and pistons in my ge vvti on my gs300. The rods I bought did not come with the rod caps am I able to use the ge ones with gte rods?
Ah.. Cannot. Each rod must have its corresponding rod caps. Even gte con rods also cannot mix up to use.
I have a 2001 jdm supra SZ, non vvti. Did they switch the internals in the non vvti engines in 1998 when they started building the vvti or does my engine have the strong connecting rods?
hmm i heard all non vvti has stronger rods, and some ge vvti has stronger rods, some has weaker rods. couldn't confirm this because i couldnt source any non vvti already
I got a set of rods a pins for like $150 a while back this is a pretty cheap way to be safe till like 500 or so.
Are they gte? :) currency strength of usd is so strong compare with Malaysia ringgit haha
Michael Chung Racing -Cars Explained yes but they came from a jdm engine.
Will the thinner rods be able to hold 300 bhp?
Will the thinner rods handle high revs better than the thicker ones because (I'm guessing) it's lighter?
yeah it would rev higher, but the weak points for 2jz high revs are the valve springs and main pulley. 300hp should be alright =D
@@cheapkailaujing sorry, I wasn't being specific enough, I meant 300 bhp NA, which means it has to be revved really high...
@@nickamarit hmm not really, hp can be gain elsewhere safer rather than rpm. maybe cams, ecu tuning, injectors, and or porting... rpm is not so safe if u don't have main pulley or valve springs. we have seen many kaboom before
Guess I'll need to upgrade the main pulley and valve springs then. Thx, Michael.
@@cheapkailaujing so you're saying you get 300 + whp out of the engine without a turbo ? And how much boost hp can the ge con rods with stand ?
Nice
How about crank? Ge and gte can pnp?
Yeah!! :)
So either way I can use gte internals on my ge?
oh ya definitely
I know I have asked before but I can't find any information on this. Anybody? Can a GE head water ports be machined larger for more better flow on the cooling system?
sorry i don't have the answer for this question
but the cooling system has its trick to it, the original water ports are all good for up to very high hp numbers, and more tips here: th-cam.com/video/SzX4yshd5N8/w-d-xo.html
the trick is to do properly the water routes with no bubbles
Hey great info.. iv seen guys killing each other in threads over this topic lol I never heard about the rods in the 2jz gte vvti? What rods do they have? Thicker I hope as I'm looking to purchase one for a 240sx and hoping to make around 650hp
haha u gotta watch the whole video man =D i have explained inside
It's funny that you make fun of the 4age because if you compare a 2jzgte with a 4agze rod the 4agZe rod looks much stronger (and probably is).. It looks like a shortened 2jzgte rod
Good info Mike happy Tuesday.👍You've already cleared up for me another TH-camrs trash info on the subject, his claim that the ge con rods were thicker and to use them in gte applications. Facepalm. His were probably already swapped as well🤣 Appreciate the clarity 🤙
Yeah I have opened 3 2jz GE VVTi. 2 of them got thin rods, luckily one of them got thick rods. Maybe that's why I was able to buy the ge in the first place because everyone bought the gte already, left the poor ge haha
2jzge non vvti has the same rods as the gte. Its the exact same part number from toyota.
@@ricardovalentin2094 he annotated that in the vid 1:07.
@@cheapkailaujing Mike one more question I had. I recently watched a thorough LS vs coyote engine build and they mentioned by plugging the oil squirters that it experienced added horsepower. You have any experience with that? Or is the benefit of keeping the squirters outweigh the HP gains?
@@Ki777UMiNATii hmm for Ls and coyote I wouldn't know, but for 2jz, the original oil pump is more than sufficient to provide enough oil pressure even there are oil squiters. And they doesn't provide more or reduce hp, but oil squiters add cooling for pistons.. That's all I think
I've seen stock unopened 2jz gte make 847rwhp
Hmm I have nvr heard of such things. Stock cams does not allow that much air in. Stock pistons and con rods cannot take that high horsepower too. Definitely will bend or catastrophic failure
Send you a link to my engine noise? IG. metallic wratcheting sound, maybe valve adjustment?
You can check my Facebook.. Sometimes just have to hear closely and at low rpm.. To know what's wrong or where
