  • Sometimes it is quite costly to go through learning processes where small mistakes in selection of oil pump can results in catastrophic bill in the end of the month.
    Always go for the 2JZ GTE Original Oil pump

    Learn the difference between 2JZ NA and GTE Oil Pump from Michael Chung. Choose wisely on which oil pump you use, and prevent costly repairs on oil pump. Protect the oil pump with a new aftermarket harmonic balancer so that the vibrations are absorbed. Most oil pumps are killed by high rpm, high vibrations, and/or oil starvation. Knowing the differences, and make the correct decision for your boosting application! Happy boosting! HInt: always get a new GTE oil pump for any lower than 800hp 2JZ mod. For more than that, dry sump method is recommended.
    For now the 2JZ GTE engines are getting more rare, the 2JZ NA engines are becoming more popular for engine builders to use. Understand those differences and make necessary adjustments!

    on GTE pump you can drill a bigger diameter on the return channel, right near to the gasket. you also forgot to mention that on the GTE pump, you have Crank position sensor wich is not on a GE pump. Good video.

    Good video !
    im close to starting my 2jzge na-t engine build. I want to go coil on plug and primarily looking at the GTE oil pump to run the crank position sensor so i can delete my distributor entirely and just plug the hole that it originally went.
    Only thing is everywhere im reading people are saying the GTE oil pump on the NA can cause oil leaks from over pressurizing the system. Since the GTE has the oil squirters it doesnt deal with a ton of pressure but since the GE doesnt have them alot of pressure apparently builds up.

    • @cheapkailaujing
      @cheapkailaujing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes the oil pressure is super high but so far so good.. Just don't port the oil pump to make it even higher pressure, or use too high viscosity engine oil. Use something like 10w40 or even 10w60

    Your videos are very informative. My only question on this is how much oil pressure should I need for an na-T build for which I am shooting for about 750 hp? Do you think I should be good if I just put a GTE oil pump on with a good catch can and PCV system so I do not blow the fr. and rear main seals out?

    • @cheapkailaujing
      @cheapkailaujing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      gte oil pump is a must for every upgrade of 2jz NA or T. oil catch tank is a must for any turbo, be it low or big boost. the oil pressure, i think best is, during the engine has warmed up, idling, should be minimum 3 bars. so choose your engine oil wisely to reach that =)

    Would you be able to add oil squirters to an engine that doesn't have any?

    • @nickclewer5723
      @nickclewer5723 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@cheapkailaujing Yes, oil squirters can be added. The block can be drilled and tapped to accept them. Any engine machine shop should be able to do this. It will require a bare block as it will been to be flushed and cleaned after. If you do put in oil squirters, change to the GTE pump as you will need that added volume and pressure for them. There are many benefits to oil squirters including piston cooling, little end protection and cylinder wall/ring sealing. Personally if I had a GE block and rebuilding the bottom end, I'd like them in. Toyota didn't use them on every turbo charged version for no reason.
