As someone who has gotten this platinum, i want to say that the VR missions are my least favourite part of the game, they feel over bloated with how many there are, the variety missions with mgs1 sniper took me 2 days to complete, and i dont think i have ever been so angry with a game before.
As well as that, i was also stupid enough to forget to pick up the body armour in the extreme run of the story, so i was doing the ray and solidus boss fights without any rations, and only able to take 1 hit before dying.... this platinum is frustrating beyond belief at times, but my god it feels amazing to finally pop that sweet sweet hard earned platinum trophy.
The Journey took me almost an entire year, and i salute you for taking this game on and platting it, you absolute trooper!
The VR missions were my least favourite part of the game too. Such a grind.
Missing the body armour on extreme is unfortunate. Fair play to your for sticking with it.
The time VR takes is quite long (~30 hours) but very few missions are hard, even if the hard ones are really hard. Worst are probably MGS1 grenades or sniping cover missions I'd say
@@ceruxii3079 the pressure sensitivity when doing the AK hold up missions is so bad, i wish i had done that part on Vita, cause at least then you can use the d-pad to raise and lower weapons
@@thegolden4th Yeah I forgot that, with the handgun its quite easy but the automatic weapons are awful to play in the hold up missions
The VR missions are the hardest part. E. Extreme is hard too, but with a guide and patience it's not thaaat bad.

@@AdamMcDermott I mean I have just got the platinum for dead space 2, and I have never come close to quitting a game as much as this. I died twice on the elevator ride on chapter 7, once in the Ishimura on chapter 10, once on chapter 11, I died on chapter 12 because I walked into the drill, and twice on the final boss. But it was worth it as the foam finger is probably the best reward weapon I have ever got. Also when would it be possible to do a platinum journey on dead space 3?
@@reeceburnett600 I won't be doing Dead Space 3. I tried playing it several times but really didn't like it. Felt like too much of a shooter.
Snake's monologue at the end is one of the most profound moments in gaming for me personally.

@@AdamMcDermott2 years later and your platinum journey it's amazing I have pending the platinum of metal gear solid 2 + 3 + 4 I only have all the trophies of these great games by hideo Kojima: metal gear solid 5 ground zeroes metal gear solid 5 the phantom pain metal gear solid peace walker and rising revengeance what is it When Raiden left Rose after Metal Gear Solid 4 and went to work for another organization, Metal Gear Solid is one of my favorites, but the whole saga is good and with a very good story, if you understand it, of course, but if you're just for it platinum what are you playing for then? If I play a game it's because of the story but if I see that the platinum is complicated I won't get it

My favorite thing about these Platinum Journey videos is by far those moments where you’ve hit a brick wall of difficulty, push through, and when you finally succeed, how you light up with excitement. You’re one resilient gamer Adam!

Fr, i attempted to get the platinums for asylum, city and knight. I did asylum, but omg Arkham city and and Arkham knight riddler challenges are my kryptonite.
I platinumed Arkham city last year and few days ago got Asylum. Currently i'm close to getting Origins platted but it has to be the most difficult of all the arkham games combined for me, 7 year trophy collection in the making Origins was lol
Imagine being the developers and artists who programmed the last battle with the large snow soldiers! Imagine how many gamers actually got to play that!
To think I platinumed this game 8 years ago.
I can say this was one of my post memorable and difficult platinum trophy to obtain and thanks to that, one of the post satisfying along with MGS4's platinum

Props for getting this one. MGS2 is my favorite game of all time, and even I had to take a couple months break due to how exhausting it was to do everything back to back. Definitely the hardest MGS platinum, not counting Revengeance.

I used to love the mgs games when I was a kid and I still do! You made me attempt going for the remaining platinum trophies for mgs2 and 4... And God - I didn't think mgs 2 is going to be so tough 😅

Congrats Adam, just finished my platinum for MGS2, hardest one I’ve gotten by far, the MG Ray fight on extreme nearly broke me and the VR missions just seemed to go on forever. But we’ll worth it in the end 😀

That was so incredible! Played this to death as a kid on my PS2, long before trophies. Was so keen to try and unlock everything but fell short. So many memories came back while watching this. Can't believe you finished it all! What a challenge!

really enjoyed this episode and I am patiently waiting for the ghost of tsushima episode! I honestly thought you would have given up during the grind for the last few vr and alternative missions at the end but when you get so close to earning the platinum, you cant give up!

That Meryl sniping missing took me literally like 200 attempts. I left the game for like 5 years after getting stuck at that point and eventually came back to it
I'd say I was also up around 200 attempts. Nightmare.
I suppose it’s too late to mention this but taking the Diazepam all in a row like that negates the long term effect; you must take one at a time and unfortunately wait for your hands to shake for the next to be effective. I’m pretty sure anyway..
@@HooDFoX2021 Taking them one at a time seems to last longer, but for such a short mission, taking them all at once meant my hands never shook.

This is my favorite of the series (maybe tied with MGS3) so I really wanted to platinum it but got kind of hesitant after seeing the trophy list… maybe I’ll just slowly chip away at it. But on the other hand I feel like the MGS games benefit a lot from you learning them front-to-back through repetition so it might be better to hammer away at it until it’s done, idk

This was a very entertaining watch, I thank you for pushing through and sharing your journey. .. On the note of Emma, most MGS players didn't even like it back then. We all agree it felt weird, controlled horrible and seemed to be massively shoehorned in... Mostly the swimming bit, the sniper part on older consoles wasn't AS bad, but back then we just kind of accepted janky MGS controls, heh. Also the swimming section brought us one of Riden's most beloved memes... "We managed to avoid drowning!"

Firstly, congratulations on the completion, what a masterpiece of a game, way ahead of its time.. I purchased this game on both ps vita and ps3, I highly doubt that I'll ever complete platinum on either but imagine having to do both, without cross saving... FML
