This video has been very helpful to us. The shorter bolts (3 of them) for the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) cover that we got from our local hardware store, and worked perfectly are size M6 x 12 (metric of course). To make the cover plate we also used an angle grinder then a bench grinder to finish, on 1/16 inch thick stainless steel.
Kool, I had an 89 b2200 automatic. Sold it in early 2000’s with 220k miles. It still ran great, 29mpg. It was starting to use a bit of oil tho… Looking forward to your future videos. Wish I still had mine. Subscribed #69 😉
There is a hole in the bottom of the filter housing on the carb. You'll need to plug that hole ( It would normally be used as a connection to the oil breather port on the valve cover ) ; If you haven't done that already. -- plugging the hole just prevents dust and dirt from bypassing the filter and going into the engine.
yes i did do that, unfortunately i forgot to record it and didnt notice it wasnt included in the video until after i published it but it is definitely important to do
I have a question. I plan on doing the carb kit later but for now whenever I put the truck in gear the rpm shoots up and pushes me,it will run on it own about 35mph, any idea why?
great video, very concise and informative. enjoyed the music you used as well. wish you would've given the bolt information for the EGR delete plate. not a big deal but i would love to have everything i need to knock it out in one go. thank you again for the video.
not sure if you mean take the grommet off entirely or just remove it temporarily, definitely not permanently. i also dont recall having to remove it to install the cable but i could be misremembering
unfortunately cant go back in time and record that however i can tell you, all that i did was cut the wire of the choke and then peel back the insulation a little bit to get some wire visible and i crimped a connector onto the factory wire
theres a wire that connects to the alternator which is what i connected it to, you have to cut the factory connector and crimp on a new one because its held in place solid on the factory carb
In the US for the 1980 model year, it was sold as the B2000, which used a 2.0-liter F/MA engine, replacing the B1800. The diesel 2.2-liter B2200 was sold from 1981 with the chassis code UD (introduced during 1982 for the United States). If it has a carburetor then it isn't a 2200. Straight from wikipedia, the gas engine is the B2000 as it is a 2.0 liter engine. The Perkins diesel is the 2.2 liter B2200. Your truck is great and so is your channel, just wanted you to be aware as a fellow B series owner.😅
youre wrong, my truck is a uf chassis, all b2000 and b2200 sold in the u.s. from 1986-1993 are carbureted unless originally sold in california. my truck uses the f2 2.2l carbureted gas engine, the uf b2000 uses the fe 2L carbureted gas engine.
naw man, B2200's were 1987-1991 i think. 2.2l gasoline engine. I have a 1989 B2200, and it is carbureted. The factory carbs are complicated and a pain in the butt though.
didnt even think about that, really good idea, i actually ended up sanding a little more than i showed in the video to make sure it was good but I'll definitely keep that in mind
i got it on ebay about two years ago, unfortunately i think they stopped being sold new for the most part but i know they show up on walmarts website new sometimes which is a weird place to find em but hey at least theyre there
biggest benefit is probably throttle response, power isnt really improved at all but it feels more accurate to when i press the pedal, it also increases intake noise which is nice
How many miles on this B2200? did you clean the inside of the valve cover before taping??? that is clean as a whistle on the inside valve cover??? As A Whistle
you dont necessarily have to remove the ecu however its of no use unless you want to go back to the factory carb at some point, they can be sold on ebay for about $100 so i took it out because i figure i may as well make some money back from the price of the weber carb. it's running a lot better and smoother than factory with the weber, throttle response is much better but i wouldnt say theres a noticeable increase in horsepower at all, fuel mileage (when properly tuned) is also better which is an added bonus
i link all the parts in the descriptions of the video, if you cant buy them there for some reason due to location i would try ebay or amazon, if youre just looking for oem replacement items rockauto is good but i dont know if they ship to mexico
Before i install the weber, i should probably do the timing belt, water pump, valve seals, head gasket, valve gasket first, right? Lol, im not ready for that. I have a b2200 1992 with only 90k miles, but all the rubber gaskets are disintegrated, maybe from age or ethanol..
honestly weber first is not a bad idea lol, makes the engine bay sooooo much easier to work on man, it'll save you so much time especially with belts and gaskets
the cheaper weber knockoffs are known to have inconsistent chokes, fuel mixture screws that back out, etc. so i went with the one i knew wouldnt cause me problems, nothing stopping you from using a replica though
Why would you want a cheap Chinese made knockoff when you can spend a few more hundred dollars to get the genuine Webber carb that you will only put in once and have no problems. With the cheap Chinese carbs theres problems with them.
quite honestly i didnt feel any power gain over stock, these trucks are severely restricted by the exhaust so intake modifications dont do much, but this does simplify working on the truck a lot, it makes general maintenance way easier as it frees up a ton of space in the engine bay
@@Blue_B2200 Yeah it looks nice! I've got a 323 BF 1989 so will look for a kit that fits that. Have you thought about getting your valve cover power coated? That can set the engine bay off nice.
@peacepuffz im working on doing an engine bay overhaul currently, its going slow though as i just bought another project car and thats where most of my money is going atm lol
@@Blue_B2200 Ha he yeah they rainse the bank account, I got so many parts I wanna buy but just spent 7K on the project. All in good time though. Enjoy it.
i do not believe so, it seems from what i can find that the b2200 kits use a different intake adapter plate, depending on what vehicle you have there is a kit designed for that engine on a mazda b1800
Great job ! This is one of the best Weber conversion videos I've seen.

NGL. I came for the information but I stayed for the background music. Just vibeing.
Very nice video man, love the videography! Better angles of what you're doing than most videos on how to do this.
my videography is one of the things i pride myself on so im glad its being acknowledged, i appreciate the kind words!
Good job on your weber install and thank you for the shoutout! Keep on minitruckin!
i appreciate it man! your videos have been a huge help when working on my truck so thank you for what you do for the minitruck community
These are good little trucks. Love the Mazda trucks very, very much.
love this music, totes just vibing rn

great job on the carb conversion and the editing!
I just got a 86, I plan on doing a Weber carb for my first mod

i honestly didnt put it because i dont know the thread pitch, i just found matching bolts that worked from a bunch that my dad had laying around lol
Awesome content brother i have a mazda b2200 that im going to start working on
Do you need to take the rubber grommet off from in between the throttle cable, Saw that in another video
not sure if you mean take the grommet off entirely or just remove it temporarily, definitely not permanently. i also dont recall having to remove it to install the cable but i could be misremembering
Would you please show how you wired the Electric Choke to the distributor???
unfortunately cant go back in time and record that however i can tell you, all that i did was cut the wire of the choke and then peel back the insulation a little bit to get some wire visible and i crimped a connector onto the factory wire
Solid
what power source do you have the choke hooked up to? im having trouble locating the wires.
theres a wire that connects to the alternator which is what i connected it to, you have to cut the factory connector and crimp on a new one because its held in place solid on the factory carb

Next time use some marking fluid like dykem or even a sharpie to see the high and low spots while you sand it flat
didnt even think about that, really good idea, i actually ended up sanding a little more than i showed in the video to make sure it was good but I'll definitely keep that in mind
Bud , where did you get your header . I can’t find one anywhere !!!
i got it on ebay about two years ago, unfortunately i think they stopped being sold new for the most part but i know they show up on walmarts website new sometimes which is a weird place to find em but hey at least theyre there
Hey, great videos! How have you been liking the Weber? What have you found are the benefits of having it vs. the stock carb?
biggest benefit is probably throttle response, power isnt really improved at all but it feels more accurate to when i press the pedal, it also increases intake noise which is nice
How many miles on this B2200? did you clean the inside of the valve cover before taping??? that is clean as a whistle on the inside valve cover???
As A Whistle
130k miles, no i did not clean it, from what i know the previous owners took very good care of it
Where you hook the electric to?
the choke on the new carburetor
Yup the electric choke is that the cable that comes from the alternator ?
correct, it is
Why do you have to take the icu" what’s is it for? And with the weber is it running better and faster? And keep the good work man
you dont necessarily have to remove the ecu however its of no use unless you want to go back to the factory carb at some point, they can be sold on ebay for about $100 so i took it out because i figure i may as well make some money back from the price of the weber carb. it's running a lot better and smoother than factory with the weber, throttle response is much better but i wouldnt say theres a noticeable increase in horsepower at all, fuel mileage (when properly tuned) is also better which is an added bonus
Hi there !! Where can I buy those parts, I need the head cilinder cover too.

At this point, I may as well do a full rebuild... lol or engine swap.
honestly weber first is not a bad idea lol, makes the engine bay sooooo much easier to work on man, it'll save you so much time especially with belts and gaskets
So I am curious why would you do the $526 Weber vs the $160 no name carb on this truck?
the cheaper weber knockoffs are known to have inconsistent chokes, fuel mixture screws that back out, etc. so i went with the one i knew wouldnt cause me problems, nothing stopping you from using a replica though
you can also sometimes find the authentic weber carbs on sale, i got mine for ~$380
Im gonna mention i have the knockoff and it runs perfect. May have been lucky? Never had problems runs smoother than ever.
i know that they still work but for how long they work well im not so sure, biggest concern would be reliability/longevity
Why would you want a cheap Chinese made knockoff when you can spend a few more hundred dollars to get the genuine Webber carb that you will only put in once and have no problems. With the cheap Chinese carbs theres problems with them.
How's the performance with these mate?
