Not sure if you’ll see this but I’ve been a Frusciante fan for a few years now and I decided to start playing guitar after years of playing drums. I really thank you for all the videos you make. I can tell you are definitely inspired by John just like I am and being able to watch your videos and see how passionate you are about guitar makes my day 10x better. Thank you for all the informative and musically entertaining videos!
Im not sure why but your playing in scar tissue in this video really touched my heart and you can tell you have a deep connection to and the song means a great deal to you
The katana is such an impressive system. I understand why some people are more partial to tubes and all analog amps but the variety of tones you can get on a budget from programmable amps is great.
Also tubes are pretty hard to handle and basically impossible to play at home. If you play mainly at home and/or smaller gigs this is all you need imo.
I am so happy you have the same obsession with John’s Californication era tones as myself!, you really appreciate and honor those tones so beautifully Dave!, Thank You for sharing this! This is absolutely amazing!!!!!! and you definitely have such a unique tone and style all of your own that comes out when you’re playing, it’s beautiful!!!! Thank again for this vid!!!!!
Strange that this worked much better for me - being on a brown channel and doing the full bass with 0 middle and treble eq made my guitar sound muddy and dark as hell. I have a Mexican Road Worn 50s strat with Tex Mex pups. After 1-2 days of researching that on the Katana I kept those settings in crunch channel with having the midds also on 4 😊
Everytime I need some advice on *attempting* to play like John I know exactly who to come to. Watched this video a dozen times over the years times but needed a refresher after taking a break from RHCP for awhile. Decided it's finally time to learn BSSM front to back. Appreciate you Dave, hope all is well :)

Also man, the sheer array of john tone you've chucked out here is fucking awesome. You're a great player dude and if you ever want a jam, I'd be happy to jump on the bass haha
It really upsets me that someone like Tasha from New Zeland who plays that jungle song gets millions of views but somehow Dave (who is light years ahead of her in talent and music capability) gets less. Dave deserves millions and millions!

You can actually find a video of the Poland gig intro of someone on the stage recording John and Flea and you can see John tweaking with the Boss DM-2.
Fantastic, Dave! Would you consider doing a video on how to set up guitars? Like how you go about determining if the action at the nut is okay, how to sand and reshape the neck to fit your preferance, pickup and string height, how to do it, etc.? I love messing with all the stuff but am pretty inexperienced, and there's really not much good information on YT. I've looked a lot (especially for determining the correct action at the nut and neck sanding/shaping) I know it's a tall order, but it would be immensely appreciated!!
It's pretty likely that you'll sand through to the truss rod, which makes it unajustable without causing even more neck damage, as well as significantly lowering its value. Trolgy's guitar show did a video on a guitar that this happened to.
If you're standing down to the truss rod then I have no idea what you're trying to do... I mean sanding to thin the neck very slightly to your preference, to reduce 'baseball bat' feel.
My honest thoughts at the end of the video: Holy shiat. What was the question again? Whatever, this is the answer. I think understanding this clip is the way to understand how music works. Thank you for boosting us with your positive energy and motivation. :) Cheers!

Hey Dave! Great stuff as usual. I'd also like to vote for another series similar to the cr 120 that you did getting different tones. Best wishes and good luck to you good sir.
Great video. Been thinking of buying one of these and watching a lot of videos. Your demo of the 50 watt made me get one. Got the 100 for the extra features and was not disappointed. Just plug in and play is the way to go. Keep it simple . Do you plan on doing any videos with the 100? Great tones.👍

Thank you, Dave! How would you approach the same tone with jackhammer added to the setup? The closest I could get to this one is almost the same settings but on the crunch channel. Acoustic wouldn't work, not enough compression to tame DS2 and WH10 volume jump. Also, I've noticed your way of setting the EQ to zeroes helps tame DS2. It seems like DS2 is hitting that middle and hi end, and when there is a bit more of mid's and hi's it multiplies it way too much even on dirty channels, thus volume jump.
I would have to play around with the jackhammer as I'm not 100% sure but i would run the gain low on the pedal and use the clean or crunch mode on the Katana. : )
I think what You got there, is his sound circa 2001-2002 when he turned his micro amp on, you can hear that his tone is a lot more cleaner in the californication to by the way era without the micro amp, i think he didn't use his since stadium arcadium and compensated on his amps directly, like you do

I’ve put these settings in my katana 100 and it just sounds way too muddy and bass heavy. Personally I found it works best to put the middle at 12 o’clock and a tiny hint of treble, then put the presence at 3 o’ clock

I know to use the ds2 on mode 1 but unsure about cleanish tone/settings? Be interested to see what you think :)
Kurt's tone has lots of mids and treble almost maxed out and slightly crunchy, also the DS2 volume Max, tone 11 o'clock, dist on full, and mode 1
Dave, just awesome mate! in 20:48 Solo is just a DS2 on turbo mode right=? No wah i mean. Greetings !!!!
Thank you very much and it is indeed just the turbo mode. : )

Hello Dave just got a katana 2x12 but I have to be honest I prefer my champion 100
What can you advise me to watch to help to understand the amp better
If you wanted to use the jackhammer or golden plexi with boss katana, what would your boss katana settings be? And my second question is do you recommend golden plexi or jackhammer for john frusciante dirty clean tone with boss katana?
Jackhammer
What do you play starting at 26:20?
Every one raved about the Boss . I have 100 twin 12 and I loved it at first but that soon ended.
I'm very sorry to hear that.
Can you please do this with Roland Cube 40XL??
