Dang. All it needed was the tiny screen from the Katana go for the tuner and to show what effect is selected so you don't have to carry a crib sheet to see what effect "yellow" is. Such a missed opportunity. Also, have the dang controls closer to the front! You know, where the player is. I don't play behind or on top of my amp.
I wish they would stop hard wiring the speaker to the amp though. I have the katana artist and it connects to the speaker via cable, makes it super easy to use the katana as a cab as well.

@awittypilot8961 I use an expression pedal into the back of the GA-FC (not the -EX version) for WAH too. I also plug a simple TAP switch into the other port on the back of the GA-FC. Through the ASSIGN tab on the BOSS Tone Studio, I have programmed the configuration such that when I togglle the TAP switch, it switches the pedal action between VOLUME and PEDAL FX (whatever you have programmed the pedal FX to be in the PEDAL FX tab). It's a Kramer Pacer. The main mod is the Sustainiac pickup in the neck. Its a pretty complicated system with multiple circuit boards, 2 additional switches, and replaces the pickup switch with a digital one so that it goes to the bridge pickup when using the sustainer (it only works right when the pickup is far away from the sustainer driver). Agreed. All these supposed "new" features have already been available on my MkII Artist for years. PUSHED pre-amp is a meh, can easily be replicated on the CLEAN channel, or using one of the SNEAKY AMP profiles. Stacked ODs would be nice, also the ability to cycle through GREEN-RED-YELLOW effects on the GA-FC. Or revamp the clunky GA-FC completely to also include a couple of expression pedals. Yeah, it would cost a bit more, but worth it IMO and no need for the additional cost of expression pedals and activation switches on external umbilical cables.
That thing sounds like a crappy solid state amp. It will never sound good EVER. No matter how many youtube videos are made stating it sounds killer your ears will tell you.
I played a Boss 50 at local music store trying out some cheaper squire guitars and it sounded great to me. Lots of response and nice tone. I come from a classical guitar background and 60 cycle hum used to annoy me. But now it’s growing on me. And the boss was actually a pretty quiet amp. Made guitars sound good. But what do I know?

Siounds almost as good as my Mighty Plug Pro. But, the MPP has Bluetooth built in. 😊
I want to have a kid. Just so I can call him Katana now😂
No fx loop and no line out on the 50 model? Sorry, I’m not interested
Totally agree. More Boss arrogance & Tone Studio is awful. They could learn a lot from Valeton, NU-X & Sonicake. Pass!
Advantage to Line 6 Catalyst 60- especially w/12 amps in the new firmware. ❤️ Boss’ Pushed channel, though.
I discovered they put already the 50 ex on the line-up, maybe I change idea. Maaaybe
The EX version has line out, but still no FX loop.
@@iduncanw yes…
I've watched so many videos about this amp today that my ears are starting to hurt. Tone overload.
Whats new : not so much : a new name and some updates here and there and I think the bluetooth thing will work very slow as on my GX100 unbelievable 😀
I would have had a localmPMT store if PMT had bought the Eric Lindsay Music store in Catford. It is now emptu with SE London musicians having to buy online or travel to central London. Just imagine trying to travel on the tube with your btand new stack system. You cannot use a vehicle in central London because of the Congestion Charge and ULEZ.
Dagan brother i'm with the fun police!! damn brother your havin to much we need to turn you down !!!! na keep up the jammin go for it lmao
It sounds like a casio keyboard on the “electric guitar” sound.
Boss katana gen 4
Didn't make that comment but hey guess I want a gen 4
Coming out next week buddy
hey man, you’re pretty cool
Katana GEN 3 !
or: now we can finally be honest about everything that was wrong with Mark I and Mark II 😜
What happened to the? Katana go I heard they were discontinued.
The bluetooth is pretty cool, but still no tuner or looper? Thats wack!
All of that just sounded very harsh and brittle. Looks like a good all rounder that doesnt excel at any particular thing. REAL TUBE AMPS STILL RULE
Sounds to brite to me the katana mini sounds better to me
The Gen 3 is a snooze fest. I don't see enough difference to upgrade from the MK2. Still no tuner, no effects loop on the 50. Wait and buy the 100 MK2 for a reduced price and slave your 50 with it and jobs done in my book. The price went up at least 50 dollars too on these new ones.
With distortion you can make anything sound like shit.
Never liked the Katana, and I've owned two. Sold them both for pennies on the dollar. Too shrill/harsh sounding, and the software is total garbage.
Shouldve taken out the speakers and sold them separatly theyre stupid expensive
Sold mine 2 years ago. Don't miss them. I did allow myself to get sucked into a Katana Go but returned it the next day. But, like a true addict, I had to check this out.
.....said the Marshall salesman..
Does your guitar not have a tone dial? Shrill? Dial it back. 😂
Yo
there is no effects loop on the gen 3. HARD pass on this one. an amp HAS to have an effects loop, or i think its almost useless.
"Whatcha talkin bout Willis"
All the 100-Watt GEN-3's (Combos & Head) including the Katana Artist Combo Have an Effects Loop!
Just not the 50-Versions.
That’s ok for the Z children but I will keep my three EVH 5150 100w heads and 4X12 5150 cabinets and for a combo I also so keep the Marshall JVM210C but I guess that’s ok for a beginner
I bet the shrillness of the amp would be fixed with a new speaker. Possibly the Hesu Demon or DV-77.
Or a Joyo EQ pedal, which is what I use with my Boss Katana MK2
boss has turned into blackstar just regurgitating the same technologies over and over ill stick with my 25.000 amps on tonex
None of this warranted a new release. Give us stackable overdrive, tuner and built-in Bluetooth
This is why i sold katana mk2 and buyed positive grid spark 40
Honestly though.
Please just tell me the major new features. I don’t wanna hear a single thing tone wise.
Give thin man a bc rich gunslinger and let him play some dokken wtf is this no copyright shit
Youre a good player but that thing is WAYY too mid forward. Sounds fake
How do mids make it sound fake?
Bro need to stop drinking
That thing sounds like a crappy solid state amp. It will never sound good EVER. No matter how many youtube videos are made stating it sounds killer your ears will tell you.
I played a Boss 50 at local music store trying out some cheaper squire guitars and it sounded great to me. Lots of response and nice tone. I come from a classical guitar background and 60 cycle hum used to annoy me. But now it’s growing on me. And the boss was actually a pretty quiet amp. Made guitars sound good. But what do I know?
