I'm the moira on the enemy team on havana in the unranked game. I remember this was maybe 1 week ago and I instantly watched the replay from your perspective as It was evident in that game you were making impactful plays. Didn't realise it was Awkward, just thought some random smurf lol.
Literally just went from Silver to Plat in a few days with this. Teammates flamed me almost every game (while we were winning) and they'd even try to take Moira at the start of the second round just to prevent me "from playing like a Jackass" in matches that we WERE WINNING!
i turned off the chat when i started playing after this strategy. my win percentage is around 80% and i won’t let whining teammates dull that.

I've watched all of these OW2 "Unranked to GM" vids Awkward has put out and I find it amusing how putting damage out as support has various reactions depending on the hero that you play.
You do it on Bap and Zen, you're a god. You do it on Ana and Kiri, they ask that you heal more. You do it on Moira and everyone LOSES THEIR MINDS
Bap and Zen can do both pretty much at once, Ana Kiri have the e cooldowns that can be used either or, they have quite the heal range too, Moira tho, is pretty committed. To get these damage numbers you know you are going to break a boosted bronze Tanks ego because you are not pocketing them the entire game.

I do remember in 1 game during the Zen video, someone did tell him to heal more lol. He just replied "How?" lol
Because moira now over Ana can output the most healing so if you sacrifice that people go nuts cause they realize moiras healing is broken. And if ur doing dmg but not getting value you could've healed and allowed them to do it instead.
It’s funny to see people on r/OWU all patting each other on the back for saying “it’s support not healer” and “supports have to deal damage” and whatnot, and then in the same comment decry DPS Moiras. Like, yeah, all supports need to have offensive contributions, but other supports have offensive utility options too. Moira literally just has damage, and somehow even the “educated” crowd condemns her for using it. The number of times I’ve seen people say things like, “you don’t play [other support hero] for the heals; if you want to healbot, pick Moira”, when she’s one of just two supports who literally cannot play heal-only.

This video changed my Overwatch life, seriously. I avoided Moira because I thought to rank up I had to play the "high skill" heroes. I was struggling in mid plat for a long time (years). After this video I decided to give Moira a shot, and everything Awkward preaches just came so naturally to me on this character. COVER! DAMAGE! DAMAGE! COVER! RESCUE MY FRIEND IN BAD POSITION! FADE! COVER! DAMAGE! DAMAGE! All of a sudden I'm carrying every game going 5-0, 5-0, 5-0. What!! Is this a dream??? I ranked up to Diamond for the first time EVER and I'm still carrying my games. Incredible!!! Thank you Awkward!
Maybe bc moira takes no skill and anyone can rank up with her but a good ana kiriko bap zen even mercy are way more useful for the team overall

I did kind of wince, i saw multiple times right off the bat where someone was critical for ages while he was dpsing. I think this is the crux of dps moira hate; they have to be separated sometimes to do this and it makes it difficult for them to be in healing range.
That just means they're positioned badly then and comes down to game sense. I've seen so many times "heal me" and they just stand there waiting when there's a health pack just behind them or in the room next door.

Like Bap can four-tap someone in the head, but Phara rockets do more damage than his grenade heals. If you're crit and she's hard focusing you and I don't have my cooldowns... I'm probably going to shoot her instead of heal you. Will it always work out? No. But 100% of the time, healing you will fail if the Phara keeps shooting. Especially if she's pocketed, which she often is.

Basically the first 3 hours of this video was Moira carrying every game, while everyone else on his team sat on car afk, complaining in chat about not getting heals. Like maybe if yall were where the fight is happening, you'd get a few heals.

I have won more than lost with this strategy. I was the Moira healer that used healing orb 60% of the time. My last few games my healing orb barely came out and now i win!
After watching enough matches, an interesting thing I've realized about is that like 99/100 the reason I thought my team won or lost is laughably off-the-mark. So many of these matches have people flaming with "Tank diff" or "Trash teammate" when in reality the only one in the server who actually knew why was Awkward
Too many people proceed to blame teammates without thinking, like literal NPCs. I’ve had a lot of games where we lose the first fight and someone insta types “gg trash tank”. It’s funny that, if we end up winning the game, they go quiet after flaming for the whole match

Its actually kinda wild how lower Elo ppl will flame you. My one friend is top 500 dps and he made a smurf to play with me in Gold and ppl were calling his zen trash even tho he had like 40 kills - 1 death and was carrying our team.
Really puts it into perspective when awkward talks about how you always take teammate advice with a grain of salt since they are all in that rank and probably not climbing

Flaming me as Moira for not healing all the time but dickriding our kiriko who had 600 damage across the 18 minute comp game
We won the game and our tank was being toxic and calling everyone on the enemy team trash, I'm in diamond now and they're still in gold so shows what they knew
So frustrating sometimes. Just went on a 3 game losing streak. I literally carried hard on my team. Over 8k-10k damage, 5k-8k healing, went 42-9 and distracted and went on off angles and my team still wouldn't capitalize when I'm distracting enemy team.
As a moira main myself i found that this playstyle and tips helped a lot and i found myself doing so much more despite my teamates complaining. It took me a while to get adjusted from the healbot type playstyle but it works. This a great video!

Moira actually feels like a good hero to tryhard.
She's so simple mechanically that she sounds like a good hero to train on other skills like off angles and positioning.
Hard agree. I feel like with her you instantly see both the effects of better positioning and the mistakes that cost you games, this gives a better iteration time and the ability to correct those mistakes faster. The downside though, is that your aim won't improve if you just play Moira, and if you also want to play other heros, you'd still have to put in the time to get used to the aim.
Learning your spacing and angles is amazing on Moira. I started moira in around silver, and every season I learned. Slowly climbing and finally got GM for first time a few nights ago. Now when I play other characters I play them better because of what I learned on Moira

@@MokeAnit don’t fade unless you NEED too. The higher the SR the more they will punish for improper use. Throw Only damage orbs if your team is above 25%. The spray heal has a heal over time, so the more you’re tapping it on team mates the better. always be sucking. You’ll almost never run out of piss. If you’re against a DVA, just toss heal orbs back into your team if you can’t get dmg past her. And suck away. And don’t be afraid to fade in and confirm a kill on their low HP healers in their back line if your team is looking stable. If you’re low on resources don’t be afraid to Ult and keep your team up.

i’ve only been playing overwatch since season 3 of Overwatch 2. with your guides on soldier, baptiste, ana, zen, kiriko and now moira i have already learned so much abt the game and the proper way to play in such little time. im already in Masters (3rd division) and your videos helped me a lot. looking to be GM by the end of season 5

So I’ll say, sometimes at lower elos, I feel like there’s not as much value from distracting the enemy team. I will have games where I will literally have 2-3 people chasing me for literally 20-30 seconds, which feels like an eternity, but my team will lose the other fight

I have been trying to treat this game as an actually sport and have been working out again. It has not only improved how I think but how I feel. I also journal every once in awhile to help with how I process feelings and life. Honestly, I have been working on me and when I do play Overwatch, I play better. I went from Bronze 1 in support to Silver 3 just by changing the way I think about the game and how I have been taking care of myself.

I just watched it from cover to cover. This is the most insane OW content, but I use it as a motivation to achieve goals in live. Awkward is completely unreal. Good job!
One of my biggest takeaways is that when I fade to stay alive I just try to get somewhere safe instead of considering if there's a way to fade to an off angle to immediately start reapplying pressure. I also need to consider verticality more in creating off angles.

Growth on this channel over the years and years has been long overdue and deserved. One of the few based, decent streamers left now.
I never played comp before, and these videos just got me to gold 2 in one playthrough. I know its not really high, but Awkward had genuinely been the reason I placed as high as I did.
One little thing Nolan likes to do with healing orb is use it when a moira duel occurs, It has a larger hitbox, so in a selfish 1v1 scenario it can help you win vs a moira that uses damage orb there.

Been switching between mercy and Moira since mercy isn’t as vital as season 4 with her heal boost. Your tips help a lot man. I’ve actually been doing good because of your tips on vitalizing damage orbs over just being a healbot and it’s been helping a ton for winning games

I took a look to this one as well because I'm a Master Moira main, so I'm pretty confident with the character, but I can still improve my plays.
About her I'm just partially disagree with the flanking strategy and the balance to keep between healing and damage. Flanking is very good to lose enemy's time and minds, but sometimes, especially when teams play packed up, stay behind yours can give an insane amount of healing to the allies and win the fight. Make usage of the "critical" status as an indicator to know when to heal do not help too much (especially in Platinum or lower tiers) since Moira heal over seconds and the ally is often going to die anyway. I think with her it is necessary to analyze every situation very quickly and see if somebody is going to be in trouble possibly before he's in trouble.
Said this very nice guide to tiktoking with her in 2023, I'm going to make good usage of some ideas of yours :D :D

can you please do a challenge were you only distract in low ranks and only use dmg to put their attention on you? for example widowmaker just shooting in an area what forces the enemies to look for another way around or something, it would be rlly interesting to see how much positioning and dodging affects the game and if its important to know what hero to specifically focus on etc..

@@willmcclard206 i mean, its true but just doing it as a challenge to see if stuff like this actually does any impact or not is really interesting. distracting and positioning is part of the game and i feel like if every teammate is focusing on the right enemy and not only shooting at the first one they see, maybe it does do something. i havent seen anyone on youtube doing a challenge were they try to think which enemy would kill your ally who was doing the most on the round and predicting their moves to distact them in the right moment, i seriously dont know how to explain it but basically analyzing your team (where they will go and what they may be focusing on) and also analyzing the enemy team and not just trying to go for anyone who comes across your face

my team always likes to say stuff to me if we lose one or two team fights when i have lowest heals in the game as moira, but i have more damage and elims than both dps on our team. if we end up losing i always let em know they dont use natural cover and expect healers to keep em alive while they stand in the enemies line of sight lol your vids helped me climb from silver to plat pretty fast. thanks !
Another argument you can use is, Moira can clutch heal, but she can’t provide immunity to stupidity. As the saying goes: STUPITY IS NOT A RIGHT

The biggest problem I see with rein players is they feel they don’t need to use cover bc they have a big shield.
How many times I’ve seen reins stand in front of a bastion in turret, let their shield get eaten up, then try to charge into them when the shield breaks to get instantly melted is ridiculous.
Play around cover, utilize the hitbox on the hammer, don’t telegraph shatter, occasionally you can short flank isolated targets with a charge. Also as the guy said above, don’t over rely on the shield thinking you’re invincible
