This is so helpful thank you Josh. Question, do you know if there is a way to use a lut as a view assist? So I can shoot XFAVC and have the lut only to view and not attached to the file.
You’re welcome. As far as I know this is not possible unless shooting in raw. My best suggestion would be to use a monitor and apply the LUT there for viewing and record internally without the LUT.
Pretty sweet! Bummer you can just use it as a view asset without an external monitor. Luckily the in camera view assist is way better than the other canon mirrorless cameras. Looking forward to more R5C vids, Josh!
Just purchased this camera and I have lot to learn. Question, where can I purchase luts? I’ve seen few places that sell them but do you have any suggestions?
Great Video Josh ! I just snagged myself a R6mark ii epic camera , gonna need to get a B cam/dedicated video camera eventually what do you recommend between the r5c/c70/r8/r7 for best price to performance ratio?
When I format my SD card, load the LUT into the root file, eject the SD card, load it into my C70, go to the picture profile settings like you have shown, and then go to "Look File Setup", my "Register" option is just greyed out. I've tried multiple cards and the LUT is directly from Canon. Any idea why?
Just for someone else - the issue was that the LUT I was trying to use was 65 Grid. I just didn't realize it until I pulled up the 33 grid and saw the difference in file size. Working now.
I was just wondering if you had a chance to look at AI tracking gimbals and your opinion on using them in a single person content creation point of view. I currently own an R8 and my go to lense is the Tamron 24-70 F2.8 VC.
@@Josh_Sattin I totally understand the only gimbal I own is for my cell it's ok for b roll. With cinematic cameras not having Ibis gimbal would be up your alley.
for those of us that are stupid=me, and don't know what a "root directory" is, please show or tell what that means. The SD card has 4 folders in it. Contents. CRM. DCIM and MISC. 😪
Yes! More R5 C content!! 👍🏼
Thanks for watching!
Josh singlehandedly keeping the R5C relevant on youtube! much appreciated 🙂
just let me say: THANK YOU!!! I was going crazy trying to figure out how to correctly change these settings with the C70! Amazing job.

Hi Josh, can the R7 or R6 ii use custom luts in camera for monitoring?
Love the R5C videos, thanks Josh

Are you still having the c70? How does it compares with the fx3 for low budget documentary filmmaking regardind with the audio xlr preamps? Thanks
Super helpful video, Josh! Thanks for the shoutout :)
Of course man! Hopefully some people check out your channel and LUTs!

You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
Great video as always mate
Thanks!
awesome video
Thanks Carlos!
@Josh can you do this with Phantom LUTS and have them preloaded on the SD card ?
This should work with any 17 or 33 pt LUT files.
Just purchased this camera and I have lot to learn. Question, where can I purchase luts? I’ve seen few places that sell them but do you have any suggestions?
In this video I actually recommend LUTs from my friend Tyler Edwards. There are links and a coupon code in the description.
Useful video. Thanks Josh! :)

Thanks! I would recommend the R5C or C70 for a dedicated video camera since they both have fans and won't overheat.
Thank you for making this, no one believes me
You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
I keep thinking I know all about this camera after 2 years and I'm always wrong.
Genial, mil gracias!

Are you using SD slot 1 or 2?

Yup. As mentioned in the video, it needs to be a 17 or 33 point LUT. Glad you got it figured out.

Unfortunately I haven't tested that stuff.

The root directory is not in any folder. It's just what is showing when you open the window. The folders CRM, DCIM, etc. are in the root directory.
@@Josh_Sattin got it! Thank you!
