    I’ve loved Stalman’s LUT for fast turn around work, but the issue is the blue Duke shirts I usually have on and this confirmed why hahaha

    As a C70 owner and DP I can’t thank you enough for all these videos. I used to do all my own color since I actually learned how to edit from a colorist but now I’m all about deadlines and delivering TH-cam and social content so…let’s be honest all those extras hours coloring really don’t matter. Been looking for a good solid C70 LUT to cut down my workflow and I’m so glad you put this out as well as your other videos on file type and size, etc.

      which one did you decide on?

    • @CinemaSteve
      @CinemaSteve ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sksignsdesignsmarketing3993 I ended up with Buttery LUTs and they work ok. But that being said I switched from Premiere to Resolve since Premiere's rendering engine sucks and was slower than Resolve by about 75% with an i9 12900k and RTX 4090. So now I use Cullen Kelly's Voyager LUTs in Resolve for color and it's so much better than anything than Premiere offers. Even with Resolve, just change the input color space to c-log 2 and slap any one of his LUTs on and the color is much much more accurate with the same amount of work.

    Wow, thanks so much for including my LUTs in this video! Faithful is definitely my favorite, but I also like to use Faithful Crush to bring those shadows down a bit. How you demonstrated Faithful was exactly my intent--give a good starting place and then add any additional contrast/sat if needed so that it works in very low contrast and high contrast scenes. All the LUTs you showed look fantastic! Great video!

    This is why it is a bummer that they removed C-LOG 2 BT.709... You should try shooting C-LOG 3 BT.709 and grading from scratch. You might find you'll get a more natural looking image + get there easier.

    Ended up buying the Buttery LUTs cause of you. Thank you SO much for the suggestion. My wife does a livestream twice a week and I’m able to use these as a baked in look in the C70. It’s perfect because the Canon conversion LUT looks good on my skin tones but makes her super red. These look perfect on both of us for the times I need to be on camera too. Thanks man!

      @@SoundItOutFilms dumb question but can you show how you apply your luts? I swear when I slap some of them on I don't get the same colors you do (I even bought stalman one and it looks way different). Do you decrease highlights/boost shadows before applying luts? contrast?

    I've been using Stalman's LUT for most of the year, but I definitely have found that the blues get weird. Glad I'm not the only one that noticed that. Buttery seems to be a good starting point tho. Might have to try that one out.

    Tyler Edwards Faithful for me. I prefer using a KOJI Color finishing look LUT, and I'm super annoyed I can't shoot C-Log2 in rec709. SO when I decide to use C-Log2, I use the Tyler Faithful before the KOJI. I'd love to see the Looks video too!

  • @KHammerProductions
    @KHammerProductions 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This video was very helpful. I've used the Stalman LUT for a while, but it can sometimes be too much, and starting with the Buttery LUT has been great for most of my work. Recently, I've shot for clients who want baked-in color profiles because they want a faster post workflow. I used the Wide DR 709 in camera and I'm honestly liking it better than what I'm getting out of the LUTS when I record in CLOG 2. Is this something you've tested or would take a look at? I'm curious what others think. I like having the flexibility LOG allows, but I'm starting to think I'll shoot with baked-in color for smaller projects.

    Thanks for the research. I'm trying to match colour on an R5, C200 and C70 for a 3 camera project creating 8 scripted instructional videos. I know your vid is about log 2 but I'm working on clog 3 because that's what these three cameras share in common... tried Stalman Log 3 LUT (Rec 709) ... no bueno unfortunately (very orange and very contrasty). Went down a rabbit hole and bought some others... my best results are still with Canon LUTS (which is disappointing as I'm about 75% happy with those results. With log 3 you can get decent results with no lut just by bringing up contrast etc. But sure wish I could find a silver bullet LUT that would get me to where I want to be!

    Which LUT do you monitor with while shooting? If you were Shooting CLOG2 and wanted to monitor for a more "rec.709" look and not a super specific look, do you just use the Correction thats built into the C70? or are you loading your own LUT into the camera or maybe your External Monitor?

    Im so thankful I found this video really good tests and quality in general. I have a question for you. I have a canon r6 and I shoot in CLog 3, I am looking for a more cinematic look and a good highlight rollof like the one u showed with the buttery luts on the CLog 2 clip with the fire. Do you think that the buttery natural lut for clog 3 has the same kind of roll of and colors as the same lut for clog 3? Sorry if my question is kind of confusing im just on a budget and buttery luts are expensive but i cant decide between them and the tyler stalman because of the price. Anyway would love to hear your opinion on this, and again your videos are amazing!

      I haven't tried any CLOG3 luts except Stalmans (included in the pack I purchased for clog2) and it didn't seem to work for me... not sure if I was doing something wrong but the gamma conversion looked super weird, but I didn't troubleshoot it because I don't use CLOG3 much.
